leaky bucket on bursty multicast
Hi all, I have an average 2mbit multicast stream that once in a while bursts high (up to 20mbit/s) in short periods (about 200ms). Could anyone please help me with directions using tc for configuing leaky bucket shaping to this stream? I have a 5mbit/s ceiling. My system is running gentoo linux 2.6.14, and I have compiled in all QoS modules. Thanks. Oivind

System freezes
Hi, when I try to boot my notebook from a USB disc, the system freezes completely. After displaying the text (or menu), it doesn't react to any key, even Ctrl+Alt+Del doesn't work. The config is pretty simple: ------------------------------------------- SAY Booting Linux from USB... KERNEL /boot/vmlinuz DEFAULT Vaio PROMPT 1 LABEL Black KERNEL /boot/vmlinuz APPEND ro

parameter vs. option
Hi all, I would like to ask you a question about terminology. What is the difference between "parameter" and "option", especially in the context of configuing something by using a form like "<key>=<value>".  I don't understand the difference strictly. The Samba document says the both words everywhere, and sometimes uses both in a same paragraph. I

Inquiry:Problem in mounting external cdrom
Dear All I tried to mount an external cdrom on my CentOS 5 server but un-successful . I attached the device to my USB port and then the followings have been added to my /dev folder : "cdrom -> scd0 cdrom-sr0 -> scd0 cdrw -> scd0 cdrw-sr0 -> scd0 cdwriter -> scd0 cdwriter-sr0 -> scd0" To this end , I tried to mount it as the followings (but it didn't get through) :

Dell PowerEdge 750 rackmount
Hi- I have an upcoming order for a bunch of asterisk boxes, and I'm considering using an "assembled" package for the server, instead of building them from components as I usually do. Does anyone have experience with the Dell PowerEdge 750 server, or any other 1U rackmount server for use with asterisk? Thanks in advance Scott Stingel Scott M. Stingel President, Emerging Voice

Adding an MT9234ZBA-USB modem to CentOS6.3
How, exactly, does CentOS-6.3 with udev recognize an USB modem when it is plugged in. How is it indicated? What other configuration is required? I can find the modem in /sys/class/tty and I can get the attributes using udevadm but I do not see anything in ps that refers to the modem device. -- *** E-Mail is NOT a SECURE channel *** James B. [LLVMdev] how to build Java frontend for LLVM?
I haven't built those pieces myself, so take this all with a grain of salt. It looks like you need another tool, treecc, to build pnet. The referenced website looks to have expired (advertising parking page there now); however, google turns up http://www.freshports.org/lang/treecc which looks like it might at least be a place to start. Install to internal USB?
Saw a trick today, wondering if anybody else had done/tried this? Assume you have a 1U rackmount with 4 front-accessed drive bays, and you want all four bays for a 4-disk RAID5 storage. The idea is to use an internal USB adapter and a couple of bigger USB thumb drives to install to, RAID 1 style, freeing up all your external drive bays. At first, I didn't think that a thumb drive would

HP/Compaq Rackmount UPS Support?
Hi, I have an HP R5500XR and a Compaq R3000XR that I would like to use with nut. I searched the compatibility lists and the mail list archives but couldn't find anything. They both have 9 pin serial ports. Can anyone give me any information about them, and if they are supported by nut? Thanks, Denny Fox

automounting a usb-harddrive/cdrom that can be mapped from the login script.
Hi, I am installing a Samba 3.0.1 on RH90 for a little school, and they want to have access to a mobile usb-harddrive. The harddrive shoud be mapped via the login script, and here is were my troubles begin.... I have been experimenting with the autofs service, which works great if the harddrive is present at login time. If one login at a time where the harddrive isn't present the login

extlinux issue
Trying again since the mailing list says I have a 'suspiscous header'. I have been told to get linux running on two HP DL360G4p machines (ancient rackmount xeon stuff). Unfortunately, while isolinux boots fine from CDROM, and extlinux can boot a USB stick, I cannot get extlinux to boot from the CCISS hard disks (two disks in hardware raid 1 configuration). I searched on google a lot,

APC Smart-UPS 1000 RM USB problems with newhidups
I'm trying to use a rackmount Smart-UPS from APC with the USB connector, and I'm running into some issues. They seem to stem from the fact that the Report Descriptor is much larger than any other UPS I've seen (61939 bytes). Here is the quick fix that I put in libusb.c after getting the HID descriptor, and before getting the Report descriptor, which seems to work okay:

ultra-cheap asterisk box
hi all what about this... I just put together a box on a web shop (komplett.no) that will cost me NOK ~1850 (? 216) plus a small ?50 drive and cables, so say ?300. This consists of a cheap MB with a duron 1400, 256MB SDRAM and two HFC-PCI cards (if capijod will finish off the zaptel-driver soon). This is all in a cheap PC case. What do you think? Should this be doable? as a product? With only IP

Can I use SGI''s kdb with a dom0 pv-ops kernel?
I asked this a few weeks ago but didn''t get a response, so at the risk of being a nag, I''ll abbreviate and restate. I know there are other Xen specific debuggers, but I want to know if there''s any reason why SGI''s kdb, http://oss.sgi.com/projects/kdb, should not be included in a dom0 pv-ops kernel? While the patches apply cleanly and build, the result is that
