Does anyone use pmacct?
Hi all,
I've been advised to use pmacct on a CentOS server, in order to keep track
of network traffic used by the XEN domU's / VPS' / VM's on the server. I
don't see a .rpm on their website so I don't know if it's safe to install
the tarball. I also don't see an rpm in the dag wiers repository.
Has anyone installed it on CentOS before? And if so, did you run into

I used iptraf on my linux box, but it only measures the bandwidth on interface basis only....
I tried installing traffic-vis, its not working

Strange httpd problem
Hi,
I'm currently setting up an IP accouting machine using CentOS 6 and pmacct,
compiled from source. The machine has two network interfaces :
- a "normal" one, used for SSH remote administration and viewing the
accouting data through a webserver (eth0)
- a "monitor" one, plugged into a mirroring port of our switch and with
no IP address defined (eth1)
The accouting

monitoring hosts from my lan
Hi,
there is a way to graph host''s traffic from my lan ?
I''ve a linux router (2.4.x kernel), and a lan:
linux router : 192.168.1.254
host 1: 192.168.1.1
host 2: 192.168.1.2
host 3: 192.168.1.3
I''m looking for a way to graph traffic ( in / out )
from each 3 hosts, and store total traffic on a
mysql table, in order to make statistics later.
I think I can do with Mrtg,

Darkstat
Hi all,
please, tell me about security of Darkstat. Is it good idea to install it on
firewall/gateway ?
I'd like to measure our company traffic, but I do not have Apache running on
the gateway. How could I redirect Darkstat's output to web-server inside
company ?
Or is there some other tool, which can measure in/out traffic and send
output to another machine ? I know MRTG, but it uses

Bandwidth measurement tool: bmtools
This is not specifically on-topic for Asterisk, but I have found on
many occasions while working with Asterisk that it would have been
very handy to be able to measure, with some precision, the bandwidth
being used by a particular host, port, or combination of the two.
So, I went searching for various tools, none of which were what I
wanted. They either were too clever, or too limited in

[Help] IMQ download traffic is duplicated !?
Hi,
I have a default class for my un-marked traffic (prio 5) and a prio 0 class for the important stuff,
but I do not understand why my download traffic is duplicated in both.
It work fine for my upload traffic (same setting except the red class but I have the same
result if I create an esfq instead).
Any comments/information will be appreciated.

Issue with macvtap bridge and forwarding
I have three hosts running Ubuntu 12.04 (libvirt 0.9.8). The
configuration is one host running on bare metal while the other two
are KVM guests.
The first guest is my network router. It has a direct connection to a
physical nic going out to the internet, and a bridged connection to a
nic for the lan. The host has ip forwarding enabled and forwards my
lan traffic back and forth to the internet.

LVM
How many people use LVM's in their production servers? Are they reliable
for use in these sorts of systems? I am asking this because i was
reading the LVM Howto about upgrading discs etc.

Switch to measure traffic at IP level?
Hello all:
Is there a network switch that will give me traffic
stats at an IP address level?
Right now, I only get statstics at a port level, but
that does not help since each of my servers run several
virtual machines and I need to measure traffic
per virtual machine.
Thanks,
Neil

sphericity calculation (more formulas?)
I believe that the following function is a good function for eyeballing
sphericity. But, I can't find functions for tests anywhere (g-g or
h-f). Anyone who wants to can feel free to use it.
It is bad that R does not provide any tests for sphericity AND cannot
do a MANOVA on repeated measures (although lme is an alternative add on
package). One of these solutions must be provided in the

Newnotsyn Behavior
Hello,
I''ve been doing some tests on a firewall system running Shorewall 1.4, and
have been getting some unexpected behavior when enabling the "newnotsyn"

What makes live migration so slow?
Hello,
I have now shfited to Centos 5.5, and I am testing live migration between 2
physical hosts with XEN 3.1.2. XEN 3.1.2 (virtualization) is included in
centOS 5.5 during the installation phase, so everything is handled by
default. A third host with Ubuntu OS serves as the network file system. The
three hosts are connected by one D-link gigabit switch (DGS-2205).
