trojan at current development version?
Hi, is it possible, that the current development version for Windows ( http://cran.at.r-project.org/bin/windows/base/R-2.13.0dev-win.exe) is infected by a trojan/virus. My antivir-program (www.avira.com) seems to find a trojan in open.exe at bin\i386. Best regards, Andreas [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

R 2.12 How many downloads
A general question- and excuse me if you find it irrelevant Are you tracking how many people finally download a specific R version by counting the number of downloads through log/ analytics software like GA etc? If so- can we see some numbers Ajay Websites- http://decisionstats.com http://dudeofdata.com Linkedin- www.linkedin.com/in/ajayohri

What antivirus program is the best for a computer?
I know that Norton might rock, but myself personally, I can't tolerate the way it uses all of my ram and slows my computer down. I use spy bot, but that isn't enough. Is there anyone out there who knows of an antivirus program that will not eat up my bank account or my computer's capacity to function at a normal rate? Thank you for your time......

Mounting Snapshots
Hello I am doing a research project (http://www.ites-project.org/) and want to be able to mount VM images (all kinds of VMs, starting with VirtualBox). For that libguestfs seems perfect. I am already able to mount the base HD, but I was not able to additionally mount the overlaying Snapshot files. Is there a way to mount several HD files onto each other ? Thanks Thorsten Sick -- Thorsten Sick

Memory Leak in R v1.6.1
Greetings, I am running R v 1.6.1 on a linux operating system with 2GB physical memory and dual processors. When using BATCH to run a simulation with a super large dataset I can only get through 1 1/2 repetitions before R uses all the memory and the simulation crashes. It starts with 10% of the memory - up to 50% by the end of the first repetition and then starts the second with approx 65% of the

Improving partial lookup results
Incidentally, if you're actually aiming to match different forms of a name (Peter vs Pete, Ann vs Anne vs Annette) then you might find the synonym feature a better option than wildcarding. You'd need to give it a list of names to treat as synonyms, but it should have many fewer false positives, and can also handle cases which aren't just a substring - e.g. Robert vs Rob vs Bob vs

Switch language
Hi there, I've installed R somewhen in German but I'd like to have it in English. The installation of a new version does not change the language setting though I think I've chosen "English" in the installation process (this choice was available, right?). Can anybody give me a hint? (Error-Messages in German are not easy to get a solution for...) Antje

Generating unique permutations of a vector
Hi all, I try to generate sets of strategies that contain probability distributions for a defined number of elements, e.g. imagine an animal that can produce 5 different types of offspring and I want to figure out which percentage of each type it should produce in order to maximize its fitness. In order to do so, I need to calculate the fitness for all potential strategies. As an example, if I
