Clients can't retrieve new emails
In a formerly working environment suddenly clients aren't notified of new emails and can't retrieve new emails. Server is Ubuntu 11.04 dovecot 1.2.15. Clients which fail are a Pre2 webOS 2.1 and TouchPad webOS 3.0 (those are OS versions, I don't know which particular flavor/version the IMAP clients are); there is also a Thunderbird 3.1.11 client on the same system as the server which

Mails don't get deleted after POP3
Hi, there! Well, I am new to dovecot, so please be patient with me: I have a virtual server and want to setup simple mail delivery. postfix, saslauthd and dovecot basically work fine. The only open issue is, that (I guess) dovecot doesn't remove the mail when it's retrieved via pop3 from the server. It keeps sending me the same emails again and again. (The mail client (Thunderbird) is

How to turn off "plus" delivery
I use a lot of plus-style addresses (me+stuff at example.com), except I use underscore as the separator rather than plus (me_stuff at example.com). My mail logs are full of messages where dovecot looks for a mailbox named "stuff", fails, then delivers to my inbox. Is there a way to turn that off so that dovecot automatically delivers to my inbox? Thanks! Here are the details: >

libvirt with sasl shadow backend
Hi list, i have a problem with virt-manager authentication over tcp. I tried it with virt-manager over non-TLS "TCP (SASL/Kerberos)" auth. and the sasl mechanism "shadow". The user (tested with unprivileged user and root) is allready in the group libvirt(d) and the process is running as root. The result on host: Jan 18 21:05:31 host libvirtd: 21:05:31.620: error :

Ubuntu package for dovecot 2.0.x from debian package
Hi, I am running a server under Ubuntu 11.04(natty) and I would like to install a 2.x version but unfortunately the only package available is 1.2.15. Of course I could compile and install from sources but I would prefer to handle packages because it's a lot simpler and cleaner. After some research I found some debian packages available here :

Postfix + saslauthd SASL With Kerberos (FreeIPA) unable to send mail
The dovecot instance set up with auth_realms and auth_default_realm variables and it is working well. In saslauthd configurations setting same variables giving configuration parsing error (I think it is not right way to configure kerberos realm in saslauthd). However testsaslauthd working without any problems even if I don't specify realm parameter from command line. On 03/10/17 06:17,

Routing cache and the missing redirect flag
Hello, Should "route -C" show the RTCF_REDIRECTED flag ? (0x00040000). I had searched in the code and it seems that it should show this flag by "r". However, I could not show this flag by "route -c " even that it should have been there. I have the following scenario where I have this flag set. I see it in cat /proc/net/rt_cache but **not** in route -C. (BTW,

Postfix + saslauthd SASL With Kerberos (FreeIPA) unable to send mail
Hello I just finished setting up FreeIPA with Dovecot + Postfix + Saslauthd. I can easily access to mails using imap via dovecot with gssapi authentication and postfix also delivering mails very well. But I cannot send email from postfix using gssapi authentication (plain and login authentication working fine) because saslauthd is not specifying realm when requesting service from freeipa domain.

Move mail behavior
Hi! I've recently migrated my IMAP mail setup from a server running an older Debian Squeeze with dovecot 1.2.15 to a new Debian Jessie system with dovecot 2.2.13. In the old setup, it used to be so that a mail moved from a folder to another one was marked as deleted in the originating folder (in dovecot 1.2.15). In the new setup, the mail just disappears from the originating folder (with

Help restoring imap mail
My mailserver blew up today with a power hit. I've created a new server and have dovecot running and I want to restore my mail. I have a copy of the file that was in /var/mail. I set the new dovecot config up the same as the old one and copied the mail file over. I can see the INBOX mail but none of the rest of it. I'm running 1.2.15 under Ubuntu server 11.04. I'm using
