Sieve problem. Timo, is this mbox file size limitation hard coded? If so, why?
I would not have expected this upon implementing sieve. And I really need
to get around this limitation. LDA has no problem writing to these large
mbox files. Why does sieve have a problem with them? This is very odd.

Questions, :-) I'm a novice
I have EA's Need for Speed 2 and Need for Speed 3 Hot Pursuit.
Neither one will run on my WIN XP system. I have a pretty solid 3.0 Ghz system with a 256 MB nvidia graphics card.
I want to run these programs, can I download WINE HQ and play these?
I found this?

Re lative novice: Working with fitdistr(MASS): 3 questions
OK, I am now at the point where I can use fitdistr to obtain a fit of one of
the standard distributions to mydata.
It is quite remarkable how different the parameters are for different
samples through from the same system. Clearly the system itself is not
stationary.
Anyway, question 1: I require a visual perspective of the fit I get. I can
use hist.scott to get a hisogram (and just have to

Upgrade Samba 2.2.6 to 2.2.8 by novice
Hi,
I would like to install SWAT to administer Samba on my Mandrake 9.0 server.
The Swat file is ver 2.2.8 while my Samba is version 2.2.6. The installation
aborts because of version differences.
I have tried to upgrade Samba to version 2.2.8 but run into other problems
with dependencies. Am I correct in thinking that I have to uninstall Samba
first and then re-install the later version? And if

Large Directories Timeout smbfs & Windows
All,
This is my first posting to any of the Samba mailing lists.
I've been a lurker for a year or so as I've been working on
a VFS for the company I'm working for.
We're currently using Samba 3.0.10-4 on RedHat AS 3 Update 4
and we are observing the following problem both with our VFS
and with shares residing in a Linux directory on the Samba
server.
If a directory has lots of

Total novice
Hi.
I want to remove one of three hard drives. But if I just remove the
disk, Linux
signals errors and enters administrative mode requesting corrective
actions which,
of course, I do not know. If I reconnect the drive, everything returns
to normality.
Can anyone help me?
Thanks in advance.

Novice lme split plot model specification
I am a little confused about a simple model specification in lme().
I have Treatments A (levels=1:2) and B (levels=1:2), Blocks (1:10),
response Y. Levels of treatment A are assigned at random to entire blocks,
and all levels of B are applied to plots within each block.
(I believe that if all levels of A were applied to each block, then the
correct model statement would be:

current menu launches in text and I navigate by F numbers or typing the
corresponding Number next to the option that I want, I can handle setting
this up, but I want a graphical background now and more customized options.
So I am modifying simple.c to

Re: novice level question
I can't speak about whether or not this is a good practice, but I
recently removed an intermediate organization from my LDAP tree. It was
great as a logical entity but in practice it added an another layer to
an already complex structure.
I've had a great deal of experience with Novell that allows many layers
to a directory structure through NDS. It can become very confusing to
