debuginfo and debuginfo-common for PAE with systemtap
I want to use systemtap on a 5.3 system but cannot find supporting
kernel-PAE-debuginfo or kernel-debuginfo-common packages. Am I being a
noob, or do these not exist for the PAE kernel?

CVE-2013-2094 and CentOS 6.x
For those who don't know yet here is the redhat bugzilla on this exploit.
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=962792
Does anyone know if CentOS 6 have the debug packages available to apply the temp patch for this listed in the bugzilla link?

However, it doesn't work on CentOS 4.1. ntpd complains with this error message:

SMART for SATA devices ?
I noticed that the changelog for the new kernel 2.6.9-34 on the redhat
enterprise watchlist states on of the fixes as;
145061 - SMART support in SATA driver (P1)
Does this mean that with that kernel we should be able to interrogate SATA drives now ?
Cheers,
Bards.

[Xen-tools] Dprobe and Systemtap for Xen Tracing and Debugging.
Hi folks
In linux kernel development, there is a debug tool called dprobe ,which can
be used to dynamic insert the probes into the function of kernel source code
and find what''s goning on.There is also a tool called systemtap which is
based on dprobe and kernel debug info.
Using the kprobes infrastructure, SystemTap is being developed to
dynamically instrument the kernel and user

OT: mysterious traffic
Hi all,
I have few sites which interconnected using a dedicated link.
During these few weeks I've found that there are some mysterious traffic
pass over my router with constant amount of bandwidth all over the time.
I can know this because after working hours, only few applications are
running and it did not generate this kind of traffic.
Anyone can advice how to detect what kind of

large disk volumes with 64bit kernel
I installed 4.4 on a machine that's got two RAID volumes, one of
which is a bit over 2.1 terabytes. The installer had no problem.
However, fsck does. Commenting out the volume in /etc/fstab, the
machine will boot. The machine will mount the volume and use it.
Everything seems fine except fsck, which seems, well, fscked.
When trying to run fsck, it says:
# fsck /dev/sdb1
fsck 1.35

IPtraf not looking right on the console..
I have a CentOS 4 server at home where we store all our data, I wanted
to get some idea of the amount of traffic going into and out of the
server by protocol so I installed IPtraf..
When I run it from an ssh session it looks fine but when I run it
directly on the server console its doesn't look right at all.. It
doesn't seem to layout correctly..
Is there something I need to do

systemtap probe points for Xen hypervisor
How do we probe the Xen hypervisor, while running as the dom0 (which
is the GUI frontend for us, and running as guest)? Since the entry
to hypervisor is controlled, I supposed it will need a patch before
systemtap can be used to probe the Xen hypervisor, right? Or is it
not a logical thing to do?
My target of interest will be to trace/analyze the behavior of the
Xen hypervisor, and the

Is this message from YUM a bad thing?
I was doing a YUM update, and it found about 70 packages to download and
install.
While installing, this message popped up a couple of times:
/sbin/ldconfig: File /usr/lib/libk3bdevice.so.2.0.0.#prelink#.X8kEMh is
empty, not checked.
And then after about three or four times of saying that, the YUM update
stopped without finishing. So I started it again, and it picked up where
it left off, so

Controller detection order
Hi,
I have a dell poweredge 850 with centos 4, freshly installed. I'm now
trying to add in a fibre -> sata raid enclosure with LSI HBA's in the
850.
My problem is the enclosure gets detected first, hijacking sda and
sdb from the internal SATA drive and causing kernel panic at boot
time. I've tried changing the order in modprobe to the following:
alias eth0 tg3
alias eth1
