Incorrect get_matches_estimated() of Xapian::Mset
Hello, As I know, get_matches_estimated() return an estimate for the number of documents with matches the query. But now, I found it get a disparity between the return value and real mathced number. For an example: the real matched number is 58, but the return value is 458; so when the users click the hinder page, get a blank page ... so they often complain to me. I found that the main reason is

ruby bindings odds and ends
In the Ruby bindings, set_X and get_X are renamed to remove the get/set, so MSet::get_matches_estimated() becomes a read-only property (if I have my terminology right) of the Ruby MSet class called matches_estimated. This matches how a Ruby programmer would expect a class to be designed. I was looking through the getters and setters list. I wonder if a few entries shouldn't be there, (the

Very far out and static get_matches_estimated
Hi, I'm getting quite odd results using get_matches_estimated() that I haven't seen before; we've just added a bunch of new data to the database. Xapian 1.0.7, checkatleast is set to 100. The database will get new stuff added to it automatically around 8.30am BST, so it's possible this might affect the links I provide, I guess. But I'll note what is currently happening as

C function with unknown output length
Hi all, Could anyone point me to one or more examples in the R sources of a C function that is called without knowing in advance what will be the length (say) of the output vector? To make myself clearer, we have a C function that computes probabilities until their sum gets "close enough" to 1. Hence, the number of probabilities is not known in advance. I would like to have an

SSOAP and Chemspider: Security token?
Dear community, has anyone managed to get SSOAP working with the ChemSpider Web APIs, using functions which need the security token? I use SSOAP 0.9-0 from the OmegaHat repository. In the example code from SSOAP there is a sample which uses a token function. Interestingly, it checks if(!is.character(token)) first (and proceeds if the token is NOT character.) I can't test that function since I

seg fault on search
I have written a very simple function to return the match count based on the simplesearch.cc code. It fails with a seg fault. The relevant code is: -------------------- int ftQuery(char* qs, const char* dbname,char* results, int msize) { long docid; char* op; char fullDB[1024]; string queryString;

New scws patch for xapian-core based on svn trunk
Hi, I have already re-make the patch file, based on the trunk codes in SVN respo. But I can not build the xapian, because there are many errors when building 'languages/' for stemmer. Therefore, I could not test the new patching code. Patching code can be accessed from: http://www.xunsearch.com/download/xapian-scws-1.3.x-trunk.patch Need to install SCWS first as below steps: 1.

Search functionality and CMS
Hello, I am planning to build a bigger Internet platform and actually evaluating Java EE and Rails. I have a lot of Java experience and I am quite new to Rails. After playing some weeks with Rails I am sure that it is a mature web framework and I really like the productivtity of Rails. One of the key advantages is that new developers will understand this platform much quicker than all the Java

Wildcards
Hello, Thanks Olly , by following to your suggestion I could do the indexing in the CSV file while the search results retrieved from the Postgres and it's working fine. [ I am using the Xapian PHP-binding to index and search.] How could I enable the WILDCARDS in it ? I followed with the online manual which says it is disabled by default there given some method to enable but I am not

Dreamhost FastCGI: incomplete headers (0 bytes) errors
Sorry to trouble the list with another Dreamhost problem, but looking through the archives I see nothing that can solve my problem. I have installed my app as per http://wiki.dreamhost.com/index.php/Ruby_on_Rails#Quick_Start_Guide_August_2006 with a symbolic link from my_domain.tld in ~/ to ~/apps/residence/public/ I get the Rails welcome screen. I have uploaded my app directory etc, and

Obtaining actual match count if using set_collapse_key()
Greets, Is it possible to obtain the actual match count if you're using set_collapse_key()? ie, the total count *before* the collapsing occurs (without using get_mset()). Alternatively, will MSet::get_matches_estimated() return the true - pre-collapse - count, or will it also be affected by collapsing? Thanks Henry

Active Search
Issue: I am trying to get a good quality search capability across our site. I ran across ActiveSearch (http://julik.textdriven.com/svn/tools/rails_plugins/simple_search/) which seems to be a better solution for us than SimpleSearch (and SearchGenerator) as it is more than just word based. However, I am unable to get the project built and being fairly new to Ruby / Rails I''m a little

submitting a xapian entry to the FreeBSD ports collection
Hello, Would anyone object to my submitting an entry for xapian-core to the FreeBSD ports collection ? This would make it even easier for any FreeBSD user to install a xapian-based application. By the way, it does not seem quite right that xapian-core 0.9 will install commands with such generic names as 'copydatabase' or 'simplesearch' to /usr/local/bin by default. Either a

playlist trouble
Hi all, I'm running icecast and use ices to stream mp3's to the server. The user can search a database with english audio files ( it's for schools, so nothing fancy ) and then klick on a play-button ( Anhören ) to stream the selected title . But no matter what file is selected I only get the first entry in the playlist. I use the builtin-playlist-handler. You can test it
