large Xapian index files
Hello Arjen van der Meijden,
on xapian-discuss you mentioned that your Xapian installation has got up to
15 GB database size. Can you tell me about the largest index filesize you got?
According to <http://xapian.org/docs/scalability.html>, it seems that the
quartz database filesize is limited only by the OS and file system. Can you
confirm from your experience that there is no 2GB limit?

hi,
I'm using Xapian on Windows with large files. My index directory is about 65 607 466 693 bytes:

writabledatabase_delete_document()
Hi guys
I have implemented xapian on a website, and it currently has about 2M
items in its index.
Its all been working quite nicely so far, until I tried removing some
old items from the index (removing items when the index was smaller was
no problems at all).
When I try to remove them now (using writabledatabase_delete_document()
via php), it halfway freezes up the machine, and the apache

More than one Index?
Morning All,
I use scriptindex to build my database and the PHP bindings to pull it
all out.
Is it possible to have more than one index but select what the bindings
search on?
So at the moment I index property addresses, I would also like to index
property descriptions for more advanced searching but only as an
optional extra...probably in an extra search box.
Also I would like to analyse the

R bindings for Xapian: API modifications
Hi,
I'm currently reviewing my originally proposed API design and I added two
new fields(idField, stemmer) to the xapian_index() function. As my next
task I'm planning to determine the output data structure and format of
xapian_search() function. Afterwards I will focus back on xapian_index()
function and review the format of valueSlots parameter.
An outline of 'simple indexing'

Great, thanks -- I'll make comments & suggestions there, and others

No. The input data structure to xapian_index() will indeed be a data frame.
Even a stored CSV can be conveniently converted to a data frame. There are

R bindings for Xapian - Project progress
Hi all,
I completely facilitated simple indexing with xapian_index function, and
also developed a DatabaseWrapper. Only a few more modifications are
remaining to completely facilitate simple search with xapian_search
function.
Best regards,
Amanda

The best way of thinking of this is that changes via the github web
interface are like changes someone

R bindings for Xapian - Project progress
Hi all,
I developed the basic structure of xapian_index() function which enables
the content of a data frame to be indexed with Xapian search engine
library. I pushed it to a git repository at
https://github.com/amandaJayanetti/RXapian.
It'd be a great favour if Mr. Dirk Eddelbuettel as well as other interested
developers could kindly review the function and give me some feedback on it.

postlist chunking
Postlists are split up into chunks, so that skip_to can avoid reading
all the postlist.
Currently the chunk threshold is 2048, but this is checked before adding
an entry, so the postlist chunk can actually grow a little larger.
Something like 2060 at most. Unfortunately this isn't a good threshold
with the default blocksize (8192 bytes).
Internally the B-tree splits up items with a large

after_fork - ActiveRecord::AdapterNotSpecified
Hi all,
I''m fighting with the after_fork hook and my sinatra application. The Sinatra app is using active_record,
In my unciron.rb file I''m using
preload_app true
after_fork do |server, worker|
? defined?(ActiveRecord::Base) and
??? ActiveRecord::Base.establish_connection
End
but I always get the error:

Working demo of search engine using boolean query.
Lately I was reading many articles about using boolean queries for search
engine but I haven't seen any complete working demo. Therefore I put
together very simple working demo of search engine using boolean query. Feel
free to suggest any performance improvement or error while keeping it as
simple as possible for understanding.
Thanks,

How to use omega to search remote back end?
Folks,
Having trouble getting this to work. OMEGA cgi is not reading my stub file properly because it is trying to read it as a directory instead of a file. Is there an easy fix? Here is a transcript.
Thanks,

NFSv4 and locking
Greetings,
We use NFSv4 on our cluster and perform distributed indexing (well, we
used to on our previous system which used a simple touch() locking
mechanism).
I'm having a spot of bother getting Xapian to obtain a lock (hangs on
fcntl64()).
I've read http://trac.xapian.org/wiki/XapianOverNFS and other list
posts, and noted that a lock daemon should be running to allow locks

I've recently been able to compile the CVS code in Solaris 9, but I'm now

Crash when using dict quotas with sqlite database
Hello John,
I tried (until now) to get a valuable backtrace, but it seems that GDB
can't resolve all symbols.
This is what systemd-coredump is giving me:

auth-worker service failed since recent MariaDB upgrade
Hello Aki,
This patch seems to have done the trick - hopefully it works fine and
doesn't mask the problem.
From the patch content, I see that it's from 4th of December.
Is there a reason why this hasn't made it yet into upstream?
Did you come across this bug on your own and patch it temporarily?
Best regards,
