SYSLINUX 2.01-pre1 released
This isn't strictly speaking a SYSLINUX release, it's a change to MEMDISK and mkdiskimage to allow the creation of hard disk images with DOSEMU headers. This should make it easier to create bootable DOS hard disk images under DOSEMU. ftp://ftp.kernel.org/pub/linux/utils/boot/syslinux/Testing/ -hpa

memdisk hdimage
Sorry to bother you, but i want to use your genious memdisk feture, but i am not able to create a hdimage that is compatible with memdisk (see ML postings). I am not a Linux newbie, i maintain a project at [1], so i cannot be too stupid in making the image. I really tried it for some weeks to create such an image, i am not able to get a working image. It would be nice if you can send me a step

Creating HD Boot Images
I have been trying to track down information on building HD boot images for ISOLINUX and MEMDISK, and so far, haven't had a whole lot of luck. I've found a number of sources describing the process of setting up ISOLINUX and MEMDISK, and how to configure the boot CD to boot various OS's. I've also read through Bart Lagerweij's BootCD/ModBoot pages, and Mikhail

Using memdisk to remotely flash BIOS
I am using memdisk to remotely flash the BIOS and other firmware. It works well for most flash programs. After the flash I need to initialize the NIC to send a signal to my management server that the flash is complete. I am curious as to how others have solved this problem. Thanks.

Using CD to boot memdisk images?
I have a 32MB HD image that I can pxelinux.0/memdisk boot without issue. I would like to both memdisk and my image on a CD and then boot from the CD with pxelinux.0. Is this possible? If so how? Thanks.

Memdisk and Grub
Hello, i was getting into problems when booting a GRUB bootdisk with memdisk. I get the menu of GRUB, but when i change something to boot (e.g. Redhat installation tool) System freezes after uncompressing kernel. I used either syslinux version of Boot Scriptor and latest standalone version from kernel.org. I hope you are able to give me a clue what is wrong. Thanks in advance. Christian

dosemu, not WINE, to run 16 bit DPMI
Some days ago, I asked for help running an old DOS program for a CA attorney. It seemed to have a problem with 16 bit DPMI. While we have had to (temporarily, I hope) compromise and use a licensed copy of DOS 6.22 to run it with dosemu, it runs perfectly on dosemu. Instead of usind a hdimage of freedos, which will not run the program, one creates a dir, /var/lib/dosemu/bootdir, and fills it

External HD partitioning & formatting considerations
Hi, One of my clients has a mixed Linux/Mac OS/Windows environment in his office. He just purchased a 4 TB external hard disk, which he intends to use on his various workstations. Up until recently, I've been using plain old MBR/FAT for hard disks in mixed environments. Fire up fdisk, make one big 0b type partition, and then format it using mkdosfs. Unfortunately, there's a 2 TB limit

Memdisk/floppy image question
Here is the script I put together now. I hope I haven't overlooked anything. You might need to modify the first section of variables to suit your setup. Ofcourse you need to run this as root. May be some version of this should be included with syslinux? Basically given an existing floppy image, it creates a larger image and copies its contents over and sets up the bootsector of the

Large Floppy Images
I am still unable to build and boot large floppy images. 1.44, 2.88, and any size HD images work great. No problem. However I have BIOSes with problems booting HD images and would like to get large floppy working. I have tried every script and method I could find with PC DOC 7 and MS DOS 6.22. I have spent too much time analyzing boot sectors. So a few questions: 1. Who has actually see it

Universal Packet Driver
I often boot DOS using MEMDISK and 33MB HD images for remote flashing. After my flash I need to activate the NIC and send a signal. Currently I use different packet drivers for different NICs, but this link below looks like a universal solution: http://www.emboot.com/products_UniversalPacketDriver.htm Does any thing else like this exist that is open source or freely available and freely
