CentOS 3.6 yum update signiture question
Greetings all - I just downloaded the 3.6 isos, and installed them. I had no problems on the install. When I did a yum -y update to catch everything up, it ran for a while, then I got the following error message: ------- Downloading Packages warning: rpmts_HdrFromFdno: V3 DSA signature: NOKEY, key ID 025e513b Error: Could not find the GPG Key necessary to validate pkg

CentOS 4.2 Mouse Tracking Unstable
Just installed CentOS 4.2 on a system that was running RedHat-9. The system is connected to the keyboard, video and mouse through a Belkin OmniView Pro KVM switch. After bootup, the the system tracks movement by the mouse just fine. The unstable behavior can be characterized as follows: 1. Console is switched to a different system for a time and then switched back to the Centos system. 2.

Severe issues with the latest 6.5 desktop
Ok, here at home, I'm running kde. After the last update, last week, and reboot (and that was a *real* mess - some issue I'm not sure I've resolved yet, trying to boot off RAID 1), here's what's started happening: I run in runlevel 3, and have a startx in my .bash_profile. At some point, just about every day, suddenly the toolbar on the bottom vanishes, as does my desktop

mouse problems [A4 Tech OP-3D]
After some poking into psm.c code I've got some results. First, for the archives, debug.psm.loglevel tunable is much more useful than a verbose boot for debugging PS/2 mouse issues. A good value is 2. Second, I fiddled with various probe methods to force them to "recognize" my mouse (by loosening their checks) and found out that the mouse works perfectly if it is treated as

netbook screen suddenly goes black
Hi all! I'm running an up to date Centos-7 on my Acer Aspire One netbook. have been for, well, ever since C7 was released. Just had an event today that also happened 2 or 3 times with earlier systems installed, but I never pursued it. What happens is that suddenly while working away on the desktop the display suddenly goes black... not black as in turned off, I can see that the backlight is

Steam games crash during gameplay
Hey everyone! I'm running Ubuntu 8.04 w/ ALSA and the Ubuntu-packaged ATI Catalyst driver for my ATI X1700. My problem is that I'll be playing CounterStrike or Half-Life or BrainBread for maybe 2 minutes if I'm lucky, and then suddenly my computer locks up. I get to hear the same 1-second slice of in-game sound over and over again and the screen stays frozen. In CS:CZ, it seems that

Mouse Problems
Hello Folks, I hope that you are well. I have installed CentOS 4.1 and I have an MS mouse. The mouse pointer can be moved around BUT I cannot click on anything menus and such, even during the install the mouse isn't operational for clickage. Any thoughts. Any help would be most welcome. I am using an Avocent SwitchView MP, but its made no difference in installing Core 3 or any other OS.

How to disable screen locking system-wide?
By default, CentOS v5 requires a user's password when the system wakes up from the screensaver. This can be disabled by each user, but how can I disable this system-wide? Many of my users forget to do this, which results in workstations being locked up. Bob

Anyone using fuse and/or sshfs under Centos 4.4?
Hi A search of google failed to show any prebuilt rpms for sshfs and fuse. I do see that fuse support is in 2.6.14 kernel which isn't a whole lot of help. Before I dive headlong into this has anyone successfully built fuse/sshfs against Centos 4.4. If so would you share your experience? Thanks Daveh

Switching screen resolution on the fly
Is there any way other than CTL ALT + and CTL ALT - to set and or change the resolution of the X server when I want to. Is there a way to so take me to "1920x1080" mode and then later take me to "1366x768" mode. With xvidtune I see the -next and -prev options but I was hoping for jumping to specific modes. I so realize I can also edit out unwanted modes in the xorg.conf but

installing on HP DV5000 64 bit
Has anyone managed to install CentOS 4.2 on an HP dv5000 64 bit laptop? I boot from the install cd, and all of the options I have tried ( return, linux text, linux noprobe, linux lowres ) have had the same result: some text scrolls by really fast ( looks like the start of the install), then the screen goes blank with no activity of any kind. The processor is the turion 64, and it has ATI video.
