custom ValueRangeProcessor in Perl?
Hello, I'm using the XS Perl bindings packaged with Debian stable
and am interested in implementing my a custom ValueRangeProcessor
(using DateTimeX::Easy for human-friendly date parsing)
Unfortunately, I'm not sure if it's possible with the
add_valuerangeprocessor API via Perl.
Reading the XS/*ValueRangeProcessor.xs source files, I'm seeing

Adding mean values to boxplots
Hello there,
I was wondering if anyone might be able to help me as I'm pretty new to R.
I'm trying to create a boxplot from a data table returned from an sproc. I
have the following code, which generates the plot as I'd like it:
library("RODBC");
conn <- odbcConnect("datawarehouse"); # connect to datawarehouse

Equivalence of TSQL Stored Proc and User defined functions
RoR Equivalence of TSQL Stored Procedures and User defined functions
As I browsed through the tutorials and online eBook ?Programming Ruby?,
I have not come across the terms ?Stored Procedures? or ?User-defined
functions? as I know them in SQL 2000.
However, the online documentations in MySQL 5.0 show that Stored
Procedures and User-defined functions are supported in MySQL 5.0.
I wonder what

SWISH::Prog::Xapian
Early[0] implementations of Swish3 for Perl are now available on CPAN.
http://search.cpan.org/dist/SWISH-Prog-KSx/
http://search.cpan.org/dist/SWISH-Prog-Xapian/
These Perl implementations offer KinoSearch[1] or Xapian[2] as alternate backend
libraries.
SWISH::Prog::Xapian should build indexes compatible with the swish_xapian tool
that comes with libswish3.
Feedback welcome.

multiValued="true"/>

C API
Hi.
I am one of the developers of Swish-e (http://swish-e.org/), an indexing/search
tool similar to Xapian.
I am currently researching future development directions for the Swish-e
project. Three of our most often-requested features are UTF-8 support,
incremental indexing, and large (multimillion) doc sets, all of which seem to be
ably handled in the Xapian library.
So one possible

Matches estimate varies with sorting method
Hi all,
I found that the figure returned by MSet::get_matches_estimated() varies
depending on how results are to be sorted.
For instance, in my index, value 4 contains date and time in the format
"yyyymmddhhmmss". For the same query, the number of results will be
estimated to 20000+ when results are first sorted by date and time
with set_sort_by_value_then_relevance(4) and to only 100

Windows build with Visual Studio 2005 - some success
Hi all,
first up, big thanks to Dave for doing the hard work of porting
Lucene. I have come to love Lucene through my Java work and was
extremely pleased to find the Ferret project for Ruby.
Now, I am tinkering with building the C extension using Visual Studio 2005.
So far, I have had some success in getting something built and working
in my Rails app (diffs attached). I am also encountering a

multiple value with the same number?
I am working on a system for indexing email, and it would be nice to be
able to store multiple values for the same value_no - for instance, if
an email has multiple attachments, I might want to attach a value for
each attachment, but a value with the same number.
One option would be store the three values as one, e.g. comma-separated,
but I was just wondering how others have dealt with such a

Trying to learn Search::Xapian and be better at perl at the same time,
I'm stuck, at the DB_CREATE_OR_OPEN error. Perl says this:

choosing between probabilistic and boolean prefixes for terms
Hi all,
public-inbox allows searching for git blob names (e.g. "badc0ffee")
in patches. Initially, I chose to use add_prefix for probabilistic
terms, since I assumed it could be a superset of what boolean
searching offered. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be the case
because stemming is interfering.
So switching to boolean filtering seems to work; and it is
fine for mechanical

I didn''t see anyone post a link to David''s Interview by Lenz here on the list so I decided to post it.
The interview can be accessed here:

I was very happy to see the interview on PlanetMySQL as just the other day I was talking about RubyOnRails on my MySQL blog which is syndicated
