LiveCD System recovery - Mounting LVM?
Hi, I am trying to recover data from my old system which had LVM. The disk had two partitions - /dev/sda1 (boot, Linux) and /dev/sda2 (Linux LVM). I had taken a backup of both partitions using dd. Now I am booting of CentOS live cd for system restore. I recreated partitions like previous system using fdisk and then used dd to dump all the data onto it. I would like to mount sda2 as LVM, but I

Making a clone of an LVM-based EL5 install
Does anybody here have any idea how to make an exact copy of a drive that has LVM partitions? I'm having trouble using dd to do this for an EL5 server. We're trying to diagnose a software problem of some kind and would like an exact, perfect copy of the software running so that we can see exactly what the problem is without disturbing our production copy. It's been admin practice

Gnumeric
Hi, I am trying to install Gnumeric in CentOS 4 and I can't. It complains about quite a few dependencies failing. It suggested installing some postgresql librairies, openldap librairies... I did that, now I still get: dependencies failed: libmdb/libmdbsq/libsqlite/libxbase/libtds. Is there a yum repository that has them or a yum repository for gnumeric? I have tried Dag, he does not, he

Update csgfs without breaking things
Now that the csgfs repo has been updated to support the new kernel, I'm looking at doing updates again. I just want to do it without breaking things (if possible). I can handle doing a bit of trial and error, but I figure that if you guys can point out any obvious pitfalls, that can save me quite a bit of time. I'm looking at doing the following install/update:

more than one repo with --disablerepo
What's the correct syntax for something like the following: yum check-update --disablerepo=dag ivazquez Extras Misc this runs "dead" and doesn't do a check-update. Use kommas? Something else? man just tells to use glob exp, but what about multiple repo's? Kai -- Kai Sch?tzl, Berlin, Germany Get your web at Conactive Internet Services: http://www.conactive.com

Kernel update and csgfs
My apologies if this is a stupid question, but I'm not familiar with how kernel updates and kernel modules interact. I see that there are some kernel updates available via yum: ============================================================================ = Package Arch Version Repository Size

Sync of csgfs and current centos 4 updates
Hi list, I've been trying to update my csgfs stuff to 4.7 this week but I notice that current csgfs is built against kernel-2.6.9-78.0.1 and is required as a dependence, right now current kernel is 2.6.9-78.0.5 it would be great if csgfs can be rebuilt or updated to this, so dependences works ok??? Best regards

csgfs repo problem
I just took a brand new CentOS 4.2 x86_64 install, updated all of the base packages with yum, and then added the csgfs repo and attempted to install those packages. When I do the installation, I have a problem with one package: # yum install perl-Net-Telnet [ snip ] ============================================================================ = Package

bootup error - undefined symbol: lvm_snprintf after yum update
This is an x86_64 system that I just updated from 4.2 to 4.3 (including the csgfs stuff). When I watch the bootup on the console, I see an error: lvm.static: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib64/liblvm2clusterlock.so: undefined symbol: lvm_snprintf This error comes immediately after the "Activating VGs" line, so it appears to be triggered by the vgchange command in the clvmd startup

Modules installed in the wrong directory
I did a yum install of modules from the CentOS-csgfs repository (GFS-kernel, cman-kernel, etc). Modprobe does not find the modules. Upon investigation, I found that modprobe is looking in: /lib/modules/2.6.9-22.0.1.ELsmp/ while the package files were installed to: /lib/modules/2.6.9-22.0.1.EL/ Can I tell modprobe to use those modules somehow? Are modules for the smp kernel available? Or do I

cs & gfs
Hi all, I was informed[1] that gfs & rhcs packages are in the works but that there are some problems with the code. What are these problems? Can we do anything to help test / solve them? SAN arrays with NVRAM cache : ZIL and zfs_nocacheflush
Hi, I read some articles on solarisinternals.com like "ZFS_Evil_Tuning_Guide" on http://www.solarisinternals.com/wiki/index.php/ZFS_Evil_Tuning_Guide . They clearly suggest to disable cache flush http://www.solarisinternals.com/wiki/index.php/ZFS_Evil_Tuning_Guide#FLUSH . It seems to be the only serious article on the net about this subject. Could someone here state on this
