Where is clustat
I thought I've installed the clustering tools, but when I attempt to run clustat, it says it doesn't exist. When I installed the suite, I ran: yum install -y GFS GFS-kernel-smp magma-plugins fence dlm dlm-kernel-smp gulm cman cman-kernel-smp CCSD is running and when I "cat /proc/cluster/nodes", I see my three nodes. Does anyone see the package that I missed for

Centos 5 where is rndc.conf and named.conf?
In /var/named/chroot/etc there is no rndc.conf or named.conf. Where are they? Webmin built a named.conf, but it is missing many of the 'default' entries. And it did not set up the symbolic link to /etc I am trying to follow instructions at: http://www.wains.be/index.php/2007/02/04/centos-chroot-dns-with-bind/

ntop from rpmforge
I don't know why I haven't signed up for this list before since we use CentOS all over the place. The list is very useful and it is good for me to participate and "give back" to the community. Anywho, I wanted to post this response to a thread that was created back in November 2008 about the ntop daemon failing to start. I'm currently setting up ntop as a NetFlow &

Removing old kernels
I have the following kernels on my /boot: 2.6.18-128.1.6 2.6.18-92.1.18 2.6.18-92.1.22 I'm low on /boot space and need to remove the oldest version. It appears that I cannot use yum to remove since all of the versions are the same (only the release is different). I believe that I can use rpm to remove the old version, but I also need to remove them from the grub.conf. Any other

Fink package for xapian-bindings (Python)
hello folks! on this page (http://xapian.org/download) you have links to the Fink packages for xapian-core and omega; you may be interested to know that i've packaged the Xapian Python bindings. i'm working on similar packages for the Ruby and PHP bindings, and i'd be happy to inform you once they've been pushed out to the mirrors. -steve -- If this were played upon a

named server
I started the named server on CentOS and it seems to resolve DNS request OK, but it does not seem to retain the info for very long. From what I can tell using "dig", a domain's ip address is retained for less than 12 hours. So in the morning, it takes 4+ seconds to resolve again the first time. Is there an adjustment somewhere for this or is the caching named support not enabled by

xen vs. vmware server
Can anyone offer informed comments on the relative merits of choosing xen over vmware server, or vice versa? The target OS would all be CentOS4.2 or later as they become available. The host hardware would all be 2.8GHz i86-P4 with 250 GB IDE drives and 2 GB RAM. Regards, Jim -- *** e-mail is not a secure channel *** mailto:byrnejb.<token>@harte-lyne.ca James B. Byrne

yum groupinstall "MySQL Database"
Hi all, I have a question related to yum groupinstall. I just tried a: yum groupinstall "MySQL Database" I expected that I would end up with a MySQL Database server, but it installed a bunch of .rpms *except* mysql-server. No big deal, I'm just curious if it was intended this way or not, that's all. Thank you and, Have a nice evening everyone, Alex

What are you doing right?
I'm a sysadmin by trade, so in my daily work I get to try out all kinds of new technology including operating systems. Over the last year I've noticed that many other distros won't run on some of my hardware (e.g. a Thinkpad T61, Dell E510, GX620) at work and home. But CentOS does. Without fail. Every time (well, there's that old Dell Inspiron 1200 that sits in the kitchen... but
