kbdmap & ASCII > 128
Hi, I've just played around with kbdmap in pxelinux. I always wondered why there was no translation for "AltGr"-Keys (the right 'Alt'-Key) (AltGr-Q generates "@" on a german keyboard e.g.), and I found in conio.inc (syslinux 1.76): getchar: [..] .kbd: xor ax,ax ; Get keyboard input int 16h and al,al jz .func_key mov bx,KbdMap ; Convert character sets

Size limit for initrd in PXELINUX?
Hi Peter, (at least I hope it is you, who gets this mail) I have a problem while booting over the netwoork using PXELINUX. When I use a initrd smaller or equal 16 MB, everything works fine, but when I increase the size, the system doesn't boot. In case of a 32 MB initrd (same content, just bigger), I get the error-message, that the system couldn't mount root. From 64 MB on, the system

hpa-tftp with xinetd
Good day, Just a quick question- could someone please confirm that this is the correct xinetd configuration (or not) for hpa-tftp? We've noticed that, when under moderate load hpa-tftpd resides in memory, even after there are no connections or even if xinetd is shut down. Under light load the server goes away after each connection, as desired. Thanks in advance! service tftp {

nilo -> tftp-hpa interaction
I downloaded nilo and oskit from www.nilo.org. Added pcnet32.c linux-2.0.39 driver to oskit. Compiled nilo with pcnet32 and produced boot floppy image. Use it inside vmware vm. My aim is to be able to test pxelinux using vmware+nilo and not a real machine. Floppy starts, detects nic, receives ip from dhcp server, requests boot image to tftpd-hpa, then crashes when talking to tftp. Is

Boot messages on VT
Hello, I am using with success SYSLINUX-1.48 to boot a CD-Rom in order to realize an automatic installation of Linux. Actually all messages during the boot step are displayed on VGA screen. In the operational version, we have only a VT on COM1. I have tested to modified my syslinux.cfg like the following listing but boot messages are always displayed on VGA screen ! Can you help me, please ? (I

Bootable 2.88MB floppy image
I would like to be able to create a 2.88MB bootable floppy image to hold the kernel and initrd -- will be used for automated install. In various newsgroups there have been many posting attempting to describe how to achieve this, but none of them is complete. Can syslinux be used to achieve this? What about memdisk? Thank you in advance. Fet

Disk images and syslinux
Hi, I'm working on a Red Hat 7.3 based bootable cd. I have included a number of firmware update floppy images to it succesfully. However, I run into problems trying to build a floppy image for IBM ServerRAID firmware update. The firmware update disk set contains three disks. So their content does not fit into 1.44 nor 2.88 floppy images. To my understanding it possible to build a hard disk

more on PXELinux confiuration file woes
I performed an experiment in which I had dhcpd specify a named file ("foo") instead of one based on a client's MAC address. Lo and behold, the same problem occured. The PXE stack requested and was served the right file, the kernel loaded as did the initrd. But again, the boot sequence stopped at "Ready." Keep in mind that the contents of the file are the same as was in the

SysLinux GPL license violation
Hi there, As I could not find a direct maintainer email address, I'm sending this to the mailing list. SysLinux, being a GPL product, is being sold under a very restrictive license without even offering the sources to the public. I've written up my findings here: http://www.palli.nl/~ivo/rdp/ Please have a look for yourself. Regards, Ivo Palli

PXE booting
Hi! I have been using pxelinux with memdisk to boot our workstations with our custom floppy, which is a MSDOS boot disk (actually it is win98) On one of the PC's I'm testing, a Fujitsu-Siemens which has an AMDtek based on-board network card and when PXE is activated, it gets an IP from the DHCP, then it finds the TFTP server, downloads pxelinux.0, executes it which causes the floppy to

a problem with pxelinux
Hi, I am using pxelinux 3.06 to do PXE boot on network. I am using AMI BIOS. My DHCP and TFTP server works fine and pxelinux.0 gets loaded and gets control. But after int 1Ah, it gets out of the execution saying "No !PXE or PXENV+ API found; we're dead..." After digging the pxelinux code I found that it quits because of "jc no_pxe" which is

Problem with rbfg and pxelinux
Hello again and thanks for your support. I am trying out the pxe floppy - rbfg that you mentioned in your previous email for some machines that are not pxe capable but have supported network cards. It looks like it is going to work but then hangs. The dialog below is from a vmware session just for testing but I have the exact same problem on an old IBM box with a Intel e100 card. Here is

PXELinux with 3C509 and mba-on-disk or with vmware
HI there. Probably my message is a bit off topic but I do not know where else I could be asking. . I'm running a linux terminal server with one client provided with a 3C509B ISA card. I boot the later with a floppy bootable rom image taken from http://www.rom-o-matic.net/ Everything is working just fine. I decided to try to set up a PXE network boot (I'll needed it for installing a

pxe floppy
Hi guys, I have been fighting with Syslinux and PXElinux for two days now. I have gotten the floppy to boot but can't get pxelinux to work. I get a message: No !PXE or PXENV+ API fournd; we're dead I am guessing this means I need something else on the floppy? The floppy has: # ls /floppy/ total 24K -r-xr-xr-x 1 9.4K Nov 2 16:31 ldlinux.sys -rwxr-xr-x 1 14K Nov 2 16:50

How to call PXE API in CPU Protected mode?
In CPU Real Mode, I can call Int 1A to check PXE Installation, From PXENV+ Structure, I get RMEntry pointer. So I can call PXE API. But At CPU Protected mode, also in my windows driver, I can scanning base memory to get !PXE Structure, So I get EntryPointESP pointer, But How can I using this pointer? How can calling PXE API now? Help!

compiling pxelinux in elf
Hi I have used pxelinux successfully in some situations. However, I am unable to boot IBM NetVista thin clients using pxelinux. The kernel that does boot up these thin clients over the net is in elf format (it is called kernel.2200). # file kernel.2200 kernel.2200: ELF 32-bit LSB executable, Intel 80386, version 1 (SYSV), statically linked, not stripped So, I would have liked to compile
