Using glusterfs with an export directory on an non-POSIX attr enabled FS
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Dear all, I am trying to setup a replicated volume to serve (in a load-balanced setup) static content. Since we are talking about small sized files (thumbnails) that do not take too much space, one ideea is to set that up in RAM (using /dev/shm mountpoint on CentOS). The main problem is that if I define a replicated volume using glusterfs, and I

Dear gluster experts, I search through glusterfs 3.3 source tree and can't find any fuse open option FOPEN_KEEP_CACHE related code. Does this mean that glusterfs 3.3 doen't support fuse keep cache feature? However I did find keep cache code in mainline. My question is: 1 does glusterfs 3.3 support page cache? 2 if not what is the best practice to improve performance if a file is

[CentOS 6] Upgrade to the glusterfs version in base or in glusterfs-epel
Hi, I'm using glusterfs version 3.4.0 from gluster-epel[1]. Recently, I find out that there's a glusterfs version in base repo (3.4.0.36rhs). So, is it recommend to use that version instead of gluster-epel version? If yes, is there a guide to make the switch with no downtime? When run yum update glusterfs, I got the following error[2]. I found a guide[3]: > If you have replicated or

GlusterFS over lessfs/opendedupe
Hi, I'm currently running GlusterFS over XFS, and it works quite well. I'm wondering if it's possible to add data deduplication into the mix by: glusterfs --> lessfs --> xfs or glusterfs --> opendedupe --> xfs Has anybody tried doing this? We're running VM images on gluster, and I figure we could get a bit of space saving bu deduplicating the data. Gerald

Kubernetes v1.7.3 and GlusterFS Plugin
Hi all, I am testing K8s 1.7.3 together with GlusterFS and have some issues is this correct? - Kubernetes v1.7.3 ships with a GlusterFS Plugin that depends on GlusterFS 3.11 - GlusterFS 3.11 is not recommended for production. So 3.10 should be used This actually means no K8s 1.7.x version, right? Or is there anything else I could do? best Christopher -------------- next part -------------- An

Why does glusterfs has nfs stuff on the server
When I installed gluster and do a "ps" on the process I see: /usr/sbin/glusterfs -f /etc/glusterd/nfs/nfs-server.vol -p /etc/glusterd/nfs/run/nfs.pid -l /var/log/glusterfs/nfs.log" My question is why did glusterfs use nfs-server.vol, nfs.pid and nfs.log instead of using some generic name. This is confusing and makes me think it's using nfs somehow on the server even though

GlusterFS 3.8 Debian 8 apt repository broken

GlusterFS 3.8 Debian 8 apt repository broken
What would the fix be exactly? The apt repos are built the same way they've been built for the last 3+ years and you're the first person to trip over whatever it is you're tripping over. And there have never been packages for i386 for Debian. ----- Original Message ----- > From: "mabi" <mabi at protonmail.ch> > To: "Gluster Users" <gluster-users
