Remote protocol abstracted
I have been working in the abstraction of the remote protocol to separate it from the server and the connection. The purpose of this is I need to use the Xapian remote protocol in a server we are working on (named Xapiand: https://github.com/Kronuz/Xapiand) which is similar to some extent to the `xapian-tcpsrv` in that it also serves databases remotely through TCP, using the binary protocol. RESTful xapian server needs help
For the last year we have been working hard in releasing an open source RESTful xapian server named Xapiand (https://github.com/Kronuz/Xapiand) that will offer clustering, replication and some other neat features (similar to what elasticsearch offers, but the final goals go beyond it); however, for our Xapiand server to work, we need to have a few changes in xapian-core that are **essential**.

Can't get xapian-core 1.05 to build under windows xp
Here is the output I get from nmake. I am not a guru at getting C programs to build under windows, I never had any troubles I could not solve on OSX :-( I am using the released sources, I have Visual Studio 2005, I have the make files from lemur. I read ALL the readme.txt file before starting. And this is what I get. C:\Documents and Settings\jroberson\My Documents\DOWNLOADS\xapian-

xapian core missing link to math on MSYS2
Dear All, I've tried to build xapian-core 1.4.3 on MSYS2. It fails with attached error (undefined reference to `exp10'). I think it might be missing an explicit link to 'm'. I'm not able to fix this myself as I do not know autotools sufficiently well, but I hope you might be able to help. Cheers, Mario Emmenlauer -- BioDataAnalysis GmbH, Mario Emmenlauer Tel.

Weird TCP problem
Last week, I started seeing very strange behavior in one of the networks that I manage. The office LAN uses a Linux firewall which masquerades their workstations over their DSL connection. There are probably ~75 workstations in the office LAN. Their mail server is in a collocated facility nearby. That server has an RFC1918 address; its router does SNAT to forward packets to the system. Both

rsync over ssh - possible attack vectors
Hello everybody! First my setup: I connect from Debian Lenny to Ubuntu Karmic with a command like: user1 at localserver:$ rsync -rtcve ssh user1 at remoteserver:/.../ /local/.../ (using default versions of ssh and rsync in the vendor repos, ssh with password authentication) As far as I understand if localserver got compromised an attacker could read the password and then get full access to

SSH Through R Script
Hi, I am trying to SSH to a remote server through R script. In other words, I would like to know how I can get a SSH connection to the remote server and then execute commands on that server with the R script. So in bash, I would normally type ssh -lusername remoteserver.com; press enter and then wait for the password prompt to key in my password. I have tried system("ssh

Question about serialise
Hi, Do the serialise method of Document and Query produce a valid utf8 string? My problem is with the Node.JS binding. I serialise an object, convert the string to a javascript string, convert the javascript string to a std string and then try to unserialise. The error I get from Xapian is "Bad encoded length: no data". Thanks, Marius -------------- next part -------------- An HTML

[PATCH v2 3/5] daemon: Added internal_filesystem_walk command
The internal_filesystem_walk command walks through the FS structure of a disk partition and returns all the files or directories which could be found. The command is able to retrieve information regarding deleted or unaccessible files as well where other commands such as stat or find would fail. The gathered list of tsk_dirent structs is serialised into XDR format and written to a file by the
