Problems with Shapiro Wilk's test of normality.
Hi,
I am trying to create a table with information from Shapiro Wilk's
test of normality.
However, it fails due to lack of sample size, it says, but the way I
see it, this is not a problem.
(See the table of sample sizes (almost) at the bottom).
Applying a different function using a similar ftable call is not a
problem (See the bottom table).
This is R 2.1.0 on Linux (Gentoo).

Bug in ext3=journal ?
Hi all!
While I was having some fun, testing different filesystems at home and
making some benchmarks, I hit a bug when running Postmark in an ext3
partition mounted with data=journal.
I repeated this test twice and got the same results under Linux 2.5,
also it was not found while mounting with data=writeback or data=ordered
or under Linux 2.4.
I don't know if it's a know problem or

Hard disk image to use with Memdisk
Hallo
I would like to have an image of about 8Mb to boot with ISOLINUX and
MEMDISK. I am not able to create an image complete of the MBR, as MEMDISK
requires. I think I should emulate an 8Mb disk in memory or on a file, but I
am able to do so only for a 'single partition'. Could you please suggest me
a way to obtain the image? I can use Linux or Windows tools, it does not
matter.

Modify memdisk to mask/overlay start of hard drive
I have a somewhat unique problem I am trying to solve that requires me
to temporarily replace the first 63s of the main hard drive and boot
the result. Basically, I am hoping it is possible to modify memdisk to
serve requests for the first 63 sectors from a ram disk and pass other
requests through to the hard drive. There will never be a read
spanning the two, so I don't need it to be able to

memdisk hard disk image
Can anyone please tell me how to create a bootable 10MB hard disk image
for use with memdisk? I'd like to use FreeDOS. And I know little of
DOS.
Thanks.

memdisk and usb flash devices as primary hard drives.
Has anybody tried to boot a dos disk via memdisk with a usb flash device
as a primary hard drive?
I have a 512MB flash key that when connected becomes my primary hard
drive (new bios) - 0x80. If I boot a MS-DOS 7.10 floppy, one gets the
command prompt and I can see the contents of my flash key as drive C:.
But, if I make a image of the floppy and boot the image via memdisk,
then memdisk

New Book on "Linux Filesystems"
I've lurked on this list for a long time, and have learned many details
on installing and using Ext3. Thanks! I'm finally posting to solicit
feedback on my recently-published book on "Linux Filesystems". This book
discusses the use, theory, and installation/integration of journaling
and distributed filesystems on Linux, and also discusses what I call
'filesystem adapters'

Creating hd images to memdisk
Hi,
I'm trying to create a hd image to use with memdisk:
dd if=/dev/zero of=doshd.img bs=1024 count=16384
and, via qemu, I installed freedos:
qemu -cdrom fdfullcd.iso -hda doshd.img -boot d
Everything gone ok and qemu boots freedos normally.
But, when I try to use the same image on memdisk the following message
appears:
Invalid Operation System!
I used the same process on USB key, with

MEMDISK and partition images
I just discovered the wonderful world of ISOLINUX/MEMDISK while
investigating how to make a boot CD that doesnt have floppy disk
size limitations on its boot images.
One thing has struck me as very odd about MEMDISK though - its
support for hard disk images is restricted to physical disk images
(ie. containing MBR/partition table).
It doesnt support individual partition images, despite the fact

memdisk and booting DOS images
Hello,
I seemed to have encountered a problem with memdisk that I have seen
before when I was playing around with USB device booting at one time.
Here's the scenario: Take fx a image of a PC DOS bootable diskette.
Boot the image via memdisk. This should boot fine if you use the
built-in motherboard ide controllers (ide0,ide1).
Now install a PCI IDE controller and put one IDE disk on the

memdisk and floppy images on 4801
Im trying to boot memtest86 via pxelinux, memdisk,
I found this advice on http://forum.x86-secret.com/viewtopic.php?t=2906
folks are making the image match a floppy size by one of the following:
dd if=memtest86+-1.xx.bin of=memtest.img bs=360k count=1 conv=sync
or
dd bs=360k count=1 conv=sync if=memtest86+-1.xx.bin|gzip > memtest.gz
I did the former, it did suppress the warning/errors I saw

Using CD to boot memdisk images?
I have a 32MB HD image that I can pxelinux.0/memdisk boot without issue. I
would like to both memdisk and my image on a CD and then boot from the CD
with pxelinux.0. Is this possible? If so how?
Thanks.

Memdisk: compressed floppy images
Are their any plans to allow compressed floppy images in later versions
of memdisk? Right now Im using isolinux/memdisk on a cd with quite a few
floppy images, each image has a different purpose as you can imagine.
Many of the floppy imaages are not 'full' and would benifit greatly from
compression. Is their a standard(ish) way to compress a floppy image,
maybe compress is misleading, Id

Memdisk and big floppy images
Haven't yet had a need for 10MB FDD images. The biggest I had to create was
5MB (5760kb). At that time I had to use WinImage to create the FDD image
and it took me a while to figure out the correct settings.
My notes state:
"I'm getting 'missing FAT' errors in WinImage, and 7-zip complains about
'unexpected end'. The fix is to increasing the FDD Heads from 2 to 4 and

memdisk hd images
How does one make a HD image? Floppy images are easy enough, but to have to
create a hdimage, you need MBR and partitions, etc... I want to create a
10MB DOS HD and boot it, how would I do this with Linux?
Thanks.
