Rsync hang on HP-UX 10.20
Hi,
We downloaded the latest rsync 2.5.6 source code and compiled it on HP-UX for both 10.20 and 11.x. Rsync runs fine if we run it from the command line on both platforms. But after we put rsync command into a HP Software Distributor package configure script (just a shell script with rsync command in it) and run swinstall, which will get installation bits including the configure script, put the

smbd's using up 100% of all cpu's and load avg slowly going up
Hi,
Yes, I already thought about it.
I have the sernet repo installed.. Is possible to yum update and jump
from 4.1.6 to 4.1.14 directly, without problems or should I follow some
kind of procedure to avoid future problems?
Regards,
Bruno Andrade.

Hi again,
Sorry, I forgot to include the fd used...

16 -> /var/lib/samba/private/sam.ldb.d/metadata.tdb
the others refers to /var/run/samba/winbindd/pipe

Guys,
We''re having a similar problem to that documented, but not resolved, here:
http://lists.xensource.com/archives/html/xen-users/2005-08/msg00110.html
The python process that runs "/usr/sbin/xend start" has reached 99.9% CPU

Creating a vm with a non-existent /dev/mapper/ tap2 device effectively hangs dom0 system
Have an interesting one here, originally found on xen 4.1.0 but just
upgraded to xen 4.1.1 and it''s still here.
Creating a VM with a tap2 device pointed at /dev/mapper/something, when
that device doesn''t exist, causes the tapdisk2 process to go into D mode
and also manages to take out any process that queries it.
For example, I have /dev/mapper/nathanxenuk1 as a valid disk

puppet ldap issue
Hi,
I have run into an issue using puppet in an ldap environment and I am
wondering if anyone else has run into the same issue.
A number of the puppet clients in my testing environment are failing to
apply new configurations because the puppet client is getting an ldap error.
Currently, I am attempting to push a new bash_profile to my home directory
and then set my username/group to then own the

Samba4 Kerberos kinit does not resolve kdc hostname
Hi,
i am really depressed at this moment. I set up an domain controller
using samba4 and an raspberry pi.
I can join the domain and everything works BUT kerberos has some strange
problems resolving my raspberry hostname.
First of all some information:
Raspberry pi is DHCP Server and DNS-Server (BIND9).
First of all the configurations:
Code:
/usr/local/samba/etc/smb.conf

Samba4 Kerberos kinit does not resolve kdc hostname
Hi,
/etc/resolv.conf looks exactly like this:
domain family.rapsberry.local
search family.rapsberry.local
nameserver 192.168.178.222
So to answer your question: yes the only Nameserver the raspberry has is
itself.
Greetings

FreeBSD - dovecot: We couldn't drop root group privileges
Hi,
I installed Dovecot on FreeBSD 4-STABLE machine
and have a problem.
MTA is postfix delivering to ~/Maildir, runs perfectly.
Dovecot is configured to use plaintext auth, config file
is at the end of this mail.
When trying to get mail via IMAP, I'm getting the following

Samba4 Kerberos kinit does not resolve kdc hostname
Hi,
thank you so! much. Turning off avahi daemon was the solution!
rapsberry instead of raspberry is a typo during porivision actually.
Thank you again :)
I will write an entry on my blog to make sure that does not happen again.
One last time for google bots.
IF you receive
kinit: Cannot contact any KDC for realm while getting initial credentials
make sure you don't run avahi

imap daemon consuming all the cpu
Hello,
I've tried to do a full text search on the inbox, it run fine, but the
imap daemon started to eat all the CPU until I closed the email client.
I'm running dovecot 1.0.rc7 [using kqueue] on FreeBSD 6.1.
ktrace shows this pattern over and over (its seems to be looping):
49021 imap CALL kevent(0x4,0,0,0x80df000,0x5,0xbfbfe988)
49021 imap RET kevent 1

v1.0.13: maildirfolder not being created
Hi,
I'm using version 1.0.13 of dovecot. I know it's somewhat dated, but
that's the latest that Debian etch offers, and I would like to avoid
compiling by myself if possible.
dovecot is not creating the 'maildirfolder' in folders that are
created via IMAP. Looking at the NEWS file, this was implemented in
v1.0.rc7, so my version should have that working already. Is

[PATCH nbdkit 0/3] filters: stats: More useful, more friendly
- Use more friendly output with GiB and MiB/s.
- Measure time per operation, providing finer grain stats
- Add missing stats for flush
I hope that these changes will help to understand and imporve virt-v2v

smbd high cpu load
We have a Linux file server for a set of computer science and
engineering
labs where each lab contains machines running Mac OS X, Ubuntu Linux,
or some incarnation of Windows. At times the these machines become
almost unusable and I think I have narrowed the problem to smbd
processes
soaking up all the CPU on the server. Running 'top' on the server
reveals a dozen or so entries like
