Problems converting output from Sweave to PDf
I am having trouble converting the output from Sweave into a valid PDF file. I have created a simple .Rnw file which will become a full vignette at some point, but during the intermediate testing, I got errors from texi2dvi. This is what I have done. 0) Using a Windows Xp system 1) Created a file called GeneSpring.Rnw 2) Convert this to Tex using Sweave("GeneSpring.Rnw") from within R

Joining Dataframes
I am attempting to join several dataframes that summarize sampling effort for different samples into one large data.frame/table. I have looked at the merge command, but have not been clever enough to figure out how to get it to do what I want. A simplified example of what I am trying to do: The dataframes I have look like this (they were generated using the table command) species1.effort

rsync questions
Hi all: I got basic rsync working (not server mode). Basically it went to another server via ssh, backed up subdireactories and stored on the local server. But I am trying to use the feature of "exclude" and could not get it working rigjt. I am trying to back up /export/home/* (all of users) on another machine but exclude a certain types of files. here is one of my tested exclude

using google for vm transcripts
I'm pretty impressed by how well (comparatively) google voice does in doing voice mail transcripts. So I'd like to have google do my local voice mail, and then email the transcript. So I set up extensions.conf: exten =>s,n,Dial(${House_Phones},36) ; this should be six rings exten =>s,n,Dial(Gtalk/<my-user-name>/${<my-gv-number>{@voice.google.com) but I get this

Dead wood code
Is there a package, or does anyone have code they are willing to share, that would allow me to simulate sampling of dead wood pieces across an area? I am specifically looking for code to simulate the dead wood distribution as small line segments across an extent, and then I will "sample" the dead wood using different sampling techniques including line transects, fixed area plots, etc.

Error in GDCprepare step of TCGAbiolinks
Dear Sir/ma'am, I'm using R-3.4.4 and TCGAbiolinks package for the analysis of GDC data. Till today i have reintalled R and R studio for 5 times but one error comes when i analyze the GDC data at the step GDCprepare. the data i am using is not a legacy data of GDC data portal. I think the problem is with my Laptop only because i have run the same commands in another PC and there was no

temp fix: Simultaneous reads and writes from specific apps to IPoIB volume seem to conflict and kill performance.
The problem described in the subject appears NOT to be the case. It's not that simultaneous reads and writes dramatically decrease perf, but that the type of /writes/ being done by this app (bedtools) kills performance. If this was a self-writ app or an infrequently used one, I wouldn't bother writing this up, but bedtools is a fairly popular genomics app and since many installations use

Request for more flexibility in heatmap() width / height ratio
Hi R users, I'm a quite extensive user of the heatmap() function, and as many others i'm frequently frustrated by its fixed square width / height ratio. Here is a typical example : dev.new() heatmap(matrix(rnorm(1200), nrow=10)) I have a non square matrix to plot with heatmap, as there are many more columns than rows, row labels are larger than necessary but column labels

Dozens of SIP NOTIFY messages with unique call ID's, and the same mailbox repeated multiple times on 1.6.2.6
(sorry this is so long) I could really use a helping hand. I have a 1.6.2.6 installation using LDAP as the realtime engine for voicemail users, SIP users, queues, and some custom hotdesking families. I'm also using ODBC voicemail storage. The issue that I am having is that the UA's (Polycom 501's, 301's and 430's) are receiving multiple SIP NOTIFY messages when the user

system-config-display wrongly sets up Viewsonic VG730m monitor
I originally set up this monitor with an analogue lead. Everything seemed fine, so I didn't check xorg.conf at all. Then I bought a digital lead, and since then the monitor blinks. Running system-config-display identifies it as a 1280 x 1084 CRT monitor. It is an LCD monitor. That model is not on the drop-down list, so assuming that a specific driver wasn't available for it, I

Unexpected behaviour in reading genomic coordinate files of R-2.7.0
Great R people, I have noticed a strange behaviour in read.delim() and friends in the R 2.7.0 version. I will describe you the problem and also the solution I already found, just to be sure it is an expected behaviour and also to tell people, who may experience the same difficulty, a way to overcome it. And also to see if it is a proper behaviour or maybe a correction is needed. Here is the

Can I remove lib-elf.so.1?
I am cleaning up my 4-STABLE system. After a fresh installworld, I am looking at files that did not get touched by the install. Is it safe to remove all such files? In particular, I am looking at /usr/libexec/lib-elf.so.1, which has the schg flag set. I am afraid to remove this for fear of making my system unbootable. Could somebody please reassure me that it is ok to noschg and remove this old
