PDC: "The trust relationship ... failed" from the beginning
Hi, When I try a net logon from Windows 7 64-bit Business (don't have any other Windows machines), I get "The trust relationship between this workstation and the primary domain failed". The discussion I've found around the Web regarding this error message seems to be only in the context of the 30 day password expiry issue, where the solution is to simply rejoin the domain.

Done too soon?
Hi All, I am using vorbis-tools 1.0. I have encoded some song to an ogg vorbis .ogg file, which seemed to work correctly. However, when I try to play the file in ogg123 or xmms, it stops at some constant point at the file, as if it ends there. However, if I seek past that point the playback works correctly to the end. I have tried other files, and it seems to stop at a different location in

retrieving object names passed indirectly to a function
Hi folks, I'm stuck with a problem that I suspect has a trivial solution... I have a function, call it foo, that takes a number of arguments which it uses as parameters for a simulation. For later analysis, foo stores the names of the objects passed to it along with the simulation results in its output (written to a database). The objects names are accessed with deparse(substitute(argname)).

anova power calculations
I sent a message a couple days ago about doing calculations for power of the ANOVA. Several people got back to me very quickly which I really appreciated. I'm working now on a similar problem, but instead of a balanced ANOVA, I have an unbalanced one. The first part of the question was: You assume that the within-population standard deviations all equal 9. You set the Type 1 error rate at รก

WINE game compatability and "DOSe"?
After using a dual-boot system for a while (Win98 + Mandrake) on my home machine, I've decided to go for Linux only on my new (well, used) notebook (Latitude PII 266 w/ 128 MB RAM). In any case, I don't really use any Windows programs except a few games (well, I use office tools and programming environments, but there are plenty of good ones in Linux as is), so I'm looking into using

How do I use FLAC in my C++ program ?
Hello all, I am writing a "virtual cdplayer" application, that plays tracks from my cd backups, which are stored as a .flac file and a cdrwin style .cue file. Anyway enough of that, onto the problem.. I wish to use C++ for my program, but when I try to compile it with g++ I get the following types of errors: /home/dave/development/splitimg/splitimg.cpp:153: undefined reference to

Problem getting the most recent has_many associated object
I can''t get my view to display the most recent parameters from an associated object in a view... here is a birds-eye of my app: I have two models, Ferms and Kinetics. Ferm has_many :kinetics, Kinetic belongs_to :ferm. Kinetic has the fields ferm_id, brix and temp. In my ferms/index view I have a table listing the attributes of each ferm instance. I would like to display the most recent

Connecting to an Ericsson AXT121 with a Digium Wildcat E100 card
Dear Telcotype Braniacs, I have tried doing a google search to find out what this switch looks like, what the physical interface is, but havn't been successful. I am quite new to the ISDN world so I'm not sure what to expect when I see this switch. Does anyone have any experience connecting to this switch? The following is basically all I have been given for info: 1) Ericsson, AXT121,

Ext3 vs. Reiser?
Hi! I was just wondering how Ext3 and Reiserfs compare. When I reinstalled my server (because of a stupid hacker) I took the opportunity to change to ReiserFS. And I have to say it's really much faster than Ext3. I don't have benchmarks, but for example, stuff like "make dep" on the linux kernel is much faster (even though I had enabled write cache when I was using ext3). So

Old games
Hi all! I'm not yet subscribed to this list (I'm going away for a 3 week vacation in a few weeks and I don't want my account to be filled) so please cc! I've been trying to get some old games running with NO success... Here are the results when using Transgaming's WineX CVS from today. I've tried both winehq 20010629 and 20010729 also, with (almost) the same

Perl script to locate F0 0F C7 C8 bombs
There is no known fix to the F0 0F C7 C8 bug at this time. What can be done, however, is run a program, such as the script after my signature, to locate any and all such programs. This script can be used in single user mode after a mysterious lockup on a multiuser Pentium system. I hope it is possible to come up with a software fix for this problem. - Sam "You can...turn sadness into
