Robust Search Solution (with CentOS 4.3)
I've got about 10,000 docs I'd like to devise a
search/index for. I found a perl script called
Perlfect that can do that on an old P3 but at the
astronomical time of 7 hours. Another script(cgi/perl)
at hotscripts can do the same but allows the "rm -rf
/" exploit. DoH!?
Is there anything perl/flatfile that can search/index
faster? This is a nice job for an aging P3 in the

Firefox 1.5.0.3 in CentOSPlus?
Seeing Fedora have released 1.5.0.3 for fc5 isn't it
time for CentOS to rebuild 1.5.0.3 for CentOSPlus or
does the current rpm have the patches?
I recall last times goof in FC5 firefox appearing in
the CentOS one so I assume that CentOSPlus needs to
rebuild the FC5 one again.

Updated Yum Docs
The docs in http://mirror.centos.org/centos/4/docs/ do
not reflect yum of today ie the yum plugins. Where can
updated yum docs be found? By browsing lists such as
fedora-devel, centos one can see how the plugins have
"stumbled in" but newbies/anyone wanting to pickup on
the new features has nothing to read.
Note there are yumex docs at the above location but my
query relates to yum

My GNU-CentOS Desktop
I took a lil trip and decided to bring my
rhel-converted-to-centos desktop with me. I have a few
screenshots at
http://s78.photobucket.com/albums/j90/centosdesktop/
In addition to CentOS Base/Extras/Plus, I have kbs and
rpmforge repos. As you can see in one screenshot i
have yum utils and about 80 protected packages.
I've added Open-Office.org 2.0.1, Gnuchess, artwork

CentOS Wiki - Fight FUD?
In the up and coming wiki, don't forget to have an
FAQ/Fight against FUD section. Looking at the web in
January an upstream vendor employee said some things
in his wiki. In Feb/March CentOS was discussed on the
Fedora-list/Slashdot.
- Common myths about the legality/ethicality of CentOS
- CentOS providing value to Open Source as a whole
- Projects emanating from CentOS like SMEServer

Slashdot: Building A Web-And Mail Server With CentOS 4.3
I may not agree with everything they say, such as
ISPConfig (I prefer webmin) but this tutorial offers a
"step by step opportunity for newbies". Does this
indicate that CentOS is now a "mainstream" distro?
(Technically speaking its not CentOS 4.3 but CentOS 4
Update 3 but we are not into semantics).

Building 3.0.21x on AIX 5.2
I've followed the instructions in the README at
http://us4.samba.org/samba/ftp/Binary_Packages/AIX/ for building 3.0.21x on AIX
5.2 ('oslevel -r' reports '5200-07').
The last version I was able to build on the system was 3.0.14a.
3.0.21c's configure completes with no errors, but the make immediately bombs
with:
# make
Using FLAGS = -O -D_SAMBA_BUILD_ -I./popt

Binaries for AIX 5.1
Hi,
I'm looking for binaries of Samba 3 for AIX 5.1
The ones availables on Samba's FTP (
http://us3.samba.org/samba/ftp/Binary_Packages/AIX/ ) are given for AIX
5.2 or 5.3 (what is said in the README)
I found references to 3.0.21 packages (like in this message
http://lists.samba.org/archive/samba/2006-January/116792.html ) that had
existed, but this one is no longer avaible :(
So, do

Compiling Samba on AIX 5.3 with idmap_rid fails
Hi everyone,
I'm trying to use idmap_rid with Samba 3.0.21c on AIX 5.3. So far, I've
not been successful.
I've followed the method from
http://us5.samba.org/samba/ftp/Binary_Packages/AIX/README to compile Samba,
but added "--with-static-modules=idmap_rid". Also, I used IBM's compiler
and not gcc.
The compilation fails as follows:
