tftpd server
Hi In the pxelinux page, is referred that the tftpd server from http://tftpd32.jounin.net as working with pxelinux. However, from the tests I've made, it seems that the 'tsize' option is not supported. Anyone has knowledge of a working TFTPD server that runs on Windows NT4? p.s. it can be shareware, I just want to test it with NT4, I have had success with the 'builtin'

retrieve drive letter of USB Media.
Does SYSLINUX have any idea which DOS driveletter would be assigned to the disk it is booting from? At www.veder.com someone is trying to build a USB flash drive. However, FreeDOS does not seem to boot correctly from it (bootsector trouble maybe, or kernel itself is confusing drives), thus we're thinking of using Syslinux + Memdisk + bootimage, but somehow we want to be able to also access the

unloading memdisk
Hi Peter, I'm using isolinux and memdisk to create a multiboot rescue cd for personal use as described on Bart's page (www.nu2.nu). One boot item is to boot DOS 7.1 from Win98SE with a lot of other staff for emergencies. This DOS bootimage puts all necessary stuff into it's own ramdisk (XMSDSK). Some progs on the ramdisk needs access to floppy drive A: and unfortunately I've no

Excel 2002, Samba 3.0.2, and "Overwriting Changes"
Hello, we are experiencing the same problem. Users get a question from Excel 2002 in the format: The file "<insert .xls file here>" may have been changed by another user since you last save it. In that case, what do you want to do?" You are then given the option to save a copy, or to overwrite changes. We are running 2.2.8a, but in similar environments using the same

Integrate 3com boot image files?
Hello Peter, do you know a way to integrate existing submenu's created by the 3com boot image editor into pxelinux? I know it is possible to build the menu's in pxelinux and use memdisk for imagefiles, but it will mean to recreate about 70 menu's and 350-400 image files. Yours sincerely Peter Leenders

How to unload memdisk within DOS?
Hi SysLinux, i'm using pxelinux.0 and memdisk to successfully boot dos on my PXE capable workstation. But aber the DOS boot I need to get access to Drive A: again. My DOS bootimage is putting all necessary stuff into it's own RAMdisk. How can I disable memdisk, so that it releases drive A: (does not necessarily free the allocated memory for it's RAMdisk ..) with kind regards / mit

Re: WinME command.com (was Re: Problems with Memdisk 2.04)
Hi, I've got the same Problem. Not with WinMe but Win 98SE. But what I figured out is, that it doesn't realy apply to the Command.com rather to the Way the BootImage was created. It took me a long time to get my Hands on a Image with 2.8MB that's working. Since creating one my self, was allways failling. I downloaded the Bootutils 4.3 from 3com and used the Imageedit tools. With these

KEEPPXE/DOS
First off I love syslinux and it has worked flawless for us on the unix side of the realm. We're trying to use our ghost images within a dos netboot using syslinux. Unfortunatly we can only pass DHCP ip's to hosts that exhibit a vendor code 'like windows/pxe/and other os's do". Unfortunatly DOS does not, so we cannot request a second IP after the pxe process to map samba

Help Memdisk + Pxelinux hangs
Hello, I am a *nix newbie I am trying to boot a DOS boot disk using PXE (to Ghost on windows images). We have an existing PXE server which successfully serves out PXElinux and Fedora builds based on that but my floppy disk image with memdisk isn't working I have tried a few different floppy images which people have posted as ones that work for them but I doubt the disk is the problem

The llva-emu code is extremely old and, as I recall, not very feature-filled. It was also done for a class project (I don't think it was used for the original LLVA publication, and it wasn't used for any of the subsequent LLVA/SVA publications

running R-code outside of R
R 2.7.0, WinXP Hi list, I have written some code in R that I would like to share with others who are not R-users. Is there a way to compile the code so it will run outside of R? The best thing would be a functionality to compile the code into a ".exe" file that does not require the user to have R installed or to know how to use R. The persons I would like to make the program available

Re: WinME command.com
Hi.. Well i've tried each and every method to insert any winme command.com into any bootable image and its really giving me problems.... I even further tested the same image with reinserting the 98 command.com and the image worked just fine.. So acc to me the problem has to lie in me command.com as there is no real mode dos in ME.. Also try using umbpci.sys and lowdma.sys for managing

[LLVMdev] java front-end
Hi Minas, Thanks! I wasn't aware that VMKit had the ability to generate llvm code from .class / .jar files - I thought all of its code-generation capabilities were very closely tied to the VM itself. I'll look into this. The motivation behind this project is to be able to get both the small size and fast startup times of Avian, along with the speed of llvm-generated code. Currently,

Rebooting to hard drive from DOS floppy
Hi all, Do any of you have any ideas for getting a DOS floppy to reboot to the hard drive (which may contain Windows 98 or XP or Linux or Novell etc etc)? I want to use syslinux, but it does not support the localboot option like pxelinux and isolinux do. Basically, I want to boot DOS from a floppy, run some DOS stuff, then reboot to the hard drive while leaving the floppy disk in the drive.
