setting sound indicators for Isolinux menu selections
Hello,
I am an active member of the Vinux community and have taken on a project of
remastering a Ubuntu installation Cd in order to make it accessable to a
blind user. I am able to sound the system bell when the boot menu loads by
adding a ^G to the label statement which works well to tell a blind user
they are at the boot menu. My intent is to sound the bell at each menu item,
but I'm unable

Isolinux serial console redirection issue
Hello all,
I'm trying to use the console to setup our cluster. In the past, we used a
floppy and it worked just fine. We had to manually use the "ks=" argument.
Now, I actually see the "menu" on the serial console *and* the monitor but I
can't use the keyboard. I can only use the keyboard that is connected on the
machine. Unplugging the keyboard doesn't help.

Add CONFIGISOLINUX, CONFIGSYSLINUX, CONFIGEXTLINUX and CONFIGPXELINUX
I would like to see that it is possible to specify which config file should be loaded.
I would like to have an extension of the CONFIG command. Normally CONFIG loads the file that is specified after it. It should be nice if syslinux/isolinux/pxelinux/extlinux can choose which config file to load, based on the bootloader from which the current config is runned. If

PROMPT 1
F1 /isolinux/txt/about.txt
F2 /isolinux/txt/message.txt

if i boot into the system and press F2 i get about.txt. then
i press F2 and get message.txt again.
If i then press F1 again i do not get as expected the about.txt
file, i just get another boot:

isolinux failing on serial console
Hi,
I have a problem with isolinux failing to boot a kernel whenever I navigate
and trigger the menu via serial console. My test machine is a DL585 G2,
with iLO2. Navigating and booting the kernels off of the video console
works 100% of the time. With the serial connection however, I _sometimes_
get a "menu.c32: not a COM32R image" error. Sometime it works fine. I
suspect the serial

New menu frontend to isolinux
Hi Peter,
I'm doing some work for HP creating various flavours of bootable CDs,
and am using isolinux for i386 and elilo for ia64. We wanted the same
interface on both systems, with the ability to choose a boot option from
a menu with the cursor keys. To implement this I enhanced isolinux to
support two new control fields in the message file:
0x01 ^A Mark left- or right-hand end of the

Making isolinux boot menu: problems
Thanks Didier,
Stephanie used Anarchy Linux to make our menu work.
Regarding the missing instructions at
https://wiki.syslinux.org/wiki/index.php?title=Menu
After comparing the (now working) menu with our old non-working menu
made using the instructions from the syslinux wiki page, she found
that it had many more .c32 files copied from /usr/share/syslinux and
there were a few critical ones to

syslinux vs isolinux - com32 serial port output problem
Hi Geert,
I'm building syslinux 6.04 from scratch to prevent any issues with mismatched com32 modules. This gives me a "pure" set of modules as well as "pure" isolinux and syslinux cores.
menu.c32 works perfectly on both the USB and CD boot media: I can move around the menu and select the command that I wish to use. In all cases, both the USB and CD boot properly into

Isolinux menu help
I'm trying to get the menu working with ISOLINUX. So far any time I use a memory test such as ram stress test or memtest86 it reboots or locks up.. If any one could point me in the right place to get some info on how to set up the menu It would be greatly appreciated. Right now I'm using the "simple menu" that is included with the SYSLINUX package. I've used ISOLINUX for

problems with isolinux over serial console
Hi,
I'm missing something in my isolinux.cfg configuration but I'm not quite
sure what it is. menu.c32 displays properly over video console, but on the
serial connection, the first letter of the labels are duplicated, and the
margin is pushed off towards the right:

my config is:

Making isolinux boot menu: problems
We're currently working on a custom distro which would have an
isolinux boot menu.
We're currently not able to make it work, and are looking for a good
example of an isolinux/ directory of an iso with such a boot menu. If
anyone knows one (on github, ...) please let us know.
Also, we think that there is either something missing from the
instructions over at

ISOLINUX 5.00 TEXT HELP directive hang
Conditions to trigger this bug(s):
1_ Boot with ISOLINUX (SYSLINUX seems fine).
2_ Do NOT use the UI directive.
3_ In between TEXT HELP - ENDTEXT directives, use more than one line
of text.
*** syslinux.cfg start ***
DEFAULT vesamenu.c32
PROMPT 0
LABEL pwd1
COM32 pwd.c32
TEXT HELP
one line of text
two lines of text
ENDTEXT
*** syslinux.cfg end ***
Result: the system ([vesa]menu) hangs.

isolinux serial console keyboard issue

I am trying to use the console to setup my machine.
During boot I am able see the syslinux boot prompt on
the serial console *and* the monitor, but I can not
use the console keyboard. I can only use the keyboard

6.04 hasn't seen a full release, only the pre1 pre-release.

syslinux and isolinux
Hi - I am trying to make a centos 5.2 x86_64 boot USB device for
installation.
I copied the centos 5.2 x86_64 DVD to a USB pen drive formatted for FAT32.
I then ran syslinux -sf /dev/sdc1 to get it to boot. I mounted it, and did
cp isolinux/vmlinuz .
cp isolinux/isolinux.cfg syslinux.cfg
then setup the MBR.
THe device booted but I got an error message about unknown command in
the syslinux.cfg
