PHP indexing, what's the PHP method for indexscript
Currently I have the following indexscript: pid : unique=Q boolean=Q field=pid postdate : field=startdate author_name: unhtml boolean=XAUTHORNAME field=author author_id: boolean=XAUTHORID field=authorid url : field=url sample : weight=1 index field=sample How can I create the same indexing using PHP? With this, I can get an searchable index, but I have no idea how to set the fields, so that I

Report for http://trac.xapian.org/wiki/SupportedPlatforms
Hello :-) There was probably no good reason to do this build but the Debian 6.0 Squeeze repo version was 1.2.3, we needed 1.2.4 and I didn't think of using the package from unstable. start() in zoo
Hi, I'm trying to get the beginning of my zoo object's index through start (d) but sometimes get an error: Error in start(d): Unused argument (s) (c(NA, 8.792, 8.725, ...) The data(d) is retrieved from Bloomberg through RBloomberg. I am pulling 6 tickers (which means I'm getting 6 columns), and not all of them have data going back to my start date. When I print the

Colspan & rowspan
Hi, What's the best way to build tables with multiple sets of column/row headings, each spanning 1 or more cols/rows, similar to the colspan/ rowspan options in HTML. I am using Sweave but couldn't find an option to do this in xtable. I can obviously build it by hand, just wanted to make sure there wasn't an easier way. Thanks.

wildcard support (left truncation)
Dose Xapian support wildcards (left truncation)? E.g. *ildcard.doc or *.doc or Wild*.doc I read a post from Olly in 2005 that said it wasn't supported yet, I was wonder if there had been any progress or easy work around since. I mainly need when users want to search by the filename extension. Thanks, Frank

MediaWiki to Omega
I use Omega to index and search an archive of magazine and ebook pdfs etc. I also have a Wiki (in MediaWiki) that I wanted to include in that index too. If it's any use to anybody, I've adapted dbi2omega to export the pages from MediaWiki and shared it on GitHub - search for mediawiki2omega. It doesn't do anything very clever, but it might save someone time figuring out the

Sieve, vacation, variables and russian language
Folks, I'm using a Sieve script for vacation messages and there's something strange with it in certain cases. The script uses the "variables" extension to produce the "Re: [original subject] (autoreply)" subject line for the vacation message. All is well except for cases when that [original subject] is written in Russian. In those cases the subject string is

Problems with xapian php bindings in osx
Hello, I am attempting to run the smoketest.php file from my devserver and am getting nothing but errors. It looks like it did not install correctly. Yesterday I compiled the source on os x and it appeared to install just fine, but now it is not working at all. I tried to replace the location of the xapian.php file with a hardcoded located and got a different set of errors. Here are

Flint failed to deliver indexing performance to Quartz.
Flint failed to deliver indexing performance to Quartz. I am proposing to remove Flint as default database and place Quartz database back as default. The catch is not that Flint database is smaller and faster during searches then Quartz database as developers were concerning when were measuring and neglecting to measure performance when creating the large indexes. The truth is that Flint

Animated lissajous
Here's some code to make lissajous dance. I've attached a small sample GIF. Cheers, Rob Steele robsteele at yahoo dot com plot.lissajous = function(omega.x, omega.y, delta = 0, num.thetas = 200) { thetas = seq(0, 2 * pi, length = num.thetas) xs = sin(omega.x * thetas + delta) ys = cos(omega.y * thetas) plot(xs, ys, type = 'l', lwd = 3, ann = FALSE, axes = FALSE) }

cosinor analysis
Hallo, I didn´t found any facilities for Halbergs cosinor analysis in R. This analysis is well known in the Chronobiology as the least square approximation of time series using cosine function of known period (in my case of 24hours-period). I tried to write a script but crashed... Can you give me some advices, please!? Thanks Anne Berger Institute of Zoo- and Wildlife Research, Berlin, Germany

combining databases for omega
From the documentation I've read, omega can read from multiple databases, but I'm not sure how to go about this. I have three databases created using omindex, currently located at /var/lib/xapian-omega/data/share, /var/lib/xapian-omega/data/users, and /var/lib/xapiax-omega/data/management The quickstart guide says that in omega.conf database_dir should point to the directory

Omega
Are there any options to forming queries with Omega? For instance can you specify a proximity search like "file near 5 manager"? If so, where might I find this documented? I don't see it in the docs directory. Thanks Jim.
