64-bit R-build on Mac OS X 10.4 - make check failures
Hi all, I compiled 64-bit R on an Apple Mac G5 running OS X, but it failed make check. Simon Urbanek suggested I post results to R-devel. > On Nov 6, 2007, at 10:23 PM, Steven McKinney wrote: > > > Hi Simon, > > > > Would you be able to give more guidance on how to compile 64-bit > > libiconv for Tiger, > > You can get the sources from Apple and compile

Single or Dual Processor? High volume MeetM e
I'm trying to get a souped-up test machine(G5 Xserve) from Terrasoft to do some testing in a few weeks. If/when I actually get it I'll certainly post the results here. In theory the G5 should mop the floor with the Intel for high-volume Asterisk Zaptel usage, and I have heard from several Mac-heads that they have run three quad T1 digium cards on the Mac platform with no problems.

memory problem with mac os X
Dear list, I am using R.2.0.1 on a G5 biprocessor 2.5GHz with 2Go RAM (Mac OS X 10.3.8). I'm trying to calculate an object of type "dist". I am getting the following memory error : *** malloc: vm_allocate(size=1295929344) failed (error code=3) *** malloc[25960]: error: Can't allocate region Error: cannot allocate vector of size 1265554 Kb When I do a top on the terminal, I

Approximate a f(x,y)
Hi all, Running simulations, I'm generating market response to 2 factors X&Y.. There is no closed form for the market response.. The results are store in a matrix Z(X <- seq(.02,.98,.02), Y <- seq(.01,.19,.01)).. For optmization purpose I need to approximate the values for any factor X in 0,02-0,98 and Y in 0,01-0,19 How can I do it ? For one factor : Xn-1 < x <= Xn

Distributional characteristics
Hi all I've a continuous variable and I want to test (graphically, plotting observed and theoretical distr, qqplot) whether it follows some formal distribution. (some thing close to Ricci document : Fitting distributions with R, Feb05). The distribution I want to fit is a truncated Gamma at 1 (the minimal value is 1), P(x)=Pgamma(rate,x)/(1-Pgamma(rate,x<1)) NB : changing the variable

changing memory limits to speed up lsoda
Hi All, I am running R 2.2.0 on Mac OS 10.4.2, dual G5 processors with 8 Gig RAM. I am running a simulation with lsoda that requires ~378 s to complete one set of time intervals. I need to optimize the parameters, and so need to considerably speed up the simulation. I have tried to figure out how to change the appropriate memory allocation and have search R help and Introductory

Pb encountered with demos
Hi all, I've just installed R on my Mac & PC. The base demo run fine.. But I'm encountering several pb with some packages (installed using CRAN binaries using the menu) - Lattice: > demo(lattice, package='lattice') demo(lattice) ---- ~~~~~~~ Type <Return> to start : > require(grid) [1] TRUE > old.prompt <- grid.prompt(TRUE) > old.settings

Hybrid Monte Carlo algorithm (MCMC)
Hi all, I'm trying to estimate a nested model (purchase decision, cloglog formula, & quantity bought given a purchase, truncated Poisson). Some of the parameters are mixed (6) and 4 are fixed for all the respondent. The simulated ML (500 simulations) method forwards highly correlated estimates. After some research, Hybrid Monte Carlo seems to be a good alternative to estimate the model. I

user_global_* ldap deliver
Searched archive, but failed to find... :-( "deliver" does not honor user_global_* from dovecot-ldap.conf or userdb static{} also it looks like delivery attempts being made to %n/Maildir/cur ?? one other curious thing, use of ${recipient} in master.cf|deliver command causes the "passdb ldap" lookups to be completely ignored? only checks passdb and ignores userdb compleletely?

Hi there, I am trying to install from the source R-2.4.0 on my mac (osx 10.4.8 G5 DP) The error imply Tcl/Tk. I install it by all the way I know: darwinport, the Tcl/Tk package from the dmg available from CRAN but without success. The PATH is correct. tclConfig.sh is localised in /opt/local/lib and have those permission: -rw-r--r-- 2 root admin 7K Oct 9 09:49 tclConfig.sh Here is

Quicker quantiles?
Motivated by Deepayan's recent inquiries about the efficiency of the R 'quantile' function: http://tolstoy.newcastle.edu.au/R/devel/05/11/3305.html http://tolstoy.newcastle.edu.au/R/devel/06/03/4358.html I decided to try to revive an old project to implement a version of the Floyd and Rivest (1975) algorithm for finding quantiles with O(n) comparisons. I used

[LLVMdev] llvm-2.5 and trunk:HEAD fail to build on PPC64/Linux
Hi all, I'm currently reviewing if LLVM would be useful for a use case on our side, and run into a build problem on PPC64/Linux (x86, x86_64, and ppc build ok): the 2.5 release and trunk fail the same way, just the line number is differs by one, 2.5: llvm[2]: ======= Finished Linking Release Executable tblgen (without symbols) make[2]: Leaving directory

[NB] lm problems
Hi, I have probably overlooked something obvious, but could anybody help me with following, please? Trying to make regression analysis. I have a huge dataframe with results from National Opinion Survey on Crime and Justice (www.abacon.com/fox/) with two variables G5 and N3 which are imported to R as ordered factors: > levels(noscj$G5) [1] "Strongly agree" "Agree"

I suspect screen tearing (as it's usually defined) is to be expected. Can you take a photo of what you're seeing, since I'm suspecting it's more than regular screen tearing? OK. That's not tearing. That's like a bad pitch on an image. (Presumably you only find the second image, IMG_1968.jpg, problematic?) I'm guessing you're using a GL-based compositor, which I fully expect to work poorly. Please try a non-compositing or XRender-based compositing environment. New to xen. Does Xen run on the Power PC architecture? Specifically G5.. I see some info on the web sites but i haven''t seen anything that tells me it''s ready and supported. If Xen does in fact run on a G5 processor would i be able to install a windows O/S as a Domain guest O/S on it? Since windows only runs on x86 platforms i wash''t sure if if the Xen virtual

64-bit R on Mac OS X 10.5.4
Hi Matt Your method is the easiest way for me to install the 64-bit R. I followed the directions on your web site and then did the following: R --arch=x86_64 source("http://bioconductor.org/biocLite.R") biocLite(type = "source",lib = "/Library/Frameworks/R.framework/Versions/2.8/Resources/RLib64") I got many errors and warnings which I copied to the attached file.
