strange DOS-Error 58
Hi, based on Bart Lagerweij's ( www.nu2.nu ) bootdisk, I've created a small DOS system that users can start by booting from network ( PXE ). The system is configured to map a network drive from a Suse 9.0 Pro / Samba server with various tools on it. The connection is anonymous. Until recently everything worked fine but suddenly there are strange errors: When I try to launch an EXE from

non-standard boot floppys
I experimented with floppy sizes. Eg. I used FDFORMAT v1.8 to format a Disk fdformat a: t82 s21 D10 (I even have a modified version of FDFORMAT that creates only 1 FAT to save space, but I'm not using that.) All the information is written nicely to the Boot-Record http://home.freeuk.com/foxy2k/disk/disk3.htm But SYSLINUX seems to ignore the information. While DOS boots fine from these

Hi all, I love syslinux!! It works great. Problem. GHost 8.x and higher... With ghost 7.5 and earlier I was able to boot floppy images from my tftp server. But as you all know Ghost 8.x and higher had a bloated ghost.exe that does not fit on a single 1.44mb floopy image file. Boots from prompt but not from syslinux.cfg
Hi, I have a problem with syslinux.cfg. I can boot successfully by typing on the boot: prompt but not from an entry in syslinux.cfg. The command line is boot: vmlinuz initrd=dvzip1.img root=/dev/ram ramdisk_size=8192<enter> However if I enter the label of the kernel to boot, it fails to run /sbin/init and in its absence /sbin/sh. The kernel boots correctly but gets stuck after the

I am not certain that this is the right place to post this, but maybe some kind soul can point me in the right direction if not. And I apologize if this is the wrong spot...The reason I posted here is that I recall running across a syslinux changlog that said "..added support for reading .spl..." files. 24G running on centos 5 desktop.
Hi All, Thought I would let those that are interested know that I had success in running 24G on an Asus P6T with 24G kit of Kingston DDR3. While I was putting this together I saw lots of forum posts asking if anyone had tried it. Well we did here at our work and all looks great including running "memtest86" overnight. I have a fluid dynamics simulation running on it with 90% memory

PXE booting dos
Using memlinux I have been able to PXE boot an image I created from one of our DOS boot floppies. It works quite well. I am unable to figure out how to build a larger disk image however. It appears you can use a 2880k floppy without having to pass special options. My attempts so far have failed. Has anyone done this before? I would like to convert the working disk image I have (1.4 meg) to a
