What is writing to my filesystem
I have a CentOS 5.2 box that every few months runs out of drivespace on its root filesystem. Last time I manually searched and deleted some big files, but don't remember what they were or what wrote to them. The applications I'm aware of on the box don't write to /. Is there a way to find the files that get written to the most, or grow the most over time? Doing a df gives me a

syslinux can't read the configuration file on USB
Hi, I have the following weird problem with syslinux, and I was hoping that some1 on this list might be able to help: I am using syslinux 3.86 on CentOS-5.4 64bit. I'm creating a custom installation image for my distribution (customized centos). I first create a file with the image, and later on I write it to a USB disk. This procedure have been working quite good for a very long time.

Session logging in Windows98?
I'd like to log all console I/O for an entire session while maintaining normal console I/O. I'm working in Windows98, RGui, R1.1.1. The sink() function is not the answer since it diverts output from the console. In the RFAQ I see references to "...save the contents of the interaction buffer to a file..." and in the R-Help Archive "...just save the console output...". I

Slowdown when copying large files (PR#8617)
> Further to my previous post, I have made an interesting discovery. This > particular slowdown only occurs from clients that are running > Windows 98. The Windows98 explorer (and possibly other programs) incorrectly set the "sync" bit in write requests to network shares. This causes an enormous slowdown as Samba (quite correctly) does a fsync() on the file after each write.

Lines between panels in lattice
Hello, I have a multi-page display each consisting of two-panels above each other. I need to draw a line from the top panel to bottom panel. Using current.vpTree() i find that "plot1.panel.1.2.vp" and "plot1.panel.1.1.vp" are the top and bottom ones respectively. I am using the following code(inspired by Paul Murrell's R Graphics) to draw a line. (All the

On Ubuntu 12.04 64 bits : stack overflow
Hi, I have little experience with Wine. I use it to run two old applications I made on Windows98. With WINE 1.4 installed on Ubuntu 11.10 32 bits, they both run fine. On my new install of Ubuntu 12.10 64 bits, with the same settings, one of them won't run. First I installed WINE 1.5.3 from the Wine ppa. Then I uninstalled it and installed WINE 1.4 from the Ubuntu repositories. In both

Can't even connect to my server via ping/http/telnet
Quite a strange error, and I am very interested to see if anyone can figure this one out: While trying to access my Samba 2.0.5/RedHat 6.0 server via PPP from Win98 on my laptop, I can't ping, http, or telnet there. No error messages, just timeouts. All this works from my LAN, but not when I dial-up somewhere (tried w/ mulitple ISPs). I know it's not a DNS issue, because it works when

pxelinux bootup problems on EPIA-M
Hi, I was wondering if anyone had a good dhcpd.conf and /tftpboot files for a EPIA-M motherboard with RedHat 9.0.... Or maybe just a configuration that works with the EPIA-M (doesn't matter which type of linux). I'm trying to boot the system from the network and it seems to be getting to downloading pxelinux.0 but then nothing happens after that.... I'm using ISC dhcpd V3.0pl2,

samb.conf
I'm very new to linux, I'm using Linux 8.0, seemed very easy to configure at first, but I'm having trouble configuring how to connect to my computer using linux from my computer using windows98. I see the Mygroup Icon in NetworkNeighborhood and also my user name, but when I click on it, it says to provide a password. I use my user password from linux but no avail. Somewhere I

Printer question: Generic postscript from windows
I have a lexmark Z53 attached to a linux samba server. My native windows clients and my linux clients (thanks to linux support from lexmark) can print to it with no problem. However, when I use windows over win4lin, the drivers don't install. They always fail with a spool32 error. This happens with the lexmark z32 also. I have no trouble installing other printers from the large list that comes

na.action=na.omit doesn't omit in glm() (PR#1282)
Full_Name: Ralph Mac Nally Version: 1.40 OS: MacOS9x/Windows98 Submission from: (NULL) (130.194.13.180) I'm using a simple glm in which the dependent variable may have missing data (coded 'NA') as usual. Both the default na.action (na.omit) and explicit 'na.action=na.omit' do not seem to ignore the missing data as I expect, generating an error to that effect (NA passed to

Would you please tell me where to get help. I'm not the ordinary person who will ask for it and bother you just because it isn't convenient to learn from your docs. I CANNOT use Samba because it fails to let me into my Linux server which is running it from my Windows98 network neighborhood icon. It keeps requiring a password. I keep doing what all the docs say to change the password.
