Pxelinux/memdisk with Universal TCP/IP Network Bootdisk floppy
Just for the record, I want to let the list know that I succeeded in booting a modified Universal TCP/IP Network Bootdisk floppy from http://members.iinet.net.au/~bdriver/bootdisk/ I started with a Win98 Bootfloppy from http://www.tobs.uku.co.uk. Then I made a disk image from this, using dd.exe from cygwin. Then I converted this disk image from 1.44MB to 2.88MB with winimage. Then I copied

booting w98 bootdisk via memdisk
Hallo, I try to boot the windows 98 bootdisk via memdisk. It doesn't work completely. Booting a freedos FD image works, booting the windows 98 image works too. But the windows 98 boot disk then should extract the file "ebd.cab" with the file "extract.com", and that step fails. Is that a syslinux problem or a windows problem? Viele Gruesse! Helmut

At first when I tried to launch the bootimages with memdisk but I had no luck Then I added a MBR to the images and now Norton Ghost can launch but it first gives me a Windows 98 bootscreen and my customized Universal Network Bootdisk can't

PXE Bootdisk
Hello, I hope that I am applying this question to the correct place, if not I do apologise! I would like to create a boot floppy which mimics a PXE rom. In this instance I would like to boot very old non PXE NIC workstations and install them from our Windows RIS. Is it necessary that I create a some sort of full Linux boot cd to use for this purpose or is there a pre prepared boot disk already

`chroot` doesn't do `cd` to destination rootdir
Was it intentional feature, or it is a bug? Bug, because if, say initramfs `init` has # chroot /rootfs /bin/sh -i <>/rootfs/dev/tty2 1>&0 2>&0 # without any prior `cd`, then current directory will be one of the `init`, even if it is displayed by tools as `/' inside the chroot. ____

Boot USB:SATA:Partition4 from USBstik?
I want to be able to make a USBbootStik for my laptop, as I repeatedly did for the now stolen PC. I've got a copy of the required 2009, Slackware13 partition, saved to a USBdisk. And I've located the 175-line: <make bootStik script> . Of course just "chroot"ing Slak13, won't allow <make bootStik>. But why can't someone here, provide the info to make an

Invalid or corrupt kernel image
Hi, I am trying to setup my own PXE boot server. I tried several PXE bootable Linux-Distributions. For example if I use the ubuntu netboot image from [1] it works quit well but there are a few other images they do not work in my case e.g.: RIPLinuX [2]. A friend tested this image on his PXE boot server with success. I also checked the download with md5sum. In my case I can see the boot menu [3].

probs running stuff from initrd
Hello all Now I may be way of whack here, so please forgive me. I''m trying to merge xen with redhat''s config-netboot. The idea being a kinda stateless domU. For those that haven''t seen you share a rootfs and then bind mount all the individual files over then top, and the redhat gui builds all the pxeboot config and stuff for you if you want a diskless client. Can this work?
I would like to develop a system where by I can boot any of the machines on my system - and select from a menu what I would like that particular client to do. For example, maybe load a bootdisk image from a network share, and boot that. Or boot the first partition on the local disk.
