change color scheme in mvpart
Hello everyone, I am currently using the mvpart package and would like to change the color scheme it uses, and was hoping someone could help me out. All of the papers I have found have used a grayscale but I can't seem to figure out how they did that! Currently, mvpart plots barplots in a repeating sequence of 3 shades of blue. So if you have 6 response variables the same shade of blue is used

Samba 4.8.3 out of memory error
Our domain controllers have run samba 4.4.3 since it was released. We
didn't upgrade because it was so stable :)
I recently decided that release was too old and upgraded to 4.8.2
(then current). Our domain controllers were crashing on 4.8.2 so I
upgraded to 4.8.3 as soon as it was released but this has not resolved
the issue.
When the issue occurs the DC becomes unresponsive and needs to be

grid.edit problem
I am having a problem in editing a grob. It works ok if I try to
shift the grob using npc coordinates but if I do the same thing
using native coordinates the grob disappears. What is wrong?

pushViewport(viewport(xscale = c(100,200), name = "X"))
# draw vertical line

merging two lists but get indexes
Suppose I have two columns of entries, how can I get the union of the
two columns? Please note: I input my columns through excel. These
entries have text format in excel. Also, out of curiosity, how can I
find out the data type of a data frame ?

k-means with euclidian distance but no coordinates
Hi,
I'm trying to build a thesaurus that will sensible values for rare words.
I suspect the best algorithm to use is k-means although I'm not sure about
that -- I would have preferred a k dimensional space with a binary cluster
in each dimension so a word can belong to 0..k clusters, but I digress...
I can measure the strength of correlation between words fairly easily by

User's DPAPI/backupkey protected data lost when changing domain password
After a user changes their password (CTRL-ALT-DEL) in our Samba 4 domain
(4.1.12) they lose access to any stored passwords on their Windows PC.
I've set the log level in smb.conf to 4 and enabled the GPO to record DPAPI
log entries in Windows to get the below log data.
My reading of the two is that the Windows PC believes it is failing to reset
the access to its DPAPI store (where the saved

geoR, plot of variog4 lines incomplete
I'm using R for Mac OSX version 1.14 (2129) and the geoR package
version 1.6-5 (the current version in the R repository). I'm running
R in OS 10.4.6 on a Mac G4 iBook (933MHz, 640 MB DDR SDRAM). I
searched the R archive and did not find a posting on this issue.
I want to use the variog and variog4 functions of geoR to
characterize the pattern of spatial autocorrelation of tree

AIX lastlog change?
Somewhere between 2.9p1 and 2.9.9p2 there was a change to auth2.c that
removed the userauth_reply() function. There were a few lines of code
in that function, #ifdef'd with WITH_AIXAUTHENTICATE, that handled the
AIX method of lastlog type stuff (specifically, a loginsuccess() call).
There is a similar call in auth1.c, down in do_authentication(), which
is still there in 2.9.9p2.
So with

Is it possible to run unit tests after a package installation?
Dear all,
I'm deep into Chambers' SoDA and R-exts.html but I can't find all
answers. The thing is that I would like to run my unit tests right
after a package installation.
That is while the command "R CMD check <package_name>" runs all files
named <package_name>/tests/*.R (so unit tests can be placed there) I
wonder if it is possible to run them on some

question about Software for Data analysis book
Dear R People:
I'm sure that this is a very silly question, but I'm reading the
Software for Data analysis book by John Chambers, and I can't find the
"Declination" data that he refers to on page 15 in the book.
I did all of the usual stuff:
library(help=SoDA)
??Declination
looked for it online but to no avail.
Has anyone else run into this, please?
Any help would be

3.6.1p1/SNAP-20030910, AIX & /etc/nologin (similar to bug #178)
I'm seeing a problem under AIX (4.3.3, 5.1, 5.2) very similar to bug
#178. It occurs with both 3.6.1p1 and openssh-SNAP-20030910.
If /etc/nologin is present, a session requesting a pty will hang,
apparently when the sshd parent tries to close the pty slave. As in
bug #178, adding a brief sleep to the child sshd anytime after the fork
seems to clear up the problem (though I agree that this

Ring Two Extensions Simultaneously with different caller ID values?
Hi All,
We're using Asterisk 1.4, and Cisco phones exclusively (mostly the 7961G, but a few 7911Gs and one 7912G for the time being-all running the SIP firmware image, plus a few analog extensions until the next capital funding cycle).
Each user has a phone at his or her desk, but there are also a growing number of "common area" phones (hallway, kitchen, conference rooms, data
