Question about the isolinux.cfg file?
Hi Mr Anvin, I'm using your isolinux.cfg file in Bart's CD creating files, and was hoping you could help me with something. When the CD boots and you're shown the menu (which is from your isolinux.cfg file I think), I'm hoping there may be a command that I can use with your isolinux.cfg file to check for a specific file on the primary hard drive (Like the old DOS IF EXIST command).

memtest86 problem
Hi! At first thanks for your great work! I started to make multiboot CDs 1,5 years ago, with Bart Lagerweij 's utils. I have a problem with the memtest86 floppy image, made by the authors in the .zip file, downloadable from it's homepage, when I use diskemu. Some days ago I found on Bart's page a new method to select boot images on CD with syslinux/isolinux/memdisk. I thought this is

SYSLinux/ISOLinux question
Look into the original XP cd and see where NTLDR is located, then place it on your cd in the same directory and it 'should' work. I have created some 2000 XP boot cd's with integrated recent service pack's and they still boot. But I do that with cdrecord+original boot sector, not with any isolinux stuff... But I hope this help! -----Original Message----- From: G. Murali

Isolinux doesn't boot
hi, i've been trying around for a month or so to get isolinux on my toshiba satellite 4010cdt running. It doesn't really work. The debug version says the following: ISOLINUX 1.75 2002-06-14 ... isolinux: Startinug up, DL = 82 isolinux: Loaded spec packed OK, drive = 82 and that's it. No boot there. Memdisk
Memdisk 2.08 cannot boot an XP boot floppy image (XP appears to use WinME boot files for its bootable floppy). For example: http://members.iinet.net.au/~bdriver/bootdisk/download.htm This disk will not boot with Memdisk (Memdisk starts to load the image and then hangs). I'm using Bart's tools to build a boot CD: http://www.nu2.nu/corpmodboot/ Which uses Isolinux and Memdisk.

unloading memdisk
Hi Peter, I'm using isolinux and memdisk to create a multiboot rescue cd for personal use as described on Bart's page (www.nu2.nu). One boot item is to boot DOS 7.1 from Win98SE with a lot of other staff for emergencies. This DOS bootimage puts all necessary stuff into it's own ramdisk (XMSDSK). Some progs on the ramdisk needs access to floppy drive A: and unfortunately I've no

question - memdisk
Hello! I am already using isolinux & memdisk for making bootable cd-roms (with Bart's method - www.nu2.nu). My question is if memdisk can be used to boot a disk image, directly from hard disk - when in Dos mode. thank you, Adrian Tarog Scanare antivirus realizata de mailserver-ul Jolidon

Isolinux bug: CD bootsector support broken
HPA, I believe that support to boot windows CD bootsectors was broken in 3.05. I have tested 2.13, 3.00, 3.02, 3.05, 3.06, 3.08, 3.11, and 3.20pre6. All versions >= 3.05 are broken. All versions <= 3.02 work fine with the same config. The error message I get is: ================================================================ IOSLINUX 3.20 3.20-pre6 Copyright (C) 1994-2005 H. Location and name of configuration files
Just thinking out loud, but thought I'd better check with you syslinux experts ... Far too many times I've converted an .iso file to boot off a USB disk by renaming the isolinux directory and isolinux.cfg file, and far too many times also forgotten to do so the first time round. Looking at the various mailing lists on the web shows users often have problem getting a USB stick to work due

PXE booting ISO images with ISOLINUX
I am trying to PXE boot an ISO image using ISOLINUX. I am starting small just trying to get anything working but seem to be having problems. I followed the instructions on the isolinux page (http://syslinux.zytor.com/iso.php) but still cannot get it to work. I can get the ISO image to try to load but then it stops at the booting message. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Here is

ISOLINUX help requested (checksum error)
Hi Mr Anvin, after downloading the Freedos bootable cd, which now uses your projects (ISOLINUX & MEMDISK) instead of Bart Lagerweij's DISKEMU (www.nu2.nu), I contacted the creator of the freedos cdrom. I was interested in how he did make that cd bootable. Now I understand it a bit. As I'm a MS Windows user, I had to figure some things out. However, upon booting I get a beautiful

ISOLinux wouldn't boot NT CD-ROM bootsect
Deal all, Hi. I'm a new user of isolinux. And I 'm trying to boot a WinXP installation CD with it. I extracted the bootsect, and place it into the same folder together with isolinux.bin. Here's a section of my isolinux.cfg: ... label winxp kernel xpsect.bin ... The boot splash showed fine. Unfortunately when I tried to boot it, I got the following: ISOLINUX 3.11 2005-09-02

Growing out of floppy images, what's the best alternative?
Hi. We've been using PXELINUX for years, to kick off OS installations (floppy images) and booting assorted tools. The addition of ISO support in memdisk opened up some new alternatives that we also use, e.g. booting WinPE ISO images over PXE. Today I downloaded a BIOS for a HP EliteBook 8440p and discovered that the BIOS file is 3 MB. I could probably squeeze it onto a 2.88 MB floppy image
