pxelinux and startrom.com
Hello all, I'm having difficulty getting pxelinux to chain load Microsoft's startrom.com. startrom.com starts up, but upon pressing F12 i get an immediate "TFTP Download failed". Any thoughts? PXE boot Centos 4.0beta problems
Has anyone yet tried PXE booting the vmlinuz/initrd.img set from Centos 4.0beta2? I have a pxelinux setup that is booting 3.4 PXE images fine, but the equivalent setup for 4.0beta loads the kernel and then splashes the monitor full of multicolor random characters. Not a good start to an install... Anyone had luck? Any changes for PXE boots known for 4.0? Thanks in advance. -Alan

Suggestion for improving syslinux man page.
I would suggest putting this syslinux web page info near the top of the man page. I was using debian, which has all the linux images being linux.bin. So, to make my own boot disk, I thought I would just copy bzImage to the floppy as linux.bin. Big mistake, if one does that it will not work, and one gets output like: - 0400 AX:0208 BX:0200 CX:0002 DX:0000 etc. Just renaming

Can this work?
I would like to develop a system where by I can boot any of the machines on my system - and select from a menu what I would like that particular client to do. For example, maybe load a bootdisk image from a network share, and boot that. Or boot the first partition on the local disk.

Patching doc/syslinux.txt, partialy because #647603 on Debian
My reason for patching circa line 225 is that I think it is clearer. The reason for patching circa line 575 is http://bugs.debian.org/647603. They concluded that a .0 file is recognized not only by PXELINUX. Syslinux 5.00 released
Hi folks, Syslinux 5.00 is out in time for the holidays. This release includes a lot of changes from 4.06. I've included the NEWS entries below, which highlight the major changes. Lots of assembly code has been rewritten in C, which makes further development much easier (and also really helped for the 'firmware' abstraction that appears in Syslinux-6.00-pre1). So be on the lookout

Shutdown from PXELinux
Hi Please excuse my english ... Does somebody have a .c32 , .cbt or .exe program to shutdown an ACPI and/or APM BIOS PC from PXELinux or DOS ? Or could be shutdown added as an option to PXELinux ? School environment, remote administration. On night time the electrical power is turned off in labs and PC loose WakeOnLan(WOL) and AlertStandardFormat(ASF) capabilities. In the morning when the

Chain loading hard disk with gPXELinux
Hello syslinux mailing list, I've been working on a kind of system administration tool ( http://twyna.sourceforge.net/) with a colleague of mine for our Computer Science Bachelor degree internship. I hope I'm saying that right :) We use gPXELinux to boot over a web service and it's all working marvellously, except for the localboot bug. Until now we've used chain.c32 to solve

alternate tftp server
i just discovered the alternate ftp server syntax for pxelinux in the changelog today. this interests me as I would like to use pxelinux on a linux box to give a config file which tells pxelinux to fetch the windows 2003 bootloader program (actually startrom.n12 from windows 2003) from the windows box. IE: label windows kernel 192.168.1.2::startrom.0 since i can watch the fetching of

some issues with modules/syslinux
Dear Syslinux bootloader list, I'm running into a few issues concerning Syslinux modules here, hoping you can answer one or more of the following questions: * Where's "ifmemdsk.c32" ? 4.05, 4.06pre1 and latest 4.10pre seem to lack it. Only the "ifmemdsk.c" file, which is likely sourcecode. Not seeing any "ifmemdsk.cbt" legacy comboot module. * Do COM32

HP Probook 6570b - Unable to locate configuration file
Hi, We currently use pxelinux and tftp-hpa for pxe booting new machines and installing our OS of choice. This has worked great for the past year, and just about every HP laptop we've tried so far has worked flawlessy, until now...? We recently bought a bunch of HP ProBook 6570b laptops but couldn't get them to work with our pxelinux setup. What we see is that the 6570b stops at the

extlinux from syslinux 4.04 failed hard after choosing bzImage.
Hi, Today I replaced grub(1) with syslinux on my laptop, after rebooting to syslinux and selecting kernel I got massive freeze along with colorful output to screen - http://i.imgur.com/lFjFc.jpg I think I tried everything, even doing esc and writing after boot: /bzImage-3.1.0, after enter I had the same freeze with the same screen artefacts. How I installed extlinux: mkdir /boot/extlinux

ISOLINUX users - debugging on by default?
I'm considering the suggestion which was raised before about turning the debugging messages on by default in isolinux, or specifically, not building the non-debugging-messages version in the standard distribution. What do people think (especially distro maintainers?) -hpa
