MSetIterator::get_percent Shows Increased Values When Using Query::OP_FILTER
I'm seeing some rather odd behavior with respect to the match percent that
is returned when performing a simple query. It appears that the addition of
a filter to a simple OR query will not affect the weight of the match, but
will increase the percent of the resulting match. According to the
documentation for MSetIterator::get_percent (

docid type redifine
Hello all.
I need to redefine a docid type (and all dependent types) like this: typedef unsigned long long docid;
I think it would be enough to edit "include/xapian/types.h", but it isn't so.
1) I've added :
string
om_tostring(unsigned long long val)
{
CONVERT_TO_STRING("%llu")
}
in common/utils.{h,cc}
2) In include/enquire.h (line 438) I've found the

How to get the serialise score returned in Xapian::KeyMaker->operator().
HI, all,
I am a user of Xapian, and now I have a problem in using it.
After using boolean terms to get some candidates of documents (still too much), we want sorted them by self-defined function which is used in Xapian::KeyMaker->operator(). But how can I get the serialise score in Xapian::MSetIterator object.
c++ code likes this:
class SortKeyMaker : public Xapian::KeyMaker {
std::string

Compact databases and removing stale records at the same time
I'm trying to compact (or at least merge) multiple databases, while stripping search records which are no longer required.
Backstory:
I've inherited the Cyrus IMAPd xapian-based search code from Greg Banks when he left Opera.
One of the unfinished parts was removing expunged emails from the search database.
We moved from having a single search database to supporting multiple

We are using the --enable-maintainer-mode and will move to git soon.

PHP XapianTermIterator/XapianPositionIterator usage
Hello again,
/thanks to Peter for previous response.
I've been digging around trying to find sample usage of
XapianTermIterator/XapianPositionIterator in PHP. The idea is to code up a
test case in PHP to perform snippet extraction (with a possible view to
coding a pecl extension in C). I found a C++ sample, but that wasn't much
help.
I must be dense this morning though, since I

related documents
Hi All,
I would like to take a doc in the xapian DB and find all related
documents by relevance e.g. so when you view one document it says
"Related entries X Y Z".
I'm aware of the "Morelikethis" Lucene plugin that is supposed to do
something like this, by generating a query from a document based on term
frequency.
Has anyone developed a tool to generate a query from a

uncaught C++ exception from Perl Search::Xapian XS?
I'm using Search::Xapian XS from Debian stable and I'm getting what
appears to be an unwrapped C++ exception:
terminate called after throwing an instance of 'Xapian::DatabaseModifiedError'
Using `eval' from Perl5 doesn't seem effective in catching it.
I'm using postlist_begin, postlist_end and ++ to iterate a
PositionIterator, and reading XS/*Iterator.xs, I see the

[LLVMdev] [lld] consolidating the usage of saving references
Hi,
It looks like each flavor chooses to save references in its own way.
The GNU flavor (ELF) uses a single vector of references and uses
referenceStartIndex/referenceEndIndex to point to the references for
each DefinedAtom.
Darwin(Mach-O) / WinLink (PECOFF) uses a different way of storing
references ?
Is there a plan to make the WinLink/Darwin(Mach-O) use a single vector
of references too

Compiling Xapian within a Cocoa project
Hi, folks.
I don't know much about C++, so please excuse my newbie question: I just tried to include Xapian in a dummy Cocoa project, ie created a new project and added the libxapian.a file installed via MacPorts. When I include xapian.h in an Objective-C++ file (either mm or h), the compilation fails with the following message:

DatabaseModifiedError while iterating on mset
I'm already retrying the ->get_mset operations; but now I'm
wondering where I'd hit DatabaseModifiedErrors while inside a
Xapian::MSetIterator loop.
I assume ->get_document is a place where it gets thrown;
but once a document is retrieved, can iterating through
terms in one document (using TermIterator) also throw DB modified?
I'm dumping multiple terms per-document to a
