Making TIMEOUT work?
I have problems getting the TIMEOUT value work the same way LILO/GRUB does it.. ie it should wait until the timeout and then use the default value. However, it goes straight for the default value without waiting a single second (and a TIMEOUT value of 500 should mean 50 seconds, as it counts in 1/10th of a second, right?) root fs mounts as ext2, others ext3
I have ext2 compiled in the kernel (so i can mount the initrd image), all other filesystems are modules. YUM and Tripwaire
I am looking for a location where I can get tripwire to install and update via YUM. I know this is not the most secure thing but with the amount of machines that I have, I have not other choice. So far I have found http://download.fedoralegacy.org/redhat/9/updates/SRPMS/ Does anyone know one for CentOS? Thanks ---------------------------------------------------------------------- This mail

OpenGroupware.Org
Hi all! I'm thinking on installing OGO on CentOS 4. I've been to download.opengroupware.org but I didn't find any CentOS/RHEL 4 specific rpm packages. I'm wondering, since RHEL4/CentOS4 is based on Fedora Core 3, can I use these packages safely? Has anyone ever tried installing OGO on CentOS 4? Has anyone ever used ogoall-...rpm ? Thankx in advance. Best regards, Pedro

mythtv on centos4
Has anyone had any success or failures with installing mythtv onto centos4? Even better, has anyone any prebuilt rpms to do this? Looks to me like centos+mythtv is quite an interesting prospect in the always-on single home server environment. -- Cheers, Tony

firefox 1.0.3 for CentOS-3/s390(x)
Hi, Merged the XOS Team fixes for firefox 1.0 and made a CentOS-3 version of few hours ago released CentOS-4 update. The CentOS-3 version is actually only .spec file mod from CentOS-4, so it should be pretty much same. ... that is IF someone is crazy enought to run firefox under hercules or real iron - at least you can as the binary is available :) s390:

2.4.21-27.0.1.ELsmp & megaraid2 problem
I've found a problem with CentOS 3 latest kernel (2.4.21-27.0.1.ELsmp) and megaraid2 driver. Hardware: Dell PE1600SC with CERC ATA100 RAID controller The problem is somewhat similar, but not identical as: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=123289 After updating new glibc and kernel packages the new kernel don't boot. Pioneer DVD-120s probe problem
Hello, I'm building a new system for a friend and I bought a Pioneer DVD-120s drive for him because it was a newer version of the drive I use (DVD-116) and my friend uses (DVD-106s) with FreeBSD. The problem is that FreeBSD cannot probe the drive for some reason. I've tried twiddling the ATAPI_DMA bit, rescanned the drive, and toyed with the cable, but nothing seems to work. The

[SAGE] FreeBSD 4.4-REL to FreeBSD 4.8-STABLE upgrade problem.

ext3 0.9.6 vs ext3 0.9.9
Hello, I have done extensive testing between 2.4.9 and 2.4.9-ac12 with ext3 0.9.6 and 0.9.9. I also tried using both kgcc and gcc-2.96. I have a problem with logging into xdm or starting the gnome-session totally locking up the machine while using ext3 0.9.9. It seems to go away using ext3-0.9.6. During xdm/gnome-session the hard disk is under heavy activity. I have attached my kernel config.

hm ...
About two weeks ago i was whining about an inode that got lost, now i'm going to whine more about strange things happening here. A matroxfb just oopsed on me (thats not strange), the machine got unusuable, so i logged in from another and got the idea to touch /forcefsck. Upon reboot, fsck said that some inodes are in use but have dtime set and that some files are illegal sockets. Now this

Avoiding users change permissions
Hi, I finally set up samba 3 with ads, and acl support and everything works just great. The server is an AMD Duron 1200Mhz, 256Mb 266Mhz Ram, 2 ATA100 disks 10 Gb RAID1, 2 ATA133 200Gb RAID1 disks each one master on a separate ide port. Forgive my english, it's my 17th consecutive hour at work and I'm pretty tired. This server, that it's going to replace a win2k box, it's a
