Comparing the components of a data frame without levels interfering
*Bottom Line: How can I compare the individual components of two data frames with different row lengths without the levels interfering?* Example: I have two data frames to those respectively named 'dfCity' and 'dfState' that have the following output: dfCity Name City 1 Bill Detroit 2 Jody Chicago 3 Frank Memphis 4 Ron Houston

Ordering of stack in ggplot (package ggplot2)
I'm trying to reproduce the 3rd graph on the page of this site: http://learnr.wordpress.com/2009/03/17/ggplot2-barplots/ . However, the data below produces a ggplot with the stacks sorted in alphabetical order from the bottom up. I'd like the stacks to be in the order "Europe", "Asia", "Americas, "Africa", "Oceania". Is there an easy way to

Very Basic Source Question
I'm having an issue sourcing an R file from my workbench using StatET in the Eclipse IDE. All I'm trying to do is get comfortable with 'source' and run "source(C:/Program Files (x86)/Eclipse/eclipse/ProjectName/SourceFile.R)". When I try to call the path for the file i get the error: "unexpected '/' in "source(C:/". I've looked around but

touble with install
I did ./configure make make install I got no errors, but it doesn't seem to have installed everything I need. Swat won't start. It didn't put an smb.conf file in /etc/samba (it didn't even create this folder) or /usr/local/samba/lib/. When I run testparm, I get Segmentation fault as my only output. Even if I create an smb.conf and run testparm on that file I get the exact

Hi, I have the following function that i use to plot graphs. plot_mi_time = function(mdata, miname) { mdata2 = mdata[row.names(mir_test3) == miname, ] # print(mdata2) xcoords <- c(1,1,2,2,3,3) plot(xcoords, mdata2, xaxt="n", ylab="Expression", xlab="Time(h)", , main=miname) axis(1, at=xcoords,

where to send patches to R source code
Hi Peter, Martin, and others, Thanks for your replies. - The bugs apply to all systems that use GNU Readline, not just Linux or Arch Linux. - Readline version 6.3 changed the signal handling so that SIGWINCH is no longer handled automatically by the library. This means it's not currently possible for people using R on e.g. Linux to resize the terminal, or at least when they do so

I'm having trouble with the rsync wrapper's I've found online: rsync_wrapper[8458]: SSH_ORIGINAL_COMMAND environment variable apparently not set rsync: connection unexpectedly closed (0 bytes read so far) rsync error: error in rsync protocol data stream (code 12) at io.c(189) I'm not sure if this is a problem of incompatibility between my RHES3 and the wrappers I've found or

Trouble with install, still
I've tried building it on a server that I know has pretty much every library possible for a program to need, but I'm still not getting a good samba install. I'm on white-dwarf linux (kernel 2.4.25), gcc 3.3.2, Samba 3.0.2a White-dwarf is home-grown, very much like slackware. When I configure and make and make install, I don't get any errors, but I when I look for some files

Latest R-devel build failing on OS X
Readline <= 6.2 shouldn't require the SIGWINCH patch, so if older versions have trouble finding rl_resize_terminal then you could wrap a macro around that part. The isearch C-c bug has existed forever, according to Chet Ramey. Yes, I had to retrain myself to use C-g to exit isearch but it's confusing. It would be nice to fix this C-c bug on older versions too, but my solution used some

Latest R-devel build failing on OS X
Ah, got it. For some ancient reason config.site on that machine had LDFLAGS=-L/usr/X11R6/lib in config.site, and that prevented configure from inserting -L /usr/local/lib, so linked /usr/lib/libreadline.dylib, which is the Apple-supplied one, which possibly is really libedit... -p > On 18 May 2016, at 22:01 , peter dalgaard <pdalgd at gmail.com> wrote: > > gcc

ActiveRecord::StatementInvalid: Mysql::Error: Lock wait timeout exceeded
Hi all, Ive been getting this error on one particular query repeatedly for the past few days. ActiveRecord::StatementInvalid: Mysql::Error: Lock wait timeout exceeded; try restarting transaction: UPDATE `posts` SET `updated_at` = ''2010-03-17 05:35:00'', `view_count` = 54 WHERE `id` = 158 Googling around, I found that this is basically because the transaction times out after

Compiling oggenc in mingw32...no FLAC support?
After pinpointing a ld switch problem in the ogg/src/Makefile file, I managed to get libogg and libvorbis to compile using mingw32. FLAC compiled flawless so the configure script in vorbis-tools detected FLAC and included support for it in oggenc. And when oggenc was compiling, I noticed it included the FLAC libraries so everything went smoothly. But the oggenc.exe made only recognises wav

Extracting intercept and residual std dev from lme results
Greetings- I need to extract, programatically, the standard deviations of the intercept and residuals from an lme model. These are presented by print.lme as: ... (Intercept) Residual StdDev: 1.410635 0.7800512 ... (data taken from ?lme's examples section) I can get the residuals with x$sigma where x is the fitted lme object. I can't find the intercept, though. The closest

Samba 3.0.7, WinXP Pro SP2 printing issues with netbiosnames.
Hi We're currently experiencing some problems that wasn't a problem in 3.0.4. Since SP2 was installed printers get connected \\<ipaddress>\<printer-name> instead of \\<netbios-name>\<printer-name>. It's more common on SP2 machines but it happens on non-SP2 machines. Although these issues are not consistent. Which some windows applications seems to have a
