isolinux problem report
I have tried to use isolinux 2.05, and I am running into a problem where it
will not boot. I have previously used version 1.66, and the older version
works just fine. Changing nothing except dropping the new version in does
not work.
Below is all of the relevant info, I believe. This occurs on multiple
machines with different BIOS. I am currently in process of doing a binary
search to find the

[ANNOUNCE] xlogo 1.0.5
The xlogo program simply draws the X Window System logo, without the use of
any turtles.
This release fixes a bug in which you had to hit "q" then "Escape" to exit,
and collects several years worth of janitorial maintenance.

Isolinux.cfg issues on certain BIOSes
Howdy to all,
We've been using isolinux quite successfully for quite some time now,
and I have come across a couple of laptops where isolinux balks at my
config file..
Upon booting on this systems, the image background appears corrupted,
and at the boot prompt, the following happens automatically.
Unknown keyword in config file.

isolinux bug?
Please forgive me if this is a known issue or "feature". I didn't notice
anything in the list archives or the docs, so I'm assuming this is a bug.
I was attempting to create a bootable LFS cd using the instructions found at
http://hints.linuxfromscratch.org/hints/boot-cd_easy.txt. I wasn't following
the steps exactly as I had some personal changes I wanted to make. One

minimal X applications needed to export to remote server?
I'm running a piece of network backup software called 'bacula', on a minimal CentOS 6.4 install.
I got everything working pretty well, but there's one piece giving me some problem-- a component which gives status info via a GUI.
In the past, on previous installations, I could ssh to the bacula server with the -X option, and run the application (called 'bat'), and it would

Hi
I am trying to have a built in initramfs along with the traditional initrd.
So I mount the initrd from the initramfs, but am facing problems in trying
to run the 'linuxrc'.
Following are the issues:
1. I mount the initrd from the initramfs and exceve 'linuxrc'.
It starts executing linuxrc, but gives the following errors and panics:

isolinux cd hangs at booting kernel
I've created a bootable cd with isolinux but it can't load the kernel.
It detects everything fine, decompresses the initrd, loads and decompresses the kernel and then tries to boot the kernel. But after that the computer hangs.
Here's the screen dump:

lvm initrd -> initramfs
I converted my lvm root initrd to an initramfs by putting glibc, lvm,
pivot_root, my linuxrc, etc. in my initramfs source file. I use ash
compiled against klibc to run my linuxrc
Unfortunately -
pivot_root . initrd
- complains -
pivot_root: Invalid argument
I suspect this may be because you can't pivot_root using a cpio
initramfs root?
If so, what should I do instead? Should I

rle on large data . . . without a for loop!
I think need to do something like this:
dat<-data.frame(state=sample(id=rep(1:5,each=200),1:3, 1000,
replace=T,prob=c(0.7,0.05,0.25)),V1=runif(1,10,1000),V2=rnorm(1000))
rle.dat<-rle(dat$state)
temp<-1
out<-data.frame(id=1:length(rle.dat$length))
for(i in 1:length(rle.dat$length)){
temp2<-temp+rle.dat$length[[i]]
out$V1[i]<-mean(dat$V1[temp:temp2])

Newbie problems with isolinux
Hello everybody
I would like to build a bootable CD from my running SuSE 7.3 Kernel 2.4.10.
The goal is to have a prebuilt system on CD which would install everything
from a compressed image on the same CD, some kind of an emergency or
initial setup CD.
So I startet with an directory called root_tree, placed the isolinux
directory and the binaries there. I copied the initrd from the /boot

Feed rle() output to hist()
I want to make a histogram from the lengths vector which is part of the
output of rle. But I don't know how to access that vector so that I use it
as an argument of hist(). What argument must I use so that I use the
lengths vector as an input to hist()?
Example output is:

customizing initrd - kernel panic while booting
Hi,
I want to customize initrd so that I can run my
application once vmlinuz loads initrd. (similar to dos
booting - dos runs autoexec.bat)
I copied vmlinuz & initrd from RHEL4 ISO.
Mounted initrd
renamed 'linuxrc' exe to linuxrc1
created new script linuxrc
called linuxrc1 from linuxrc script
called my application from linuxrc script.
But I receive "kernel panic" error:
