hello folks!
i've got four HP NetServers, two LC2000r and two LH6000r. the CentOS
4.2 ServerCD can't see hard drives on any of them.
each machine has a HP NetRAID controller; the LC2000rs have a

each machine boots ok (the LC2000rs need "linux

Xapian packages in rpmforge?
hello folks!
i've recently joined the rpmforge maintainers; given that Tim Brody
has already written specfiles for RHEL4 and RHEL5, would you be
interested in my adding the xapian packages to rpmforge? this would
eliminate (or at least reduce) the need for you to maintain a separate
repository and would mean that many users (those who have already
configured their systems to pull

discount submitted to Fink
hello folks!
i've packaged discount-1.3.2 so that it builds under Fink (http://www.finkproject.org
) and submitted my package for validation (https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=414256&aid=2654852&group_id=17203
). this may be a good solution for someone who wants to use discount
but doesn't want to fool around with compiling the source without

centos driver disk?
the recent discussion of support for Promise SATA drives reminded me
that a while back i remember reading about a project to assemble a
driver disk to provide wider hardware support than just stock
CentOS. how's that coming along? i don't see anything in the wiki
about it...
as i have a vested interest in this project (since i'm still relying
on old MegaRAID controllers),

telnet to serial connection?
hello folks!
here's my situation: i've got two WTI RPB+ remote power switches
(essentially a 5-port power strip which you can control via serial
interface to make each of the ports switch on and off
independently). they work fine; i plug a DB-9 cable into the back of
my machine, fire up minicom, and i have full control.
however, my eventual plan is to use these as fencing

OSX El Capitan - Fink - NUT
Hi
I use NUT on a Mac to monitor a UPS which is connected to a NAS. When the NAS reports a low battery on the UPS it broadcasts and the Mac shuts down. Or it did.
I have just upgraded to OSX 10.11 El Capitan. I have successfully upgraded Fink to 0.39.1. I now wish to update the NUT package, so that I can continue using upsmon etc.
However, although NUT is apparently stable for Fink under 10.11

ntop from rpmforge
I don't know why I haven't signed up for this list before since we use
CentOS all over the place. The list is very useful and it is good for
me to participate and "give back" to the community.
Anywho, I wanted to post this response to a thread that was created back
in November 2008 about the ntop daemon failing to start. I'm currently
setting up ntop as a NetFlow &

installing nut for Mac OS X
i'd like to install nut on Mac OS X 10.4.9; i can't seem to get the Fink install to work (notes below), and i'm only semi-facile at command line installs; is installing nut on Mac OS X as simple as "make install" and no dependencies? if not is there a summary of what i'd need to do?
regarding nut on Fink:
based on a note in this list's archive i found that nut

Geany plugins out of sync
I'm intending to do some version control, hence looking for some
plugins. Geany and geany-plugins packages in Rpmforge seem to be out
of sync:
Name : geany-plugins
Arch : i386
Version : 0.18
Release : 1.el5.rf
Name : geany

CentOS-4.5 and LG cd-rom/dvd burner
I would like to burn the cd-rom iso's of CentOS-5.0 on my desktop machine,
which is running CentOS-4.5. Is there a site or other reference that can
provide me with a detailed, hand held, step-by-step, blow-by-blow
description on how to do this for my installation?

[LLVMdev] fink llvm-gcc42 test packaging
I've created fink packaging for a building the llvm
and llvm-gcc-4.2 svn pulls under fink on Mac OS X. Hopefully
the fink info script and patch should be clear enough for
some comments on my build approach. The llvm-gcc and llvm-g++
compilers seem okay so far. The llvm-gfortran compiler seems to
always spew a warning..

munin stopped working
Just noticed that my munin installation stopped showing any data after the
last "big" update. I installed a lot of updates for CentoS, but there was
also a munin update coming from rpmforge. However, in yum.log there is no
munin listed. But I'm sure I updated munin to 1.2.5-2.el5.rf as well. Does
yum log only the centos repo's?
The problem seems to be with the creation of

Where is clustat
I thought I've installed the clustering tools, but when I attempt to run
clustat, it says it doesn't exist. When I installed the suite, I ran:
yum install -y GFS GFS-kernel-smp magma-plugins fence dlm dlm-kernel-smp
gulm cman cman-kernel-smp
CCSD is running and when I "cat /proc/cluster/nodes", I see my three
nodes.
Does anyone see the package that I missed for

errors on multimedia guidance for x86_64
I have a fresh install of 5.4 x86_64 from a dvd .iso. All has worked
well for several days, including kvm and WinXP running in a vm.
Decided it was time to get the multimedia stuff up and running so I
could listen to music CDs and watch DVD movies while working. I
followed the guidance on the "Tips and Tricks" page for multimedia. Had

Removing old kernels
I have the following kernels on my /boot:
2.6.18-128.1.6
2.6.18-92.1.18
2.6.18-92.1.22
I'm low on /boot space and need to remove the oldest version. It
appears that I cannot use yum to remove since all of the versions are
the same (only the release is different). I believe that I can use rpm
to remove the old version, but I also need to remove them from the
grub.conf. Any other

Wrapper package / yum repository
Hi,
I am setting up a yum repository for our applications and I am having a
bit of trouble. I copy the files to a webserver, run createrepo and
then configure the servers to use it.
One of the RPMs is a "release" package that includes exact versions of
all the binary and configuration files as dependencies so we can do
"packaged releases" and, if we want to revert to a

bug in R-1.5.1 for Mac OS X installer (PR#1825)
Hi,
Thanks for developing an outstanding software for free. I admire all your
effort greatly. I would like to submit a bug report on the R-1.5.1
installer (in .mpkg, .pkg format) for Mac OS X.
I'm using fink in conjunction with Darwin. In my environment, /usr/local is
symbolically linked to /sw which is fink's main directory. This is to
conform the directory structure on my machine
