How to put different color in some portion of a surface plot?
Hi all, I have following problem : a = b = seq(1, 50000, by=500) v = matrix(0, nrow=length(a), ncol=length(a)) for (i in 1:length(a)) { for (j in 1:length(a)) { d = c(17989*a[i], -18109*b[j]) v[i,j] = t(d) %*% matrix(c(0.0001741, 0.0001280, 0.0001280, 0.0002570), nrow=2) %*% d } } library("rgl") open3d()

Correct scaling of axis in persp3d plot
Hi, I want to format my axis in my persp3d plot. With my data, which I attached I created a persp3d plot with the following code, which I summarized from different code snippets I found: library(rugarch)library(rgl)library(fGarch)fd <-as.data.frame(modelfit,which ='density')color <-rgb(85,141,85,maxColorValue=255)x <-seq(-0.2,0.2,length=100)y <-c(1:2318)f

movie3d in rgl object 'movie' not found
Hello, I am trying to save a .gif movie using movie3d from the package {rgl}. I am using the following code combined with the globe example on the ?movie3d page. I've installed ImageMagick and the directory seems to be working properly, i.e. when I do Sys.getenv("PATH"), C:\\Program Files (x86)\\ImageMagick-6.7.0-Q16 shows up. #### library(rgl) open3d() lat <-

RGL 3D curvilinear shapes
Dear useRs, I'm trying to simply fill in the area under a curve using RGL. Here' the set up: x <- c(0.75,75.75,150.75,225.75,300.75,375.75,450.75,525.75,600.75,675.75, 0.5,50.5,100.5,150.5,200.5,250.5,300.5,350.5,400.5,450.5, 0.25,25.25,50.25,75.25,100.25,125.25,150.25,175.25,200.25,225.25) y <- c(0.05,4.91,9.78,14.64,19.51,24.38,29.24,34.11,38.97,43.84,

rgl: axis/viewport/box problems in persp3d()
Dear expeRts, I am a new user of rgl, below is my first trial to plot a simple function in 3d. I managed to put the axes in the right locations, but: (1) The xlab, ylab, and zlab arguments are ignored; how can I put in axes labels? (2) Since I removed the axes in persp3d() the viewport is too small; is it possible to keep the size of the viewport? (3) The box is not correctly drawn, there

overlaying points and lines on a surface3d rgl plot with axes
Hi R users and experts, I am interested in learning more about the use of 3D plots. Specifically, I want to add points and lines to a surface plot. And get the axes and labels plotted also. Here is what I have tried with an example data set : library(rgl) vol2 <- 2*volcano # Exaggerate the relief library(reshape) mvol2 <- melt(vol2) str(mvol2) # First, persp and persp3d plots do not succeed

rgl.postscript
Hi, I am having an issue when creating a postscript file from RGL window. It seems to cut off some of the axis labels. Here is the code I am using. I created a 3D plot using RGL_0.71 with R 2.5 on Windows XP. z1<-c(5,4,1,4.5,2,3,2,1,1) z2<-c(6,8,7,7.5,5,3.5,4,1,1) z3<-c(3,2,4,7,3,4.5,6,2,3) x1<-seq(1,9) x2<-seq(1,9) x3<-seq(10,18) y1<-seq(8,0) y2<--1*y1

3d plot of earth with cut
Good to hear you've made such progress. Just a couple of comments: - You should use points3d() rather than rgl.points(). The latter is a low level function that may have unpleasant side effects, especially mixing it with other *3d() functions like persp3d(). - There are several ways to draw a flat surface to illustrate your data. Which one to use really depends on the form of data.

3d plot of earth with cut
Dear All, Thanks a lot for the useful help again. I manage to get it done up to a point where I think I just need to apply some smoothing/interpolation to get denser points, to make it nice. Basically, I started from Duncen's script to visualize and make the clipping along a plane at a slice. Then I map my data points' values to a color palette and just plot them as points on this plane.

Draw level lines on the surface of a bivariate function
Hello, Is it possible to draw level lines on the surface of a bivariate function? In the following example, to draw surface and levels lines for a multivariate normal law, I use persp, trans3d, contourLines and lines, but if the lines are correctly drawn, some parts of them are, of course, visible even if they are drawn on a non visible "face". Any suggestion to avoid this problem

3D package in R
Hi all, I am considering writing a 3D visualisation package for R. Purposes: - Visualise 3 dimension data - Manipulate the data or series or any other object with the mouse as in any 3D software (3D Studio Max, Lightwave...) - Eventually display more than just 3D objects. Justification: - It's always interesting to plot data before performing any analysis - Manipulating (rotating,

rgl: How to position a window during open3d call
Dear all, The documentation on the function open3d in the rgl package, reads: open3d opens a new rgl device, and sets the parameters as requested. I want the new rgl device (window) to be sized and positioned in a specific place on my screen. So, I try to set the "windowRect" parameter as follows: > library("rgl") > open3d(windowRect=c(100,100,500,500))

question on rgl.surface
I'd like to use rgl.surface (or some other function if more appropriate) to create a horizontal and vertical transparent grey slice (plane) running through both the x and y origins and extending across the z axis, i.e. the 3-d equivalent of the normal 2-d coordinate axes we are all familiar with. The examples for rgl.surface are a bit more complex than what I need and I am having trouble

3D plot RGL
Hi, anyone has experience with 3D plot (ex: in package RGL) I have a question, I draw a 3D plot of country, year and sales in z axis but when the type is "h" then it's ok but when I want to link the points and type is 'l' lines it's a mess Is there a way to link the points only in one direction? For example a unique line from each country through each year? The code

rgl how to plot a cylinder like arrow3d?
Dear List, I'm trying to draw vector in XYZ with rgl under use of a cylinder3d. Therefore I scale and rotate a basis-cylinder). However, somehow the rotation is wrong as verified by overplotting arrow3d(). Where is my mistake? library(heplots) library(rgl) # ... 2 vectors data=data.frame(row.names=c('X','Y','Z'), x1=c(2,1,5),y=c(4,3,2))

Rgl and plotmath symbols (via sprites): a trial
Dear all, Below is some code where I try to get plotmath symbols in an rgl plot. Duncan Murdoch kindly suggested to use a "sprite" for this. As you can see, on can get it to work, but my knowledge about grid and rgl is too limited to perfectly solve the problem. 1) As you can see (please rotate the plot a little bit so that (0,0,0) is "in front"), the quality of the .png

3D-surface colour based on the values of X or Y data points
Dear R-experts, Using persp3d(), I plotted a 3d surface. I would like to colour this surface based on the result values (dependent variable) grouped in, say, three to five different ranges. Later, I would also like to paint the same surface based on the range-values of one of the independent variables. Please help. Thank you. Regards, Suresh -- View this message in context:
