Dual ethernet server on the same LAN
Hello, I have Fedora Core 3 linux and Samba 3.0.14a on a server that has 2 ethernet interfaces connected to the same LAN. The purpose to have such a server with 2 network cards is to serve 2 network shares with high traffic. I want the first share to be accessed trough the first network card (named drone.domain.com) and the second share trough the second card (named probe.domain.com). My DNS

REPOST: Changing from Mixed mode to pure Active Directory
I need to move a Samba 2.2.1 server form a Windows 2000 Domain network that is currently running in Mixed mode with a domain name if "ABC" to a pure Windows 2000 Active Directory network with a domain of "ABC.net". Do I need to do anything other than change the domain controller name listed in the password server property in the smb.conf? Thanks! Devin M. Rader, MCP

Removing LVM
I have a CentOS 5 machine in which I'm trying to remove lvm. I dd'ed the file system to another partition, then dd'ed it back overwriting the lvm partition. I then modified menu.lst and fstab and replaced the paths to point to the correct device. When the system boots it's still looking for lvm. I can restore the system back to where it was with lvm, but I'm not sure what

feature request: gzip support in syslinux itself
HPA, is it possible to add GZ support in syslinux itself? Some standalone software compresses very well, but is not compressed. Example is the Memtest86+ binary (90KB uncompressed --> 35KB gzip'd) and maybe Smart Boot Manager (gzip'd COM32 binary instead of normal COM32 binary?). I'm using both on a simple bootdisk, and all space savings are welcome. a workaround could ofcourse

Noise Cancellation of Server Noise
Has anyone come across a device that could cancel out the noise from servers, ie. the fan noise? I have a server rack near my office and would like to see if i can decrease the noise level. It would seem to me that the steady drone of the fans could be cancelled out to a large extent.

Problems logging in
Hello People, I am experiencing some weird Problems using samba on a linux server that is supposed to connect the windows an Macintosh world in our production team. So far everything works fine - i've set up a directory called "comon" that is accessible from almost every Windwos workstation and almost every user. The problem is "almost". There is actually one user, that

[compiler-rt] '-fprofile-generate' and embedded systems
Yep, done that already, but it is not at all a good fit when the device is inside a drone flying around ;-) What we do have, is a fake file-system that keeps everything in memory, and after the profiling is completed we offload it for analysis. I guess I was hoping that there would be a more robust system agnostic implementation. Use of ‘mmap’ is similarly constraining. MartinO

aacraid monitoring tool?
I've got myself an Adaptec 2200 HW RAID card to play for couple of days. Tha card uses aacraid device driver. Seems to work nicely, however just wandering if there's a tool (prefferably CLI) for CentOS that can read out RAID configuration data, status of individual drives, maybe even manage (create/delete) RAID devices? Thanks for any and all pointers.

AACRAID monitoring
Does Centos include any runtime monitor/control software for raid arrays on AACRAID devices as on IBM 3650's? -- Les Mikesell lesmikesell at gmail.com

AACRAID controller setup?
This isn't exactly a Centos question but maybe someone here can help: Does the AACRAID controller (as in an IBM 3550) store its config info on the drives or internally? I only have one of the boxes and want to load Centos 3.x on several drives which can be swapped into servers at another location. With SCSI, all that took was a full disk dd copy and a little fiddling with the HWADDR for the

aacraid hard/firmware differences?
This isn't really a Centos question but it affects the systems so I'll ask here anyway. I've noticed when swapping disks around on IBM 3550 boxes that some of them see one more cylinder on drives than others but I can't find any settings or differences that might control this. It's an obvious problem when you fdisk/format on the one that sees the additional cylinder,

aacraid strangeness
I've just had an strange thing with Adapted 2200 RAID controller (with optional battery module installed). Basically, new card, worked perfectly for weeks, several reboots and stuff. Then all the sudden, when I rebooted machine this today, system would simply freeze during boot. BIOS showed the card initialized properly, kernel module was loaded (from initrd) and it found all of the arrays,
