root preexec & 2.0.7
I a have a problem resulting from a neat tool I developed through the use of the "root preexec" option: This is done in the [homes] section of smb.conf. I launch a shell script with the user name (%u) and machine name (%m). The shell calls a C program to check the users quota and returns a code as the percentage of quota used. Meanwhile, all output of the C program has been captured

Labels and Goto()
I just discovered labels in the dialplan. Maybe someone (hint: the author) could like, do something crazy, and say, update the unofficial docs on voip-user? There's nothing there about labels in the pages for extensions.conf OR the Goto() command. I'm not going to do it. I've realised that when people post documentation about something they think they understand, on incorrect or

Win2k & 2.0.7
When I try to join the Win2k machine to a domain, I get the following message: The following error occurred attempting to join the domain "WIN2K": The procedure number is out of range. This is a Win2k PC attempting to join to AIX 4.3.2 running samba 2.0.7. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Bill -- /------------------------------------------------------\

ole locking compatibility
Would there be any conditions under which this setting (default to yes) could cause an AIX 4.3.2 machine (samba 2.0.6) to suddenly have all processes (smbd or otherwise) become blocked? I've sent 5 dumps to IBM and they're stumped and this is the only thing I can possibly find from the samba stuff that could possibly cause it. Here is the exerpt from smb.conf: ole locking

Locking issue
I know this has come up before....but.. I've got a locking issue I can't get over. Situation: --------- Unix writes a file to the /tmp directory MS-DOS (WFW 3.11) copys over the file (copy d:\file.txt ), locking it, and not releasing the lock. If Unix subsequently changes the file a re-issuing of the MS-DOS 'copy' command will appear to work ... but the MS-DOS file is

There is no such tool. If you want to dump EEPROM contents, you can do so via one of the following ways for em(4) NICs or igb(4) NICs, as root:

SAMBA digest 1371
I've installed Samba ("latest") on SCO's openserver 5 with a WIN'95 hanging off of it as a client. I can run every test in DIAGNOSI.txt except for number 2. That is, the WIN'95 box can not ping the SCO box within a reasonable amount of time. (SCO can ping the WIN'95 box fine). For the longest time I thought the WIN'95 box couldn't ping the SCO box but I
