kbdmap & ASCII > 128
Hi,
I've just played around with kbdmap in pxelinux. I always wondered why there was no
translation for "AltGr"-Keys (the right 'Alt'-Key) (AltGr-Q generates "@" on a german
keyboard e.g.), and I found in conio.inc (syslinux 1.76):
getchar:
[..]
.kbd: xor ax,ax ; Get keyboard input
int 16h
and al,al
jz .func_key
mov bx,KbdMap ; Convert character sets

hpa-tftp with xinetd
Good day,
Just a quick question- could someone please confirm that this is the correct
xinetd configuration (or not) for hpa-tftp?
We've noticed that, when under moderate load hpa-tftpd resides in memory,
even after there are no connections or even if xinetd is shut down. Under
light load the server goes away after each connection, as desired.
Thanks in advance!

Intel Boot Agent 4.0.19
First, THANKS! The SYSLINUX/PXELINUX s/w and docs are great. I have been
able to set up a working server for PXE boot in very little time, using our
existing Win2k DHCP server and a Red Hat 7.2 Linux server for tftp, etc...
It took very little time (compared to an earlier effort 4 months ago.....)
and the pxelinux/menu/memdisk environment is great for us.
The environment seems to support PXE

'implicit' doesn't prevent additional parameters?
Hi,
just tried the 'implicit 0'-option with pxelinux (btw, 1.73Pre6 - works).
What I wanted is preventing tricksters to give additional parameters
on the commandline. It prevents giving something different from the
'label'-statement ('Could not find kernel image:..'), but if I give e.g.
linux init=/bin/sh
it gives me a root shell. It should have taken the

Memdisk
Hi!
Sorry to bother you, but I don't know where else to ask about memdisk.
I'm trying to use memdisk + pxelinux with a DOS boot image, is this possible? It works great with redhat and debian install floppy images, but my freedos, and win98 boot disk just won't boot!
Is there some special way to prepare a dos image other than doing a sys a: or format a: /s in DOS, and then dd-ing it

Format for the Hard Disk image that SYSLinux can boot.
I couldn't find this information on your site for SysLinux, and I'm
sorry to bother you with this, now, but I was wondering
what format of hard disk images SysLinux supports. Is it a raw format,
or a format like drive image or ghost.
Thank you for your time,
Joseph Baugher

Networking
I just found syslinux from freshmeat.net, I'm trying to build a boot
disk that will do the following.
- Boot an OS from floppy
- Partition hard disk >4GB
- format hard disk, with specific cluster sizes
- perhaps load a network stack
I'm trying to automate system builds, but DOS based disks have the
limitation of not being able to do many types of file systems, if you

ramdisk load
Hello!
I'd like to load a ramdisk with syslinux, but from another disk.
And I've found this in the syslinux faq:
"An initrd is loaded from a DOS file if the option "initrd=filename"
(where filename is the filename of the initrd image; the file must be
located in the root directory on the boot floppy)"

Can not poweroff ?
Hi,
I use pxelinux to boot remotely from nfs server. When I use /usr/bin/poweroff to shut down my pc, it can not power off automaticly.
However, if the pc boots from HD, it can power off automaticly by poweroff command.
Thanks!
Sincerely,
