I would like some feedback from guys who did this operation and need some advice on what to convert first ? - first convert INBOX then convert IMAP folders ? - first convert IMAP folders then convert

Dovecot + FreeBSD 6.0 + pam_ldap + nss_ldap
Hello all I am new to dovecot and I have some troubles to make it working on a FreeBSD 6.0 box On this machine I have nss_ldap + pam_ldap working to login users but dovecot is not working for "ldap" users, it works only for users that are "really" in /etc/passwd file. I have configured dovecot to use the passwd auth mechanism as the OS is suppose to do the job, but it

mailboxes and IMAP folders mirroring ?
Hello This is a bit off Dovecot but ... I'm searching some software to mirror mailboxes and IMAP forlders from the mailhub to another (clone) computer. Actually I use rsync daily but I wonder if it exists some software that are real time mirroring capable ? I'm using Dovecot 1.2.14 and Postfix with MBOX format. Thanks

Samba with LDAP - conflict with pam_ldap?
Hi, I'm using Samba 2.2.4 with LDAP support (OpenLDAP 2.0.23), and with pam_ldap included in the rpm nss_ldap 1.86 from Redhat (I'm on Linux Redhat 7.2). All these things are working well (I use the same object SambaAcount under PosixAccount in order to authenticate all these things), but a problem appears when I'm trying to list all the accounts and groups from my Win2000

Dovecot hanging up with many defunct processes
Hi, I am in a very awkward situation and need some kind of immediate fix up. I had installed dovecot in my organization as part of migration of email server. The setup involves sendmail, dovecot (imaps+pop3s) and webmail (squirrelmail) running on apache webserver. All was working fine until one day I found a lot of defunct processes on system related to dovecot. dovecot-auth, imap-login and

Multiple samba servers with LDAP
I was wondering what the best practice is for setting up several SAMBA servers in a SAMBA domain all on the same LAN. Here is what I am looking at PDC: LDAP, Samba, nss_ldap, pam_ldap Member1: Samba, nss_ldap, pam_ldap Member2: Samba, nss_ldap, pam_ldap Member . . . . Should I set the member servers up with: Security = domain and join the severs with net rpc join or, whould it be better to set

syslog messages
(I sent this last night, but to the wrong address.. argh) After an upgrade to FC5, and a rebuild and install of dovecot 1.0RC7, I've been getting a LOT of syslog messages like the following: Sep 26 21:47:55 myhost dovecot-auth: nss_ldap: reconnected to LDAP server ldap://ldap.mydomain.com after 1 attempt Now, everything is working fine as far as I can tell (it's only been a rocky day

NSCD, should it be used or not with LDAP, pam, nss
Again, another confusing issue in two how-to's I'm trying to resolve. In the SBE (samba-3 by example) Pg 161 in the PDF states. (It's actually page 200 of the PDF, but 161 of the numbered document pages.) "The name service caching daemon (nscd) is a primary cause of difficulties with name resolution, particularly where winbind is used." But the Authconfig in the IDEALX

dovecot-auth leaves zombies
Hi all, I have installed and configured dovecot on two different machines, so I don't have much experience with this server. One installation is giving me serious problems, that I have a hard time tracing. From the beginning: the machine is a debian mix (stable/unstable) dovecot 0.9.11, real users authenticated via pam_ldap/nss_ldap. It serves ~70 users, all of them using Outlook, Outlook

Dovecot + managesieve + Roundcube
Hello I've installed managesieve on my mailhub FreeBSD from dovecot-managesieve ports to let roundcube users build email filters. The filter are well created in the right directory but the filter seems inefficient ( it does not filter ;-) ) see below the result of the dovecot -n command Thanks for any info > mail# dovecot -n > # 1.2.10: /usr/local/etc/dovecot.conf > # OS: FreeBSD

A little help with nss_ldap - User xxx in passdb, but getpwnam() fails!
I keep getting the following errors when I try to log on to my domain or access a share (some how I have no clue I was able to get one computer to access the samba domain). It is a standalone PDC, ldap on the same computer. This problem has been killing me for about a week, any help would be greatly appreciated I'm running samba 3.0.9 on redhat 9 stock ldap server that comes with redhat

LDAP users/groups not showing up with nis, pam, & ldap
I am trying to configure NIS, PAM, & LDAP on a CentOS 6.2 host. I've previously installed a similar configuration on RHEL4, but CentOS now uses nss-pam-ldapd and nslcd instead of nss_ldap, so the configurations are a little different. Currently, local users and groups are showing up but not LDAP users. When I do a /getent passwd/ and/getent group/ I don't get LDAP users. When I do

LDAP authentication via PAM
I've configured dovecot to authenticate against a Fedora Directory Server. The mail server on which dovecot is installed has the nss_ldap and pam_ldap packages installed, and /etc/dovecot.conf has the following two lines: auth_userdb = ldap /etc/dovecot-ldap.conf auth_passdb = pam In other words, I want dovecot to use LDAP to access the user database, but PAM for authentication. This part is

glibc errors related to nss_ldap or pam_ldap?
I am trying to track down the cause of some errors that have been occurring on a number of our servers using LDAP. We have noticed that when a certain LDAP group exceeds 65 users we begin seeing glibc errors for users in the group. Users that are not in the group do not exhibit this behavior. We have seen this issue on machines running Centos 4.5 x86 & x86_64 with glibc-2.3.4-2.36 and RH4

pam_ldap + nss_ldap, su(1), group wheel and pam_group
Hello, Freebsd-security. What is proper way to mix pam_ldap/nss_ldap (no users but root in local files), su(1) and check for group `wheel'? "files" source should have precedence over "ldap" in /etc/nsswitch.conf, for changing user/group by daemons before full network configuration, and for local "root" has priority over any LDAP ones. Group

Samba3, LDAP and FreeBSD 4.8 : need for NSS ?
Hi, I found your posting below... I am in a very similar situation and just want to understand what this means a little better. I have compiled openldap and samba on a netbsd box... Not sure if your aware, but nsswitch on netbsd is not modular, and ldap is not an option for the name service backend. (freebsd and linux are not options since its not an x86 box I'm using) Anyway, my ldap

pam_ldap-184 compile error
I tried to compile pam_ldap-184 but it gave lots of error msgs. BTW, I have successfully compiled nss_ldap-255. For pam_ldap, my configure looks like: ./configure --with-ldap-lib=openldap --with-ldap-dir=/usr/local --with-ldap-conf-file=/usr/local/etc/openldap/ldap.conf and the following is the configure output --- start of configure output --- creating cache ./config.cache checking host system
