Cannot get CentOS to install
I used google but did not come up with anything current to solve my problem.
I have not tried any other search engines yet.
There is not a search for the CentOS list so I am creating a new post.
I have tested the CentOS 5.2 and RHEL 5.3 CD's and they passed.
I had to use linux mediacheck ide=nodma to get them to pass.
The newest releases seem to most times fail with just linux mediacheck.

syslinux 3.11 patch for handling both KVM and serial console input
We modified our copy of syslinux. We're now sharing those
modifications. That's so that:
1. We fulfill our requirements under the GPL
2. Our modifications might be picked up and included in the base
code. That way we wouldn't have to make the same
modifications, again, later.
Since we're using CentOS 5.3, and CentOS 5.3 derives from RHEL
5.3, and RHEL 5.3 uses

Unable to mount root fs
Hey all,
I'am able to use pxelinux to successfully boot a particular kernel and
image on various IBM PC's ex. 6287-41U and 6591-34U. However, using the same
setup (ie. dhcp, tftp, pxelinux.0, pxelinux.cfg, networkcard, bootrom,
ram memory) on an IBM 6282-73U my kernel and image decompress fine but I'am
getting a...

colon in syslinux.cfg leads to "Unknown keyword"
hi,
sorry for bothering the list but since I didn't find anything in the
documentation or archives I would be grateful for your help.
For a customized USB installer (based on redhat anaconda) I wanted to pass
an kernel parameter which contains a colon.
This leads twice to the error message
"Unknown keyword in syslinux.cfg."

isolinux problem report
I have tried to use isolinux 2.05, and I am running into a problem where it
will not boot. I have previously used version 1.66, and the older version
works just fine. Changing nothing except dropping the new version in does
not work.
Below is all of the relevant info, I believe. This occurs on multiple
machines with different BIOS. I am currently in process of doing a binary

I now come across another issue I cannot resolve and would appreciate some
help.
in my /tftpboot/pxelinux.cfg/default file I have cause to use the APPEND

to the kernel being used.
Unfortunately this line has now become longer than 255 characters and

Hello !
Maybe passing argument root=/dev/ram0 or root=/dev/rd/0 would help ?
I use isolinux and it works in the isolinux.cfg

ifcpu64.c32 not working properly when used in a menu include file
The following is a pxelinux problem, specifically to do with
including config files with the menu include directive and the
ifcpu64.c32 com module.
I have a working ifcpu64.c32 setup that jumps to the label rescue64
in the case of a 64-bit CPU. The label "rescue64" defines a 64-bit
kernel and a 64-bit initrd.img. The setup jumps to a label named
"rescue32" in the case of a

bad performance on ATA promise controllers
Hello friends,
I'm having a problem with my home server (ASUS A7V133 motherboard) which has
a horrible performance with ATA disks connected to an integrated promise
controller.
Below you can see iozone results of the same disk connected to the primary/
secondary controller versus the promise one.

General question on QA from a Fedora Core fan
Apologies if this ends up a dup, but there seems to have been a problem
with my original subscription.
------------------------------
Hello,
I am currently using Fedora on most of my servers. It does pretty
well. I do have occasional problems which seem to me to stem from poor QA.
For example, /usr/bin/enable <queue> coming back with "Enable: I don't
know what to do!"

Installing 4.4 - problem on 386
I tried installing with several options (noacpi noapm; noprobe; noprobe
skipddc noacpi noapm nodma). Always I get the same error.
BUT this is not in fac a CentOS problem at all, because I get the same error
always when I boot from hd (Fedora Core), IF there is a CD in the CD-ROM
drive. (I tried with CentOS 1/4, CentOS 2/4 and a HP printer software CD.)
It must be something with the CD drive!

Hi.
I'm trying to put together a boot cd using isolinux, but I've run into a

Menu examples?
Hi all,
I'm looking for some menu examples for Murali's menu system.
Specifically, a headstart on creating a Kickstart menu which covers the
most common options with the intention of creating this:

append ksdevice=eth0
ks=http://kickstartserver/$DIST/Custom/ks.cfg.$DIST

what happens to text after the label?
Hi All,
Interesting that I couldn't find this documented anywhere, but
what happens to text that is typed after the label on the syslinux
prompt?
My current issue is I'm using PXE to do kickstart installations. I
want the ability to do "rescue" boots also with PXE. I've gone
looking at the current RH80 disk 1 which has this capability. It
has a directory called

Codeweaver's Wine - Autolaunch?
I had a little trouble installing WINE and, becuase of that, tried several
different versions. It turned out the sound trouble was not a WINE issue,
but a devfs issue, so I deactivated devfs (devfs=nomount).
I am using the latest RPM of Codeweaver's WINE with Mandrake 8.1.
I've got Codeweaver's WINE up and running now. When I first tried this, I
could type a win .exe file from

[PATCH] efi: leaving long mode in kernel_jump routine
Actually your Syslinux config is less relevant than the kernel config
file. Indeed Syslinux infers the method to use from the kernel image itself.
I assume the .config is public. I will take a look as soon as I can

2.4.21-27.0.1.ELsmp & megaraid2 problem
I've found a problem with CentOS 3 latest kernel (2.4.21-27.0.1.ELsmp)
and megaraid2 driver.
Hardware: Dell PE1600SC with CERC ATA100 RAID controller
The problem is somewhat similar, but not identical as:

After updating new glibc and kernel packages the new kernel don't boot.
