Test fixture syntax
OK, I know I''m doing something bone-headed, but I can''t for the life of me figure it out. I''ve read the test fixtures Rdoc about eight dozen times, and it says (to me) that if I have a YAML fixture file, dogs.yml that looks like this: fido: id: 1 breed: Terrier fifi: id: 2 breed: Poodle Then I can include fixtures :dogs in my functional test, and

root rq'd to join domain
I believe it was expected that Samba would allow domain joins by people in the "admin group=" parameter -- I seem to remember reading that somewhere... I also seem to remember (and have discovered) that, no, it is in fact "root", or UID 0 only, who can accomplish this task. My question is, what are the ways around this? There are people in my organization who will be joining

help on permutation/randomization test
Hi, I have two groups of data of different size: group A: x1, x2, ...., x_n; group B: y1, y2, ...., y_m; (m is not equal to n) The two groups are independent but observations within each group are not independent, i.e., x1, x2, ..., x_n are not independent; but x's are independent from y's I wonder if randomization test is still applicable to this case. Does R have any function

Bugfix patch for vorbize, compat patch for grip
Hey. Last night I hacked grip so that it'd allow me to use vorbize and comments with grip. It's very ugly because grip'd need a bit of rearrangement in order to facilitate the way the vorbis comments work (that is, the comments are not added in after the encoded file has been written). Any one who wants to use it should patch grip-2.94 (http://www.nostatic.org/grip), and make sure you

DFR framework as a GSOC project
Hey guys,hi.:) I've finished implementing the PL2 scheme . The bounds I have implemented for it are as good as I could, given the nature of the scheme and my mathematical skills. However, tight bounds for other named DFR schemes will be easier to implement because their forumlas are quite simpler compared to PL2 . Will send in a pull request in a couple of days once I'm done with the tests

Interested in IR, Getting started with Xapian
Hi everyone, I'm Akshay, an Information Science undergrad from Bangalore. I'm interested in Information Retrieval and I'd like to contribute to Xapian as a part of GSoC and later to feed my interests. I liked the idea of adding more weighting schemes (Project #2). I did a project last semester on Document Retrieval on Hadoop using TF-IDF and Cosine Similarity (the query had to be a

Hello, First of all, happy new year! I?ve recently configured my mail server and was using a simple sieve rule in order to store all my ?user+pattern at example.com? ingoing email to be stored in the INBOX/pattern folder. This setup worked very well. I restarted my server this morning (don?t know if it?s related?) and since Dovecot keep storing my emails in INBOX with following errors: root at

VNC connection to DomU got black screen
Hi all, I installed xen-3.3.1 and configured two DomU with 2.6.18.8-xen kernel. Now the DomU1 and DomU2 could work and the network is ok. But I used the filesystem image from jailtime, so the X-Window mode can''t work. Thus, I tried two ways to make the GUI-mode work: (1) yum install X-Window in Guest OS, and the GUI configuration Wizard shows up. When done with the configuration, the

digikam and mp3 sound on RHEL
Hi All; after years of running free Linux distros I've finally come to a place where I must have solid stability for my work laptop so I've purchased RHEL Workstation. I like it well enough - however I'd like to install digikam and get my system to play mp3's. I'm thinking I could get both of these from a centos repository. What do you'all think? If so, could

Weighting Schemes: Evaluation results
Hi, Evaluation of pivoted normalization ("PPP") of tf-idf weighting scheme is also complete now. I have also evaluated the default tf-idf normalization ("ntn") and other normalizations combinations involving pivoted normalization in wdfn, idfn and wtn component as "Pxx", "xPx" and "xxP" normalization strings respectively to have a clear idea about
