ruby xapian bindings and windows
Hi,
I've compiled xapian 1.0.9 (core and buildings) on Windows Xp, using
Lemur's nmake files[1].
I'm trying to use acts_as_xapian [2] on RubyOnRails, but I'm facing a
problem with the rebuild index process.
in acts_as_xapian, to rebuild the index, a new
Xapian::WritableDatabase is created with a different path, then
flush() is invoked; lastly, the new path is renamed to the old

[Cucumber] Cucumber and acts_as_xapian
Hey list,
Anyone have experience with acts_as_xapian and Cucumber? I''m
struggling with updating xapian''s index, to actually "find" fluff
that has been indexed..
In a scenario, I''m adding a bunch of articles, and in the actual
search step, I run:
When "I search for \"$query\"" do |query|
%x[rake RAILS_ENV=test xapian:update_index]

acts_as_xapian?
Anybody using Xapian with Ruby on Rails?
If so, I'd like:
a) Any advice on the state of the Ruby bindings.
b) Even a skeletal version of acts_as_xapian - I'd be happy to help
flesh it out, and test it.

Partial search on prefixed data
Hello everyone,
I'm trying to do an "Auto-complete" widget for the search field on a
website, which has Xapian running behind it. (Using the PHP bindings.)
I have the name of a search result prefixed with "name", so as the user
types, it triggers a search for "name:whatever the user put in".
This seems like an ideal use for the FLAG_PARTIAL flag; in fact the

TestCases Failure
Hi,
I am a student in Pakistan willing to contribute to Xapian.
I have been able to successfully build the code. But when I run the
existing testcases (to verify everthing is working fine), It says 3 out of
the six testcases fails. Here is the report of the test cases.

Ruby on Rails hosting on BlueHost.com -- Feeback needed
hi Friends,
Planning to use BlueHost.com for my Ruby on Rails application hosting on
their $6.95 per month. Is anyone using them ? What version of ROR do
they provide ? What kind of webserver does they provide ? How much RAM ?
Can i re-start the web-server if my ROR application demands ?
May be the above answers would be best answered by their sales dept. But
if anyone is using them, please

Bug and patch for +terms with wildcards
In current Xapian SVN HEAD, there is a bug in the query parser concerned
with the handling of wildcard terms with a "+" prefix. Specifically,
a query such as "+foo* bar" will be parsed by the query parser into
Xapian::Query("bar") if there are no terms in the database which start
"foo". Instead, since the "+" term cannot be matched, I believe

script/generate scaffold errors
Hi,
I''m following the Agile Development With Rails book and having some
trouble. Specifically, I''ve typed:

and received the following error:

Rails, 1.9 & Encoding - does it work?
Hey all,
I''ve been looking into moving our Rails app to 1.9 and am having lots of
trouble with string encodings, especially when it comes to file uploads.
We allow users to upload text files, which may, or may not, have
accented characters in them. If there are accented characters, we insist
that the file is UTF-8, but if there are no accented characters we don''t
care what

Xapian Ruby bindings as a Ruby Gem
Hello everyone,
I'm very interested in packaging the Xapian Ruby bindings as a gem for
easier installation and integration into Ruby projects.
I came to this idea, because many Ruby developers face the problem of
installing xapian under hosting service where they have no root rights. And
Xapian is THE essential part of the Rails plugin acts_as_xapian, wich brings
all the Xapian features to

Inconsistent results when using wild card queries
We get some unexpected results when using wild card queries. We''re using
aaf and Ferret 0.11.4
For exampel, when seraching on a part of a collegues name (kristofer)
and limiting it to a specific source_id:
Query: source_id:25 AND kri*
Result: 2 documents. None of them containg the word kristofer, but other
matching words, as "kring" and "kring?" (swedish)

permit many-to-many vms / networks relationship
This patchset contains changes to the ovirt server
frontend, backend, and tests components, permitting vms
to be associated with multiple networks and vice versa.
Also included are two patches which are required for the frontend
bits; a patch adding collapsable sections to the vm form, which
in itself depends on the second patch that provides default values
for the cpu and memory vm table fields

creating a new column assigning values of other columns
Hello,
?
I have to create a new column from the values of other columns of a data frame. The new?column (y$n) is created imposing a condition (using a third variable y$h) that assigns the values of two time variables (y$b and y$timepos). Here's the piece of code to get there (using the attached files):
?

Another fortnight, another Winetricks.
This one has a heap of bug fixes (e.g. works again in kde,
don't think glsl=disabled means disabling glsl.dll,
don't expolode if a wineprefix has single quotes in the name),
and the following new verbs:

xact_jun2010: newer version of xact for games that need e.g. xapofx1_4

sudo wildcards problem: for every argument a *-wildcard? Better solution?
Hi folks
I allow the user tommy to run this command as root
sudoCommand: /app/appname/connectors/*/*/current/bin/*
With "sudo -l" he sees the sudoers, but is unable to execute.
$ sudo /app/appname/connectors/zur/namename/current/bin/othername

Sorry, user tommy is not allowed to execute
