Problems with bridged networking
Hi, I''m using Xen 3.0.3 on two servers with Debian Etch (amd64). These servers have 10 nics (2 onboard and 8 in two 4-port cards) so that every vm can have its own interface. This worked so far with the Xen Version from Etch with a wrapper script wich started 10 bridges at boot time. But now I''ve updated Xen on one of these server to Xen 3.2.0 from backports.org and now the

When the network script tries to bring it up, it gets an error: RTNETLINK answers: File exists Any tips? details below brian root@trout:/etc/xen# egrep -v ''#|^ *$'' xend-config.sxp (network-script network-bridge) (vif-script vif-bridge)

Hi all, Does anyone know what the correct steps are to add a XEN bridge, let''s say xenbr0 to Debian Squeeze? I have added the following to /etc/network/interfaces # XEN Bridge auto xenbr0 iface xenbr0 inet manual bridge ports eth0 bridge_stp off bridge_fd 0 And then rebooted the server but brctl show still shows eth0 as bridge: newusaxen:~# brctl

Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron bridged networking xen connectivity loss
Last problem I had involved changing one character in my configuration scripts. Really easy once someone showed me what was wrong. Well I think this issue is just the same. The moment I used apt to install the Xen kernal and tools I lost internet connectivity. I have been managing because I can restore connectivity be deleting the bridge mpower@dodtsair:~$ sudo ifdown eth0

xen 3.2 network problems
Hi, I try to get networking running with xen 3.2, but it seems I fail miserably. I am on sles10sp1, with xen 3.2.0, and kernel rpm''s installed from SP2. I configured in /etc/sysconfig/network the NETWORK_LIST: NETWORK_LIST="bridge,0,default,00:DE:AD:BE:EF,192.168.8.13/24,dhcp-off" but an ifconfig xenbr0 still shows the mac address of peth0 fe:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff. Initially, I

One resource immediately after another
I need to apply three resources one immediatelly after another. It''s a ifdown/ifup commands, and command to generate /etc/network/interfaces file. I need to do ifdown, then rebuild interfaces, then ifup. I try to add simple relationship, but in this case some File resources are trying to be applied between ifdown and ifup. So they can''t connect to Puppet master to verify

How to fasten btrfs?
Hi, I am using 2.6.36.3 kernel with btrfs, 512MB memory and a very slow disk, no special options for mounting btrfs except noatime. Now I found it very slow. When I rm a 5GB movie, it took 20 secs. -- 竹密岂妨流水过 山高哪阻野云飞 -- To unsubscribe from this list: send the line "unsubscribe linux-btrfs" in the body of a message to majordomo@vger.kernel.org More majordomo info at

Centos 6 - Networking: Some Queries
Hello all I am setting up a Centos 6 machine with one network card & one onboard network port. Both are recognized & work. Onboard Network port is unused yet, but is required for dedicated access to LTSP LAN, which would allow older PIII machines to boot from this system. I have installed LTSP but again Networking seems to be the problem area, as the clients won't boot from this

restarting static-routes-ipv6
I want to change the contents of my /etc/sysconfig/static-routes-ipv6 and NOT restart the network. Is there a way to do this??? I know about ifup and ifdown for interfaces, but what about routing (and IP6 at that).

can''t add vlans successfully
Hi, I want to add 2 vlans by the following steps: 1. add the vlan interfaces: vconfig add eth0 100 --vlan100 vconfig add eth0 101 --vlan101 2. modify the network-bridge script by the websit, http://wiki.xensource.com/xenwiki/XenNetworking#head-04ebcc1760dbc4678e83b116afa310dc0612dc39 Comment each time ifup or ifdown commands are executed. The reason is that ifdown ends with

bridge with IP address, "received packet with own address as source address"
Hi, I''ve set up identical (what I think) machines using SLES 10 x86_64, but a new one of those is saying frequently in /var/log/messages: kernel: bond0: received packet with own address as source address A short summary of ifconfig looks like this: bond0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:14:4F:2A:12:9C inet addr:132.199.176.78 Bcast:132.199.255.255 Mask:255.255.0.0 eth0

Applying changes to route-eth0
I have a series of static routes in route-eth0 Recently I had to made changes and could not find an effective way to get the old routes out and the new routes in. ifdown-route seems to apply the content of route-eth0 to take down the routes listed and ifup-route brings up routes based on route- So what ends up is that the old routes never go away, just new routes added. ifdown eth0; ifup

答复: How to disable CTDB pulling up NICs
If eth0 holds virtual IP as its secondary IP and I bring down eth0 by command "ifdown eth0", CTDB will automatically pull eth0 up. Sometime it goes wrong. The virtual IP becomes primary IP, and origin primary IP turns into a secondary IP or just missing. If the origin primary IP is missing, I have to run "ifup eth0" though CTDB has pulled eth0 up. CTDB uses “ip link set eth0

Dashboard parameters to control VIPs?
Some of the Red Hat Enterprise Linux servers in our environment sometimes get assigned virtual IP addresses (eth0:1, eth0:2, etc). Puppet Dashboard''s parameters seem like an ideal way to define and provision virtual IPs on these servers. One could create a "vip1" parameter on a node, and define a value of the IP address to use for that vip. A manifest could then be written to

CentOS 7, systemd, NetworkMangler, oh, my
My manager tells me a system in the datacenter is down. I go down there, and plug in a monitor-on-a-stick and keyboard. It's up, but no network. I try systemctl restart NetworkManager several times, and ip a shows *no* change. Finally, I do an ifdown, followed by an ifup, and everything's wonderful. My manager thinks that the NM daemon thinks everything's fine, and there've been

Xen Networking and bonded interfaces on Debia Lenny
Greetings all. This has been an ongoing issue for me for a few months, and I''ve been trying to get an answer. My server has two NICs, and I want to set up the following: NICs (x2) -> bond (mode 5) -> Xen Bridge -> Doms ...however, trying to configure this doesn''t seem to work: network-bridge steals eth0 instead of bond0, which breaks the bond AND my networking. And I do not know how to

xen on openSUSE
Dear developers! I''ve found that recent xen releases cannot be simly run on openSUSE! The script /etc/xen/scripts/xen-network-common.sh makes some incorrect assumptions on the SuSE ifup script. Bridged xen networking only works if the script executes this branch: preiftransfer() { true } ifup() { false } ifdown() { false } Otherwise the xen networking scripts fail to put the
