Problem with mkisofs (i guess :-))
Hello! I have a problem with a bootable cd that i'm trying to make .. The problem is that i don't know what all the mkisofs parameters do and because that weird things happen, if the filenames or directorynames contain spaces they do not open and if i'm in windows's safe mode it gives me an error message stating that the file or folder does not exist! Can anyone help with that?

mkisofs bug ?
I need to make a iso image with the filesystem like nero does and i need it for the windows platform not for linux... I need something that does not restrict filenames, it doesn't boder me that are shortnames as long as it let's me access the directory or filename. This is the commandline I use to compile my iso file: %BASEDIR%\isolinux\buildcd\win32\mkisofs -r -log-file log.txt -J -l

[PATCH] Add some man pages.
Add very basic pages for: isohybrid - It's not particularly more useful than --help, but my QA department really wants this to exist. memdiskfind - Explain what it does and its invocation. ISOLINUX help requested (checksum error)
Hi Mr Anvin, after downloading the Freedos bootable cd, which now uses your projects (ISOLINUX & MEMDISK) instead of Bart Lagerweij's DISKEMU (www.nu2.nu), I contacted the creator of the freedos cdrom. I was interested in how he did make that cd bootable. Now I understand it a bit. As I'm a MS Windows user, I had to figure some things out. However, upon booting I get a beautiful

a few sys/isolinux questions
Hi all, I am using sys/isolinux for a mini-distro I am developing (movix.sf.net) and I have a few questions based on the feedback I got from users. As it is well known, there are some BIOS on which isolinux does not work, so I had to create a boot floppy image for those unfortunate users that have that kind of BIOS. The floppy boots, looks for the CD and, if succesful, mounts the CD initrd.gz

Virtual PC not booting
Hi I tried building Mandrake 9.2 DVD (combine files from iso images and so on). Then I tried to boot it in MS Virtual PC 2004 and it didn't work. After a while of expirementing I found out that no images work. Attached is sample cd image. (Made with Nero 6.3). I wonder is the problem in Nero, Virtual PC or in syslinux? isolinux-debug.bin gives following messages: --- ISOLINUX 2.08

Re: Multiple client access same file
Ohh, hmm. I'll try it at work if I get some time and see what happens. I have a Samba benchmark I can run against one of our unused servers, and I'll try to have 16 "users" access the same iso copied and mounted twice, just as you're doing. I might not get time to do this next week, so in the mean time, a good troubleshooting technique is to strip any as many smb.conf

problem with isolinux or mkisofs?
Hello, I'm Jacques living in France. I have a problem when I use isolinux. I'm working on a multiboot cdrom so I make many "mkisofs" for testing. The problem is that when I modify the "isolinux.cfg" file and then build my image with mkisofs it's the previous configuration of my "isolinux.cfg" which appears on my screen (I run the .iso file with qemu...)

bug+fix: isolinux, mkisofs - added one directory to the CD => won't boot
[cross-posted to nntp://comp.os.linux.setup, sorry] Dear Everyone, I'm writing this message merely to publish this information somewhere visible, so that others can find it when debugging a linux-based bootable CD compilation setup... For many months now, I've been using cdrtools 2.0 with isolinux 2.04 to create bootable Linux CD's. I know there are newer versions of both

64-bit ISO Burning Failures
Hi, I have downloaded several different sets of the 64-bit ISOs, and have burned them to CD using various of my known-good ISO burning softwares, including Nero and DeepBurn on Windows, as well as the native CD burning KDE linux tool on Xandros Linux. I am using mirrors from the site, like kernel.org. I have chosen low burning speeds also, but when I insert the ISO CD into a server and boot it

isolinux needing mkisofs (2.12-pre11)
Tried both normal and debug images with Roxio 6 and Nero 6.6. Everything worked fine. Also tried cdrwin and ran into an interesting issue with it regarding it's support of image files >8k -- reported it to them. FYI, tried booting on 2 Intel and 2 Asus planars all reported no info returned in the spec packet. David >Okay, after a bit more research I ended up implementing this

LPRng question
<It seems that the print command is trying to find the printer at location 'localhost'. Since this is a network printer it is not at localhost is it?> Yeah, the error messages made no sense to me either! Well, like I said earlier: < The IP address of this printer is 10.1.1.192. I call this printer nero, and have it listed in my /etc/hosts file> Here is a copy of part of my

isolinux needing mkisofs
Due to limitations of equipment, I have need of using the isolinux boot loader with .iso files generated by roxio. After trying (and of course failing) with an off the shelf version of isolinux, I grabbed the source for isolinux (syslinux 2.11 package) and started looking. It took a few hours to orient myself, but I ended up doing the modification below to isolinux.asm. I then had to write
