superpose.polygon, panel.polygon and their colors
Dear R-helpers,
the problem I'm facing today is to convince lattice to paint some areas
in gray.
The areas I would like to have in gray, are confidence bands
I've googled around in the mailing list archives and eventually find
some clues.

create a new data frame after comparing two columns of the previous data frame
Hi everyone,
I am trying to find a way to filter a table; If I am given for example the
following table:

region region_start region_end gene_id transcrip_id

superpose two variables in lattice/xyplot
Dear R users,
I try to use xyplot() to display two different response variables from
the same dataframe per panel, but don't succeed:
xyplot(ptot.seaslog ~ vmcwit | seas, data=reeks, as.table=TRUE,
panel = function(x,y){
panel.xyplot(x, y, ylim=c(0,1))
panel.superpose(x=reeks$vmcwit, y=reeks$ptotbin,
panel.groups = "panel.xyplot",

A question about Heatmap for data with just 2 columns
Hi, I have a question about heatmap. I have a data with row as microRNA and
two columns are two cell expression values for these microRNA. So, like:
cell1 cell2
miRNA1 1.5 3.4
miRNA2 1.3 2.4
...................
miRNA50 5 2.1
miRNA51 7.3 0.5
I want to see some miRNA are high in cell1 and low in cell2 but others are
low in cell1 and high in cell2. I

trellis plot
Hi,
I'd like to plot 4 groups of data using xyplot and panel.superpose so
that the points are overlayed on a single plot. For each group of data
I'd also like a loess smoothed function (using panel.loess). I have
tried the following:
xyplot(series ~ time | gr, data=etable,
panel = function(x,y, ...) {
panel.superpose(x,y, ...)
panel.loess(x,y,span=.15)

xyplot() question
Dear R Users,
I have an xyplot() where different plotting symbols are used for
subgroups (originally used within S-Plus, but hopefully it?s also
applicable to R users).
How can I fit separate regression lines for every subgroup? So far, I
can only plot the overall fitted line.
The code looks like this:
trellis.device()
sps<-trellis.par.get("superpose.symbol")
sps$pch<-1:7

define colors for groups in lattice xyplot
Dear all,
Lattice provides automatic coloring for subgroups on each panel by the
simple use of a groups statement. For an application I want to change
these colors to a predifined set. This works well using a panel function
in stead of the default as long as there are only points in the graphs.
When I set type="b" things get messed up. Any idea why? I include sample

Lattice: panel.superpose function does not pass subscripts and groups arguments (PR#2377)
Full_Name: Volker Franz
Version: 1.5.1
OS: Debian-Linux
Submission from: (NULL) (134.176.77.64)
Hi,
working with the panel.superpose function, I found out that this
function does not pass the subscripts and groups arguments to
panel.groups functions.
In my view, this seems an unnecessary restriction, because the
subscripts-mechanism which allows to access the original data should
also work if

Connecting lines across missing data points, xyplot
All,
I have data across 5 time points that I am graphing via xyplot, along with
error bars. For one of the variables I have missing data for two of the
time points. The code below is okay but I can't seem to get the lines to
connect across the missing time points. Does anyone now how to rectify
this?
Cheers,

Using Lattice, LatticeExtra - Hide right and top axes in multipanel plots
Dear Rxperts,
How do I hide the top and right axes in multiple panel plots? A couple of
examples are provided below.. Would highly appreciate appreciate your
assistance..

Lattice question: plotting two sets of data, defining groups for the second set
R friends,
I'm running R 2.7.2 on Windows XP SP2.
I have some data that's amenable to smoothing, and some that's not. I'm
trying to plot smoothed lines for the former along with just points for the
latter in a single panel. The problem comes when trying to break out the
points by group. My sample code follows.

Key titles in Lattice
Hi,
I'm creating some lattice plots that have a key and I'd like to put a
label on the key. The problem is that the text label for the key
prevents the values of the group variables from being shown (see example
below). I don't think that this is a feature, but I might be abusing the
title arg for key.
I'm using R Version 2.3.0 (2006-04-24) on Windows XP and lattice V0.13-8

auto.key in xyplot in conjunction with panel.text
All,
I can't seem to get auto.key to work properly in an xyplot that is employing
panel.text. Specifically, I often change the default grouping colors then
use auto.key accordingly, but for some reason the same functionality isn't
working for this different type of plot. Any help much appreciated.
Cheers,
David

lattice, different plotting symbols
Hi,
I am trying to plot different variables from a data.frame using lattice's

for the variable 'prob' and different one's for 'll.prob'?
Thanks, Matt

Superposing data on boxplot
Hi folks,
I have a vaiable Y and an associated factor Z at several (13)
levels.
boxplot(Y~Z)
produces a nice array of boxplots, one for each level of Z,
and each duly labaelled with its level of Z.
I would like to superpose on each boxplot the actual data
points which it represents, i.e. do something conceptually
(though not in real R) expressed as
points(Y~Z)
or
points(Z,Y)
It can

re: help with lattice plot
Dear List,
I have been using R to create an xyplot using the panel function within
lattice libraries. This plot is based on the data supplied in R named
'Oats'. The graph represents oat yield by nitro level with an overlay of
each variety of oats for each nitro level.
I have three questions regarding this graph:
1) I cannot seem to specify the type of symbol used by the plot, even

xyplot - label one line
Hi All,
I have a panel xyplot with 2 lines in each panel. I'd like to label one line
only but don't know how to do this. The code below labels both lines. Any
ideas how I could change it to show the y-values of only one of the lines?
Many thanks!

User defined panel functions in lattice
Hi
I have a problem with passing line and symbol parameters to user
defined panel functions
I had a look at the archives and created a panel function on what was
shown and on panel.loess.
I could not to get panel.locfit to work for what I intend it for.
There is another layer to work with before success as lp() is called
from locfit.

biotoxicology experiment. Each of 12 subjects had their blood
drawn at 0, 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10 weeks. For the purposes of the

I want to customise the segments on an xyplot. Below is a simple example
