freeRADIUS with winbindd, ntlm_auth on Samba 3.0.24
Hello
I want to use ntlm_auth together with winbindd for RADIUS-authentication
of users against the users of a Samba-server. The freeRADIUS-daemon and
the Samba-, winbindd- and ntlm_auth binaries are all on the same
machine. Samba works fine and the whole setup worked fine with Samba
3.0.22. Actually I have to set up this scenario on a machine with Samba
3.0.24 and it does not work at all :-(.

Mounting Snapshots
Hello
I am doing a research project (http://www.ites-project.org/) and want to
be able to mount VM images (all kinds of VMs, starting with VirtualBox).
For that libguestfs seems perfect. I am already able to mount the base
HD, but I was not able to additionally mount the overlaying Snapshot files.
Is there a way to mount several HD files onto each other ?
Thanks

Samba and Visual C++
I've just tried to install MS Visual C++ 6.0 on our Samba 2.0.5a
Linux Server. When I was asked for the installation directory I tried
to use a samba-share that was mounted on a network drive letter. Just
after this the setup programm refused the path as incorrect. Now the
question: Is it impossible to install the VC6 package server based?
I don't wan't to install this big package on

[Very Strange] Windows Networking suddendly stopped working
Hi list,
I hope that maybe one of you can shed some light on this, as this is a very
strange case and I don't even
have the slightest clue from what this symptom may all come from. Maybe not
Samba, maybe Hardware, maybe buggy
windows .....
Problem:
We have running a Samba 3.0.7 (from backports.org) Debian 3.0 STABLE Server here
for over a year now. On Tuesday this week we got the first

X-Post from Linux-RAID [Re: I just trashed my RAID5 array - recovery possible?]
Hi,
originally I posted this to linux-raid@vger.kernel.org, but I guess
there are chances that someone in here might comment on it as well.
TIA.

/packaging/SuSE/6.0
Hie all,
I'm trying to use samba 2.0.4b on a SuSE 6.1 Linux box.
What should I do with these two files :
samba-2.0.0.dif
samba.spec
from the samba-2.0.4b/packaging/SuSE/6.0 directory.
Is there any modification to do to have samba running without
problems on SuSE 6.1 ?
Thanks for help.

[PATCH v2] drm/nouveau: fix incorrect conversion to dma_resv_wait_timeout()
Commit 41d351f29528 ("drm/nouveau: stop using ttm_bo_wait")
converted from ttm_bo_wait_ctx() to dma_resv_wait_timeout().
However, dma_resv_wait_timeout() returns greater than zero on
success as opposed to ttm_bo_wait_ctx(). As a result, relocs
will fail and log errors even when it was a success.
Change the return code handling to match that of
nouveau_gem_ioctl_cpu_prep(), which was

[PATCH 4/21] i386 Broken bios common
Both the APM BIOS and PnP BIOS code use a segment hack to simulate real
mode selector 0x40 (which points to the BIOS data area at 0x00400 in
real mode). Several broken BIOSen use selector 0x40 as if they were
running in real mode, which we make work by faking up selector 0x40 in
the GDT to point to physical memory starting at 0x400. We limit the
access to the remainder of this physical page

Routing - new table
Hello,
I have tested a simple thing in two version of Linux and there was a
problem when I have used fwmark as a selector for rule lookups. As you
can see below on the Slack, the <test> table doesn''t have any label
about fwmark. Is there an iproute problem?

Disconnects with proxies
Hi,
I know I shouldn't ask stuff like this when using dovecot-0.99.11-4.EL4
(CentOS-4.4), but why I'm asking this is whether it's worth to switch
from rpm based upstream dovecot to a self compiled one or not and thus I
think you wouldn't kill me presenting you this question. o:-)

dovecot disconnect(s)
Hi, I've got a problem with dovecot regarding a pop3 proxy issue.
When I configure a dovecot server to do just plain pop3 I can telnet
from a windows box without any flaw, but as soon as the client uses some
pop3 proxy (for example outlook uses avira antivir Mail-AntiVirus
Protection), queries to that server fail. A log line looks like this:
pop3-login: Dec 05 22:53:24 Info: Disconnected
