Document ID 0 is invalid... but not always...
Note: this is rather long and not very important and I don't want to prevent the team from releasing version 1.0, so go on reading only if you have too much free time !!! ;-) 0 is not a valid document ID, never, ever, but I just found a special case in which xapian will create a record and return 0 for the newly created record. In fact, I was "hacking", trying to store metadata

Writing with xapian-tcpsrv and php
Hi, I think, there is missing constructor function supporting remote writing for XapianWritableDatabase class in the php bindings (0.9.7). This code: $db = new XapianWritableDatabase(remote_open($db_host, $db_port), $action); returns: Fatal error: No matching function for overloaded 'new_XapianWritableDatabase' (...) $db = new XapianWritableDatabase($path, $action); works fine.

You need to tell PHP to look in the root namespace, e.g.: $test = new \XapianWritableDatabase('searchdb'); Another

Fwd: Strange error with PHP bindings [some more details]
Finally I noticed something suspect: [2008-08-19 09:11:25] [DEBUG] DAO_Articles::add_xindex() - document added id : 255, title : Gli anelli con sigil... this is a debug line from my application, add_xindex function simply adds the document to xapian database, the error always happens when I try to add an article with id = 255, this can not be a casualty (I also tried to change the order of

DatabaseModifiedError on get_data - best practice?
Hi, I have previously had a problem with getting this error on a get_mset call, and solved it by subclassing XapianEnquire with a backoff-and-retry algorithm (as suggested by this list, many thanks!). However, I now get it intermittently when calling get_data on a XapianDocument. The same solution doesn't seem to be quite as easy in this case, because: 1. The document is not instantiated

DatabaseCorruptError
Hi there, My web app uses Xapian via the PHP bindings. I'm getting this error thrown occasionally when atempting to instantiate a XapianDatabase object for searching. DatabaseCorruptError: Expected block 107 to be level 1, not 0 Here's the line that invokes it: $database = new XapianDatabase(PROJROOT.'/data/xapian/posts'); And my version is xapian-core 1.2.3 with matchspy.

PHP indexing, what's the PHP method for indexscript
Currently I have the following indexscript: pid : unique=Q boolean=Q field=pid postdate : field=startdate author_name: unhtml boolean=XAUTHORNAME field=author author_id: boolean=XAUTHORID field=authorid url : field=url sample : weight=1 index field=sample How can I create the same indexing using PHP? With this, I can get an searchable index, but I have no idea how to set the fields, so that I

backing up a database by locking while backup program runs
Hi. I want to back up a Xapian database. If I copy the database directory and its contents using (for instance) rsync, and I know that throughout the duration of the rsync process another process has had the database open for writing, but has not actually made any modifications, can I be sure that, on completion of the rsync process, I have a copy of the database which is consistent and fully

In-memory databases vs PHP Bindings
I can't quite connect the dots on this, perhaps someone can help. I'm simply trying to create an in-memory database comprising a single document, so that I can run a load of queries against it and see if any of them match the new document (this is to enable users to have 'subscriptions' to saved searches and be alerted every time a new item is published that matches their

TermGenerator incorrectly tokenizes German text which contains special characters
Dear Xapian users, I try to index some German text with Xapian using the xapian_php bindings. I run Apache 2.2 on Windows using PHP 5.2.13 with the pre build xapian bindings from Flax: Xapian Support enabled Xapian Compiled Version @PACKAGE_VERSION@ Xapian Linked Version 1.2.0 The problem is that after indexing text which contains special characters like ?, ?, ? and ?, using

Having trouble with php8 bindings
Hello It appears that I can't use anything in PHP8.2 if the PHP file from which I want to access xapian contains a namespace declaration, because the PHP functions themselves cannot be found. (xapian 1.4.22, php8.2, debian bullseye. xapian.so is confirmed to be loaded after manually compiling 1.4.22 packages for libxapian, and compiling the bindings from original source, because it's

How to locate the query term in search results?
Hi everyone, I'm trying to build a summary of each document within the search results, and the summary is supposed to be the sentence where the queried term appears in the document. However, I'm not sure about where to start. I mean, should I call the class of XapianDocument and search through the termlist of each document in the Mset or it'll be better if I begin with the

document_id globally incrementing
Hi All I have made my xapian indexer automatically create new indexes once it reaches X documents in each, and for each document that I add to each sub-index, I record its document_id and its index_id (relating to what index the document ended up in). writabledatabase_add_document() returns document_id:s beginning from 0 for each new index when you add new documents, like you would expect. So

Hello, I am trying to rebuild an index of 2+ million documents and have not been successful. I am running Python 2.7 Django 1.7 Haystack 2.1.1 Xapian 1.2.21 The index rebuild command I’m using is: django-admin.py rebuild_index --noinput --batch-size=100000 The rebuild completes but an immediate xapian-check returns this error: xapian-check ./archive_index record: baseB blocksize=8K

modifying the DB while iterating is user error, right?
Hello, I noticed a problem with DatabaseCorruptError exceptions with public-inbox and I guess it's user error... The problem is public-inbox was calling replace_document to modify the DB while iterating through a PostingIterator. At first I thought it was a glass problem, but I've hit it with chert on my dataset, too. I have a standalone Perl script to reproduce the problem at

Database Corrupt Error
I am getting this error when trying to remove a document from my Xapian database via writabledatabase_delete_document: "DatabaseCorruptError: Db block overwritten - are there multiple writers?" There might have been two processes trying to write to it earlier today, but currently only one process can touch it at a time, and I still receive the error. Is there a fast way to fix this
