patch proposal: omindex library or daemon
Olly (looking at commit logs, I think this is your dept :-) For apps which re/index files frequently and need format conversion, I'd like to propose a patch for one of... Omindex library (thread safe): Omindex::init(options) // struct Omindex::options { ... } initialize mime_map, store default options session = new Omindex::Session(db_pathname) user threads use different sessions

Node.js binding -- feedback wanted
Would love to get some eyes on this code. It needs to surface more functionality for basic use, I suspect, but I'm not sure precisely what... https://github.com/networkimprov/node-xapian

Rewriting opt-viewer in C++
If the decision on whether this should swing Python or C++ is still open, here’s some food for thought: it’s trivially parallelizable. I lobbed some stuff in https://reviews.llvm.org/D26789 I used the pure python PyYAML and got a speedup of ~4x on my test case. I expect you might still be able to get an improvement with libYAML + a patch like this one. FWIW prior to this I also tried PyPy

openoffice port build on FreeBSD 4.9
I am very new to FreeBSD and Unix in general. I may have more problems than I think, but here goes. I am trying to make depend && install WITH_BSD_JDK=TRUE clean with openoffice. Everything works fine until I get to the jvm section (seen below). I have tried looking for this on the net, but I have not been to successful in finding a solution. Thanks for your help. Stephen

flac-1.1.1 completely broken on linux/ppc and on macosx if built with the standard toolchain (not xcode)
Sadly the latest optimization broke completely everything. The asm code isn't gas compliant. the libFLAC linker script has a typo, disabling the asm optimization and/or altivec won't let a correct build anyway. Instant fixes for the asm stuff: sed -i -e"s:;:\#:" on the lpc_asm.s to load address instead of addis+ori you could use lis and la and PLEASE use the @l(register)

Rails AJAX slow compared to Node.js and websockets complex to implement in rails ?
I have heard alot about Node.js and watched a few tutorials and read some stuff. I get the impression that in certain situations AJAX calls with node.js is alot faster than with rails. I also have somewhat of an impression that with Rails web sockets are complicated to implement but with node.js web sockets might be alot easier. I am trying to figure out if I should learn some node.js or

BenHosmer's node.js proposal; was: Wiki Contribution Request
I just subscribed to the list yesterday, but haven't received any digest notifications yet. I am replying here because I saw the updates on the web archive. My idea is a more gentler overview of building RPMs that just happened to use nodejs as an example. I found a lot of the RPM building documentation to be a little hard to digest and scattered around a bit. I did use the fedora guide and

Asterisk AMI - PHP or Node.js?
I would like to develop a Call Center Dialer (outbound and inbound calls) and it would use AMI method to communicate with Asterisk Server. A daemon would need to run in the background, would you recommend coding in PHP or Node.js? which would be much faster and stable. command [argument ...] in ssh(1): a footgun
Hi, ssh(1) currently affords an argument-passing functionality, but as the manpage states, all arguments are simply concatenated by space. This behavior is non-obvious for those reading only the synopsis: one would expect something that takes argv input to somehow preserve the argument boundary and not, say, let a semicolon ruin all the fun. This is probably old news for all of you. I have

Subscribe to events via ARI from node.js without sending to Stasis
Hi, I'm writing a node.js backend to pass events via a websocket to a CRM. Basically what I want to do is notice when things happen (i.e. new channel, new bridge etc) without sending the channels to the Stasis app. The channels I'm interested in are agents who are in a queue only because they are in a realtime MySQL database for the queue_member_table. There doesn't appear to be a
